Early in the morning, Jiang Li knocked on Mo Jingchun's door on time.
“Crack.”
Mo Jingchun opened the door. Seeing this, Jiang Li didn't say anything, but turned around silently and took him downstairs. After having breakfast at a nearby store, they rushed to the station not far away.
It was Mo Jingchun's first time taking such a bus, and he didn't need to buy a ticket in advance. Instead, after getting on the bus, the conductor would ask you where you were going, and then charge you based on the distance.
The conductor spoke in the local dialect, which Mo Jingchun could hardly understand. After Jiang Li paid for the ticket, he leaned his head on the cushion behind him.
The shuttle bus is not very fast, and the surrounding scenery can be seen clearly.
Jiang Li looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar scenery along the way, and the sadness of returning to her hometown once again surged in her heart. She didn't know what she would experience next.
The road conditions were not good. Mo Jingchun sat in the car, which kept shaking along with the shuttle bus. He looked at Jiang Li next to him, but the latter did not react at all.
Mo Jingchun could feel that there was an indescribable emotion permeating her.
The car smelled strongly of gasoline, and even when leaning next to Jiang Li, Mo Jingchun could not smell the elegant floral fragrance.
After nearly two hours of silence, the bus arrived at the terminal, which was Jiang Li's hometown, an unknown small town.
When Jiang Li set foot on her hometown again, she didn't react at all. Her long black hair was still draped behind her, and her expression was very calm, as if she had come to a very ordinary place.
Mo Jingchun looked around curiously. There was no bustling city here, only the tranquility and harmony unique to the countryside.
The warm sunlight shone on my body, causing a thin layer of sweat. People passing by looked at the two unfamiliar faces with some curiosity, as if they were curious about whose children they were.
"Let's go."
Jiang Li took a deep breath and didn't want to waste time, so he called Mo Jingchun and walked towards his home.
Everything familiar appeared before his eyes again. Jiang Li needed to muster up all his courage to take every step.
Her heart was trembling constantly, filled with both anticipation and sadness, but more of it was the longing for her grandmother.
The two were walking on a small path. Not far away from them, there was a row of houses and Jiang Li's home was one of them.
After four years away, my hometown hasn't changed much and everything seems to be the same as before.
Finally, the two of them arrived near Jiang Li's home. Whether it was the white walls or the tightly closed light red door panels, everything was stirring the nerves in Jiang Li's heart.
She looked at the gray stone floor not far from the door. Four years ago, it was here that she bid farewell to her hometown and closed her heart ever since.
Jiang Li originally thought that she would be alone from now on, but she didn't expect that the lush green spring would break through the defenses in her heart and let her walk into the spring.
Mo Jingchun didn't say anything, looking at Jiang Li who was silent beside her. It turned out that this was her home.
Jiang Li plucked up his courage, approached the tightly sealed red wooden door, and knocked on it with his finger.
“Knock knock.”
A dull sound came from the red wooden door. Mo Jingchun stood by and watched her knock on the door. After Jiang Li knocked several times, there was finally a response from inside.
There was a sound of door locks colliding, and the red wooden door opened from the inside. Standing in front of the two men was a beautiful girl.
The girl had big eyes and short hair, and she looked at the two people in front of her with some confusion.
Bai Lu blinked, and after a brief moment of confusion, she recognized the beautiful girl standing in front of her.
The pale-faced and expressionless person in front of her was none other than her former family member, Jiang Li.
Bai Lu's expression was dim, and her eyes were slightly red, as if she had just cried not long ago. She looked at Jiang Li, who was familiar yet unfamiliar, and then glanced at Mo Jingchun on the other side.
"You're back." Bai Lu said softly.
"Yeah," Jiang Li nodded, "I'm back."
There was a long silence, and neither side spoke, as if they were gradually digesting the shock brought by this meeting.
"Come in first," Bai Lu turned sideways and opened the red door, inviting the two people in.
"Grandma, how is she?"
Jiang Li followed Bai Lu and asked, while Mo Jingchun stood beside her, observing Jiang Li's former home.
"Grandma is in very bad condition and is hanging on to her last breath. She said she must see you," Bai Lu said as she led the two of them up the stairs. She looked at Mo Jingchun hesitantly.
After hesitating for a while, Bai Lu finally did not ask, but silently led the two of them upstairs.
At this moment, the living room on the second floor was full of the Bai family.
"Brother, she's here."
Bai Lu led the two of them into the living room and spoke to Bai Ye who was standing by the wall.
Bai Ye raised his head and looked at Jiang Li. His eyes shifted slightly and then moved to Mo Jingchun.
Mo Jingchun is extremely handsome, and he looks strangely well-matched standing next to Jiang Li, making people doubt their relationship.
Jiang Li looked at the other people sitting in the living room, her uncle, her aunt, and her father Bai Cheng, who used to sit in the very corner with his back to her.
In four years, the elders in the family seemed to have grown older, and Bai Lu also grew up.
Many things have quietly changed with the passage of time, just like Jiang Li now, standing here like a stranger.
"Bai Ye, do you really have to call this monster back home? Don't you think it's bad luck?"
Four years have passed, and Bai Cheng's temper has not diminished at all. Instead, he has become even more irritable.
After Jiang Li left, the gossip from the neighbors not only did not decrease, but they even said that the family was heartless and forced Jiang Li to leave.
Sometimes people are so ridiculous. Before the avalanche, no snowflake is innocent. They are obviously one of the culprits, but after Jiang Li left, they said such words, pretending to be so-called good people.
People's gossips bring unparalleled destructive power. They always seem to stand from the perspective of the majority, standing in a supreme position, pointing fingers at the so-called outliers with contempt and cruelty until they can no longer bear it and go to destruction.
This is a very sad thing, but it is a true portrayal of countless people.
"Uncle, did you hear what grandma said?"
Bai Ye frowned and looked at his uncle, "Do you really want her to leave with regrets?"
"Bai Cheng and Bai Ye, both of you should keep your voices down," the uncle stood up at this time. His face looked unhappy, as if he had been working hard for a long time. "Stop arguing. Wouldn't it be better if you just kept quiet?"
