Chapter 142 Seven Days

"Xiaochun, why are you here?" Lin Yun still had a smile on his face and gestured for Mo Jingchun to sit down.

"Auntie Lin." Mo Jingchun looked a little embarrassed. He glanced at the seat next to him and sat down.

"What's wrong? Is there something you want to talk to me about?" Lin Yun asked.

"Actually...it's nothing."

Mo Jingchun looked around and rubbed his hands uncomfortably.

Looking at Mo Jingchun's expression, Lin Yun immediately understood what was going on. He stood up and walked to the water dispenser beside him and poured a glass of water for Mo Jingchun.

"Come and have a drink of water, Xiaochun."

"Thank you, Aunt Lin." Mo Jingchun took the cup of water from Lin Yun's hand.

"Who are you looking for? We don't have any acquaintances of yours in our Public Security Bureau." Lin Yun leaned against the huge black office desk and looked at Mo Jingchun beside him.

"Ahem," Mo Jingchun choked on the water, "There's no Aunt Lin."

"Xiaochun, how did you learn to lie?" Lin Yun shook his head. "Didn't you say you would never lie?"

Mo Jingchun didn't say anything, just drank water in silence.

"Alright Jingchun, you can go back first." Lin Yun sighed, "I still have a lot of things to do. Now is working time."

"Okay, I won't disturb you from working, Aunt Lin." Mo Jingchun stood up and said to Lin Yun, then walked to the glass door.

"Um."

Mo Jingchun left Lin Yun's office and walked along the corridor to the hall. The hall was full of desks and many policemen were walking back and forth. Mo Jingchun looked around but still couldn't find the familiar figure.

Mo Jingchun sighed, turned and walked towards the elevator going downstairs.

Not long after Mo Jingchun left, Jiang Li also came out of the bathroom.

Jiang Li patted his pale face with his hands, his black pupils reflected a faint shadow. Although the people around him were extremely busy, they couldn't help but keep their eyes on her for a short while.

Jiang Li followed his memory and walked back to Lin Yun's office. He curled his stiff lips, put on a smile and knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Jiang Li pushed open the glass door and walked back into the office.

She took a few steps forward and moved away from the seat where she had been sitting, but she noticed with her sharp eyes that there was an extra glass of water on the seat where she had been sitting.

Jiang Li was slightly stunned, but still sat down.

The fact was indeed as Lin Yun said on the phone, the matter was not complicated, it only required a simple confirmation.

"Okay, then this file will be stored in the police database and sealed." Lin Yun put the file away and stuffed it back into the drawer.

"Aunt Lin Yun, can I go now?"

Jiang Li smiled and clasped his hands tightly between his legs.

"Yeah," Lin Yun lowered his head and said in a somewhat dull voice.

Jiang Li staggered when she stood up, seeming a little unsteady. She pushed the chair away, turned around and walked towards the door.

One step, two steps, Jiang Li is about to leave here.

"Jiang Li."

Jiang Li had just put his hand on the glass door handle when Lin Yun's voice came from behind him again. Jiang Li trembled all over and turned around stiffly.

"What's wrong? Aunt Lin Yun?"

"Don't you have anything to say to me?" Lin Yun's gaze stayed on Jiang Li's face.

"I……"

"Jiang Li, you have always been a very careful person. Do you know who drank the glass of water in front of you?" Lin Yun continued.

This glass of water...

Jiang Li's gaze moved downwards, finally resting on the glass of water. She could certainly guess who drank it.

"Jiang Li, you know Mo Jingchun, right?"

…………

There was a long silence. In this well-soundproofed office, not even the sound from outside could be heard.

The sound of the wind, the noise, the sound of moving clouds, the ticking of the clock on the desk, the sound of heartbeats.

"call."

Jiang Li took a deep breath of air, and his heart, which had been beating wildly due to nervousness, began to slowly calm down, beating one by one, as if it would stop in the next second.

Her throat felt like it was blocked by a stone, and an inexplicable bitterness filled her lips and teeth.

Jiang Li knew that this day would come sooner or later. She was not a fool, and neither was anyone else.

"You... are the girlfriend that Mo Jingchun mentioned, right?" Lin Yun's voice was hesitant, but he still expressed his guess.

But the only response she got was a long silence.

Jiang Li lowered her head, making it difficult to see her expression. Her eyes were somewhat unfocused, and it seemed as if even the floor was shaking slightly.

"well."

Lin Yun sighed deeply. Jiang Li was the girlfriend that Mo Jingchun was talking about. She had never expected this.

She knew that they were in the same high school, but she didn't know that there was such a relationship between them.

Similarly, she also thought of the deliberate concealment of these meetings.

A hint of hesitation appeared in Lin Yun's originally sharp eyes. Looking at Jiang Li's expression, Mo Jingchun didn't know anything about her.

"He doesn't know yet, right?" Lin Yun asked tentatively.

silence.

"Did you never think of confessing to him in these four years?"

silence.

"Jiang Li, now that things have come to this, what do you want to do?"

Still silence.

Lin Yun's expression was quite complicated. Looking at Jiang Li who was keeping his head down and silent in front of her, she felt distressed.

It's not just because she looks like Yang Xue, but also because of the suffering this girl has endured.
