Chapter 27

Chapter 27

A white mist rose from the mountains and forests, and the sound of guns and sabers being sorted could be heard constantly. The stench was thick, and the air seemed to be condensed with tiny shards of ice, which weighed heavily on the internal organs with a sharp, cracking force.

——As an Alpha adopted by the Clement family since childhood, Xia Feng had experienced scenes similar to this beast tide in countless simulated battles within the family. The moment the loud noise came, she calmly helped cover the Beta's ears, her black eyes staring emotionlessly at the gradually emerging black tide in the distance.

"Summer breeze, summer breeze..."

Shi Yu's voice was intermittent, with a hint of sobbing.

Her body was extremely hot, and the blush on her cheeks was as bright as if she had been burned. Shi Yu knew that the surrounding environment was very cold... How could it not be cold in the mountains and forests? But now she was extremely hot, the moisture rushed to her head, and sweat dripped down from the heat.

When Xia Feng's cool fingertips touched her earlobe, goose bumps instantly appeared on Shi Yu's arms and neck. She felt her heart pounding uncontrollably, the back of her neck throbbing, and her skin shuddered all over. Shi Yu sobbed and cried for no apparent reason. She didn't know what was going on, so she could only tilt her head to the side to rub against Xia Feng.

The young Alpha's fingertips froze slightly when she rubbed them, and she instinctively moved her fingers away, dodging Shi Yu's cheek which was still trying to catch up with her.

Xia Feng frowned slightly, unable to help but glance distractedly at Beta, who was now relying on others to barely hold himself up, yet remained restless. Shi Yu received Xia Feng's cold gaze with confusion. That face, which had shown little expression since they first met, seemed to frighten her a little. Feeling that she had angered Xia Feng, Shi Yu, tears streaming down her face, tugged at the corner of his clean shirt. "I, I'm a little upset... I'm sorry."

She apologized in a confused manner.

Xia Feng lowered his black eyes slightly, and his serious gaze swept across Shi Yu's soft and moist face. Then the girl Alpha looked away, pursed her lips, and used a little strength to pinch and move away Shi Yu's fingers that were clutching the corner of her clothes.

Shi Yu shuddered, obeyed the force of the summer breeze, and obediently let go of the piece of cloth.

"Are you scared?" Her pupils shrank as she gazed towards the distant mountains. Xia Feng hid her abnormality well. She calmly held Beta's sweaty palm and suggested, "You can close your eyes, but it's best not to fall asleep."

No—she wasn’t afraid…!

Shi Yu wanted to explain, but in the end she could only cough out two intermittent breaths. Her world suddenly darkened, and in the distance there was a sound of thunder brewing in the clouds. The sound of locust-like limbs advancing was densely packed under the deep water. Shi Yu was panicked, and sweat soaked her body in an instant. The strange premonition made her whole body filled with indescribable excitement and helplessness.

As the branches and leaves rustled and the rain fell, it seemed as if I could hear a sharp scream coming from far away across the river.

...?

Shigure opened his tearful eyes wide and saw that it was a gigantic alien—

Her fleshy body was shapeless, but her limp, muddy lower half had split into countless limbs. Thick strips of flesh transformed into arrows, stabbing at the surrounding teenagers with impenetrable force. Broken branches and leaves swirled in the sky. She felt as if she were at the end of the world, everything becoming terrifying and bizarre.

A strong stench entered the nose, but before the monster's second roar could reach its full height, it was completely ended by a fierce sound of gunfire.

The blue-haired boy carrying a gun cursed angrily. He stood on the periphery, and his hoarse and angry voice sounded even scarier than the alien's roar. After the orange-red fireworks burned the monster, the boy angrily swung the gun at the people around him, and the scolding came out of his mouth in an instant with a loud voice.

…Shigure shrank back.

As if driven by the blue-haired man's emotions, continuous curses and gunshots came from all around. They looked like they were preparing to fight something, but now the team was full of gunpowder. Shigure felt that this group of teenagers was more violent and chaotic than before.

Shi Yu leaned pitifully and powerlessly in Xia Feng's arms. The young Alpha held Shi Yu's waist with one hand, freeing one hand to untie the leather straps around her thighs and draw out her saber. Xia Feng frowned and looked around, then took a deep, shallow breath, his warm, thin chest rising and falling slightly.

Xia Feng told her briefly: "Don't listen."

Shi Yu can't hear it either...

She breathed weakly, not having the energy to answer Xia Feng. But perhaps because of the unsettled emotions in her heart, Shi Yu moved her head and wearily glanced in the direction Xia Feng would occasionally look.

The clearing they were in was high, and as far as the eye could see, the clouds darkened, the looming mountains and the vast forests below gradually faded into deep green. Layers of undulating black specks, from dots to lines, then lines to surfaces, surged towards them with the sound of rolling thunder, overturning all vegetation and life behind them, like an impending natural disaster.

Shi Yu stared blankly down, she had no idea what that black mass was… Her instinct told her to run, but her heartbeat pounded against her ears, so intense it seemed to be slowly separating from her consciousness. She was now in a trance, even more exaggerated than dreaming with her eyes open. Guiding her limbs to perform any movement was incredibly difficult for her…

The stench was still thick, and Shigure's chest slowly began to suffocate. Suddenly, she heard another voice, almost hoarse, shouting, "Stop losing your temper, damn it! It's coming!"

Shi Yu was frightened by the voice. She was already in pain and nervous, and the chaotic mixture of emotions made her involuntarily scream out followed by a torn voice, and her tone sounded so panicked that she was on the verge of losing control.

Xia Feng let out a light sigh. Amid the second monster's violent and exaggerated movements, the Alpha held down the back of the girl's head, and Shi Yu was quickly pressed on a pair of slender and cold shoulder bones. All sounds were instantly blocked by Xia Feng's embrace, and she vaguely touched the dry and warm sunlight while suffocating.

It’s the smell of the sun… Shigure thought while crying, but could the smell of the sun actually be body odor…?

The wet hair was entangled in Xia Feng's slender fingers. The girl in his arms was holding Xia Feng's arm as if she was grasping at a life-saving straw. She was stunned for a moment in fear, and then, like a child being comforted, her tears soaked a little bit of the bandage that Xia Feng had wrapped tightly, and she choked with grievance.

"Xia Feng..."

Shi Yu used his last bit of strength to hang his arms on Xia Feng's shoulders, whispering Xia Feng's name.

Xia Feng didn't say anything. Her special ability began to take effect. Her black eyes focused and calmly reflected the shapes of the huge monsters outside. Even though she couldn't participate in the battle, she stared at those things. The hunting instinct made her fingers unconsciously rub the hilt of the knife, and the muscles in her legs began to exert force.

"... Summer Breeze, Summer Breeze."

The girl buried herself in her arms, her ears were bright red, and her voice was as weak as a cat's meow.

From Xia Feng's tight and graceful arms to her flexible and slender waist, when Shi Yu's fingertips inadvertently touched Xia Feng's body, the girl's firm and beautiful muscles would contract and bounce. Shi Yu felt that she was so willful. She wanted Xia Feng to look at her more, so she tried to attract her attention clumsily.

Xia Feng didn't stop her at first, not because he didn't notice, but because he didn't care.

Alphas have very low physical sensitivity. They are required to get used to pain during various training and combat operations. As the aggressors, their instincts are actually more difficult to mobilize than imagined.

Shi Yu leaned forward, dazed, unsure why she'd parted her hair, revealing her vulnerable neck. That patch of pure white skin felt like goat's milk, its delicate, thin bulge throbbing unbearably. Shi Yu felt a faint craving for pain, so she whimpered and honestly submitted to the hunter's sharp fangs, like a believer obsessed with self-sacrifice.

The air no longer smelled unpleasant. The scent of sunshine and fruit made her dizzy. Shiyu was so satisfied that she almost sighed deeply. Suddenly, a lot of things played in her mind like a revolving lantern. She thought of her grandmother. Shiyu grew up with her grandmother. The older generation would love to let children eat all kinds of fruits. Shiyu, and her friends... their elders were all like this -

Shi Yu also fell in love with fruits because of her grandmother. She was a child who was naturally easy to cultivate various good habits, but every time her grandmother brought back the most, what was her favorite to eat...?

Shi Yu opened her eyes, her pupils dilated, in confusion, but a gentle, nostalgic smile played upon her delicate pink lips. The dream continued uneventfully, and just as she had hoped, the girl's sharp, cold phoenix eyes finally fixed upon her, a bright red glow at the corners. She suppressed her breaths, her breaths deeply and awkwardly adjusted, the small, lovely piece of cartilage in her throat rolling unconsciously.

The first time Shi Yu saw Xia Feng, her always indifferent eyes now contained such fierceness and disbelief, as if she wanted to get to know her all over again. Xia Feng looked at her with a somewhat fierce look, and then Shi Yu was grabbed tightly by the butterfly bone on her back and dragged up.

Pain is something Shi Yu likes very much now. She is not afraid and happily hugs Xia Feng's slender white neck, because Xia Feng is a little tall... She couldn't do this in her arms before.

Shi Yu saw Xia Feng narrowing his dark eyes in a forbearing manner from a close distance. When his sharp teeth were about to be exposed, Xia Feng swallowed hard and said hoarsely and softly, "You..."

She couldn't speak, the muscles on her arms were twisted and tensed, Xia Feng bit her lower lip tightly, her eyebrows raised, and the cold edge of the saber flashed across her fingertips. The girl Alpha stabbed her thigh cleanly and neatly. The strong smell of blood brought Shi Yu back to her senses.

She screamed "Ah" and without Xia Feng's support, Shi Yu collapsed limply to the ground.

...His nose moved slightly, and Shi Yu suddenly smelled the strong, slightly sour and sweet aroma of strawberries.

The sounds of gunfire around him disappeared at some point, but the roars of the monsters continued. Shi Yu sat on the ground, looking confusedly at the young men around him who were frozen in time.

They didn't speak, but whether they were on guard against the monster or the young man was still fighting with it, they all had strange expressions on their faces, and turned their heads quickly and in unison to look towards the center of the open space.

Shi Yu slowly opened his tearful eyes, his heart began to beat wildly uncontrollably, and the throbbing feeling of hypothermia spread to every part of his body little by little.

For some reason, Shi Yu suddenly felt that these young men were even more terrifying than the aliens outside. It was as if they were the real monsters that could tear people apart and eat them.
