Bai Liang struggled to sit up, staring blankly as he pulled his hand out of the mangled wreckage, at a loss for what to do.
For a moment, he just stared at He Yu with a look of terror as if he were looking at some kind of monster that did not exist in the world, or as if he were looking at a ghost that jumped out in broad daylight—well, actually he really thought He Yu was dead before, but the situation was not too bad now.
"You weren't scared out of your wits?" After a dozen seconds, He Yu finally spoke.
Thank goodness, if he hadn't spoken, Bai Liang would have thought he was the next one to die.
"I thought something had happened to you."
He Yu thought for a moment and decided to tell him the truth, poor thing.
So he said, “I followed the footprints I left behind and found a small team that was still tracking us. Then I killed them. They were all experimental subjects without skill cards. They hadn’t even figured out the implanted abilities before I killed them.”
"Then, this idiot... I call him Catfish. Look how ugly this moron is. He escaped from my grasp and ended up running into you by some twist of fate."
Bai Liang stood up, looked at the gruesome corpse on the ground, and was unsure what to do.
"You've been back for a while?"
“Yes.” He Yu nodded, his tone returning to the one he had used when they first met, devoid of any extra emotion: “Because I want to know how you survived the onslaught of so many experimental subjects in the beginning.”
"Just for this kind of shit?" Bai Liang listened blankly, unable to process the information.
"Yes, it turns out I was overthinking it." He Yu admitted it directly, there was no point in hiding it. He now understood just how lucky Bai Liang was, maybe it was a kind of gaming skill, who knows.
It's a real shame. He thought this guy was a wolf in sheep's clothing, but it turns out he's just as ordinary as he appears.
Let's think about it from another angle: at least teammates who don't hide their strength will betray you.
Frankly speaking, He Yu would rather have a burden to carry until the end, and then spend some time killing him.
Bai Liang looked at him for a while, then suddenly laughed hysterically and said, "Sorry... this is too funny. We've formed a team that looks unstable, and we're all wary of each other. If one of us dies first, the other guy might celebrate. If he doesn't die, then he's just lucky."
He Yu didn't respond; he was the only one laughing. His words were both noble and boring, leaving one unsure how to react.
Finally, after thinking for a long time, he stood up and said, "I'm leaving. Do you want to keep up?"
Alright, life goes on. As long as we don't keep looking back at those tragic scenes, that's enough.
Bai Liang stared blankly for a moment, then finally looked up and said, "Of course."
