Chapter Sixteen Enemies

[Survival Time: 22:42:05]

The TV station, tenth floor, studio.

Long Sanshi changed into a tracksuit, pulled a handful of candies from her shirt pocket, and without caring how much blood was on them, threw them directly into her mouth and started chewing.

Prolonged elementalization causes her to feel extremely hungry, as does injury; whenever her life is threatened, she experiences endless hunger.

At this moment, Long Sanshi stood amidst the wreckage. She looked at her long hair, which was disheveled by blood and gunpowder, and then looked down at the corpses and blood all over the ground. The burning heat after the killing subsided.

She felt extremely tired. Before merging with 378, she enjoyed receiving compliments and praise from others, which allowed her to fantasize about a bright future, such as money and men. Well, the latter was dispensable, so she might as well switch to a promising future.

However, everything became dull again. The passion surging in her body had been emptied by the endless killing. She just wanted to sleep for a while, or lie in bed with her mind blank, not having to think about anything.

"are you tired?"

Bright light shone down on Long Sanshi, who was covered in blood. After killing people, she sat on a corpse eating candy, looking morbidly beautiful.

Long San emerged from the back of her head, sprouting tens of thousands of tiny limbs like a centipede, and stared at her, saying, "If you're tired, I can take your place."

Long Sanshi didn't know what to say, so he stared at it too. Then, as if he had discovered something very funny, he burst out laughing.

Just then, someone pushed open the door and came in.

"You seem quite relaxed."

He Yu looked as if he had crawled out of a dye vat, his whole body covered in blood, like a hideous demon.

Long Sanshi was a little caught off guard. Most of the surveillance cameras in the TV station were broken, and his actions were much faster than he had expected.

How did you get here?

"Let's drive." He Yu stretched his neck, striking a nonchalant pose, as if he were dealing with a very boring question that he had no choice but to answer: "Or walk over? I don't have that many lives to waste."

“I have a guess about the rules of this game,” she said, while shoving the crawling 378 back into the back of her head. “Perhaps the endless attacks will only begin when the native inhabitants of the game world discover us.”

"What's the basis?" He Yu plopped down in the pool of blood. Since he was covered in dirt, it didn't matter if he got any dirtier.

"In the past hour or so, the only people who attacked me were those in the studio." Long Sanshi shrugged and began to explain: "I don't know how your journey here went, but this is my situation. And when the countdown ended, they would have all sorts of weapons. I was shot twice by a guy while I was on the phone with you."

He Yu looked her over a few times, as if analyzing the truth of her words, and then said, "If that's the case, then your idea should be correct."

“I have no reason to lie to you.” Long Sanshi was stunned on the spot, speechless at He Yu’s vengeful nature.

It seems I can never offend this man again.

“When I was dealing with those people in the restaurant, the passersby outside acted as if they didn’t see me, but as soon as I took a step outside, they would attack me.”

"So this fits the style of battle royale." Long Sanshi recalled the crazy looks on those people's faces as they pulled the trigger and opened fire on her. If they were just ordinary people with regular firearms, she and He Yu could have easily handled it.

The real fear is that in the next twenty-odd hours, all sorts of outrageous things might emerge, like missiles or nuclear weapons...

"Something's not right." He Yu felt that things weren't that simple. If things really escalated to that point, then what was the point of starting this game?

Long before the Box Girl game even started, Dragon Three Corpses had already played dozens of different types of games within the 252 characteristic range. If it had entered this game world with the intention of killing the two of them from the beginning, it would have been better to drop a nuclear bomb at the start to avoid wasting time.

[252 will materialize games it deems interesting; if none exist within its scope, it will create one itself.]

"What makes a game interesting..." He Yu noticed that Long Sanshi's expression was a little strange. She looked calm, but there seemed to be something hidden in her eyes.

Just as the atmosphere became awkward, Long Sanshi suddenly stood up and walked out of the studio.

"I'm going out for a bit."

"Don't you need me to accompany you?" He Yu was silent for a few seconds. He noticed that Long Sanshi's body trembled slightly. The movement was very subtle, but he knew that it was a sign that he was trying his best to control his emotions.

"I need to verify something. I'll be right back."

As she said this, she gave him a reassuring smile, as if she were really just going out for a casual look around.

“Okay.” He Yu certainly wouldn’t stop her, because in those few seconds he had already guessed what was about to happen and was prepared: “Take care.”

[Survival Time: 22:36:04]

After Long Sanshi left, He Yu started rummaging around in the studio. He was lucky enough to find a suit that fit him perfectly in both style and size. His clothes were already mixed with blood, and he even tore off a few pieces of sticky skin while taking them off.

Squeak—

Someone pushed open the door and walked in, stopping there and staring intently at him.

He Yu turned his head to take a look, but quickly lost interest and looked away, continuing to change into relatively clean clothes.

The man stared at him with icy eyes, without saying a word.

"Sigh... The fact that you came to me means that the other two idiots have a big grudge against Long Sanshi, right? No wonder she insisted on cooperating with me."

He Yu finally stopped what he was doing. Anyway, he only had his shoes off, so there was no difference between fighting barefoot and not wearing shoes.

"I can't read her thoughts, nor can I see her 'hidden' side. It's probably because of her elemental nature. It's good that this woman still has a conscience, thinking of not involving me."

Qiu Leng, who had come back from the dead, spoke up, saying, "You should think about your own safety first."

Upon hearing this, He Yu burst out laughing, a laugh tinged with sarcasm, because Qiu Leng's words made him realize: even after dying once, this guy is still so stupid.

"Okay, so where should we begin? Meaningless threats?"

This undoubtedly enraged Qiu Leng. It was as if a bastard had destroyed everything you had, and when you had been preparing for years to take revenge on him, he couldn't even remember your name and didn't take you seriously.

"I'm different now! Now it's your turn to die by my hand!"

In the midst of hysteria, millions of silver lines emerged from the air, their faint glow far sharper and more deadly than when they were in the villa, capable of slicing through alloy with the slightest movement.

He Yu watched as the shrill, ghostly wail spread outwards, intertwining like ripples.

"Then what are we waiting for?"
