A mandatory email came from the castle. Each special location has a huge screen, which Lilith suggested building, meaning that if there is any urgent matter, you must watch it.
Fujimoto Ayara walked out of the laboratory that resembled a horror movie set. He had been there for several days and, after discovering that Weeks was as if he had disappeared, injected himself with all the modified versions of the drug before leaving.
The sender was naturally Beelzebub, and the letter was printed in beautiful cursive script. The wording of the letter was elegant, and it roughly meant: It was a pleasure to have spent a few exciting hours with all the operatives and distinguished guests. The outstanding ones among you have already shown their potential. Please arrive at the castle banquet hall within half an hour. We have an important announcement to make. Failure to do so will be considered a disqualification.
They even added a note: "If time is too tight, you don't have to wear formal attire this time."
He turned his head and looked into the distance. The lights in the banquet hall had already been turned on. Such elegant places never skimped on brightness. Even in this oppressive environment, the lights were still as dazzling as gemstones, so eye-catching.
Light, cheerful music began to drift through the area, its sweet and pleasant melody sounding like a dance track. The syllables danced, like an anticipated journey on a spring morning.
It's definitely something to look forward to; everyone's wondering if they're going there to their deaths.
Fujimoto Ayara considered himself an equally elegant person, but at this moment, he really wanted to curse Beelzebub's ancestors for eighteen generations.
Half an hour later, a group of people covered in injuries but dressed in designer clothes arrived at the banquet hall where the birthday party had been held.
They were already prepared to welcome us, and the style was no different from last time. Huge live specimens were arranged on both sides, gems were inlaid in the walls, and a priceless wine tower was placed in the center. Everything was ridiculously expensive.
The survivors, reeking of gunpowder and blood, stood there with dead faces, carrying various weapons—scythes, axes, sniper rifles, heavy weapons, grenades, and the like.
Before the chaos began, the place was packed, but now most of the space has been cleared. Beelzebub looked like he had just woken up, dressed in a suit and tie, but upon seeing the crowd, his initial gentleness and kindness vanished, as if his hard shell had been broken, revealing his dark inner self.
He Yu was quite puzzled. They killed all the people in the gene pool who were still alive, which could actually be considered a good deed. Those people were burned half to death, and even if they survived, they would be in pain.
I just didn't expect that dozens of people would come in. After the killing spree, so many people were still left behind. It's an endless, heartless project.
Fujimoto Ayara looked over with a strange expression that said, "You two are really buddies," as if she had seen some earth-shattering news. He Yu thought for a few seconds and decided to take a break before chopping up this Yingzhou beast. Please, he was starving to death.
Bamke dragged him to the sofa next to him—the people around quickly made room for him, and the person who was sitting on the sofa stood up without thinking and quickly moved to the side.
Beelzebub calmly looked away, surveyed the crowd, then tapped his glass and said, "Good morning. You all seem to be doing quite well."
A heavy silence fell over the crowd; no one responded.
"The reason we suddenly invited you here is because we just received some news," he continued, pausing for a moment as if keeping us in suspense.
"Those are the mutated creatures you saw in the front hall—those red things with exaggerated splitting abilities, almost like humans, that have begun to evolve."
A group of people looked at him with puzzled expressions.
“What I mean is that they will eventually replace you all and become the new inhabitants of Jerusalem,” Beelzebub said, taking a sip of champagne and planting a bombshell in his words.
There was a moment of silence, then a burst of noise erupted, mixed with various curses. The man at the front of the banquet remained expressionless, his demeanor still composed, with a smile on his face.
“I’m sure you’re all curious about this kind of garbage that should only live in ditches,” Beelzebub said. “They are actually very simple. They are unable to satisfy their desire to kill and only want to eat everything they see or devour each other. They will live their lives in an ugly, lowly, disgusting, and eternally tormenting hell.”
The dignitaries listened to his description with chills running down their spines, while He Yu acted as if nothing was wrong, taking several plates of roast meat, pastries, and a few bottles of red wine from the table and distributing them to Bamke.
"As biological weapons left behind by Weeks, they are essentially at the level of perfection." He was satisfied with the reactions of his subordinates and said with a gratified tone, "Serving us with an insatiable desire."
He laughed.
"I can't believe that no one guessed that the reason I came up with so many fancy ideas was to give Jerusalem a new look. They are all part of the 'Reconstruction Project,' and everyone here is an employee of this project, so you should be responsible for their difficult situation."
Everyone listened blankly as he pinned this charge on them. The soft dance music had been thoughtfully lowered as he spoke, but it was still cheerful and playful. Suddenly, a heavy rain started outside, and the sky darkened as if a large amount of sewage had been poured down.
“You are all part of Jerusalem, and you have all killed people, done many disgusting things, and indulged in them with a clear conscience.” Beelzebub downed another glass of champagne and continued to sigh, “But that is not the real reason you can stay here. The reason you haven’t died so quickly is because Lilith wants to make things more lively.”
