Chapter 20 Power Outage

The two walked out of the school and came to the bus stop.

"How about seeing it?"

Mo Jingchun pushed out a brand new bicycle from the side and placed it in front of Jiang Li.

The overall color scheme of this bicycle is white and gray, which is very similar to Jiang Li’s previous one.

"What are you doing?"

Jiang Li grabbed the peace locket hanging on his chest through his school uniform.

"Didn't I say I'd compensate you?"

Mo Jingchun reached out and slapped the black seat of the bicycle hard, making a dull sound.

"Hurry up," Mo Jingchun reached out and grabbed Jiang Li's other hand, placing it on the handlebars of the bicycle, "Don't you still want to go home?"

"Thank you," Jiang Li calmly pulled his hand back from Mo Jingchun while holding onto the bicycle, "You're a good person."

"Haha, Jiang Li, you are really weird."

"What's wrong?" Jiang Li subconsciously tilted his head to the side, a puzzled look on his face, "Did I say something wrong?"

Mo Jingchun scratched the back of his head twice, "That means there's definitely no problem, but..."

Mo Jingchun took a step forward, and Jiang Li took a step back, holding the bicycle with his left foot.

"I always feel like when you talk to people, it's not like you're talking," Mo Jingchun leaned in closer, his eyes filled with curiosity, "It's like... like a war is going on."

Jiang Li pushed Mo Jingchun away, "Compared to me, you are the weirder one."

"I'm weird?" Mo Jingchun laughed. "What's weird about me?"

"What's weird about you..." Jiang Li was stunned. Yes, apart from the fact that he liked to stare at the sky during class, had a cocky personality, and didn't like to interact with people in the class, there didn't seem to be anything strange about Mo Jingchun. At best, he was just not sociable.

Although I don't have a cocky personality like Mo Jingchun, my other characteristics are similar. I don't communicate with others, have difficulty communicating, and have a reserved personality. I should be the weird one.

No, that's not right.

Jiang Li shook his head, feeling as if he had been misled by Mo Jingchun.

"What exactly do you want to say?" Jiang Li raised his head and looked at Mo Jingchun steadily.

"I don't have anything to say. We're even now." Mo Jingchun smiled and walked in the opposite direction. "Goodbye, Jiang Li."

In the setting sun, half of the handsome boy's face was covered with red marks. Jiang Li stood there blankly, and could only see the remaining smile at the corner of his mouth.

Half a minute later, Jiang Li turned around and got on the bike.

…………

"What’s wrong with you?"

Jiang Li put down the Chinese textbook in his hand and looked at his deskmate.

Mo Jingchun returned his gaze and touched his earlobe, "No, no, nothing."

The attempt to cover up was very clumsy. Jiang Li did not say anything. For a moment, the two of them fell silent and the air seemed to freeze.

"Stop looking at me."

Jiang Li was the first to break the silence, then quietly lowered his head and wrote his homework in the Chinese exercise book.

"Oh," Mo Jingchun pretended to look out the window absentmindedly, and after waiting for a while, he secretly looked at Jiang Li.

"Sure enough," Mo Jingchun thought to himself. Although he had made a meaningless bet with Xu Fan, he had to admit that his deskmate, whom he had never looked at directly, was indeed very beautiful.

But no matter how beautiful she is, she is really too gloomy.

Mo Jingchun raised her head confidently. A handsome guy like himself stared at her for half the class, but the latter didn't react at all. Mo Jingchun seriously suspected that his deskmate had facial paralysis.

If Mo Jingchun didn't receive love letters every day, he would have doubted his own looks by now.

Jiang Li frowned. Mo Jingchun's gaze made her feel uncomfortable.

Jiang Li and Shang Shuben turned their heads to look at Mo Jingchun, "You..."

"Ah! Wow!"

The originally bright classroom suddenly fell into darkness. The sudden power outage caused everyone in the class to scream in surprise.

"Quiet."

The teacher banged the table to maintain order, which also stabilized the situation which had just been a little chaotic.

"rumble."

There was a dull thunder in the sky in the corridor outside the window, and a sudden heavy rain was about to pour down.

The teacher turned on his cell phone and received a message that there was a sudden power outage in the area and the power restoration time was unclear, so the teacher was asked to control the students first.

"Light the candles first. There are still some candles in the classroom."

The teacher asked several students to take out dozens of white candles from the cabinet in the classroom and distributed them to every corner of the classroom.

What Jiang Li was about to say was interrupted by the sudden power outage. She turned around and chose to remain silent.

"There's a lighter under the drawer, teacher."

"Oh, okay..."

As the candles lit, the originally dim classroom became visible again.

Jiang Li and the others also received a candle, which was placed on Mo Jingchun's table.

"Clatter, clatter, clatter."

After a few dull thunders, heavy rain poured down, accompanied by the howling wind.

A strong wind blew and instantly extinguished several candles. The teacher immediately asked the students to close the doors and windows.

"Da da."

The window was shaking due to the strong wind, but at least the candle was not extinguished again.

With the dim light of the candle, Mo Jingchun saw Jiang Li's still calm expression.

No, it’s not so much a calm expression as it is that she has always maintained this look - she may really have facial paralysis.

Jiang Li turned her head slightly and found Mo Jingchun peeking at her.

"I'm not peeking at you," Mo Jingchun saw Jiang Lixiu's beautiful brows furrowed, "I'm just wondering when the call will come?"

Jiang Li didn't say anything, just looked at the flickering candlelight between the two of them.

It was raining heavily outside the window, and the howling wind was still hitting the window. In the dim sky in the distance, there were several bright lightning bolts swirling in it.

"Will it take four hours?"

The teachers have received news from the Academic Affairs Office that this large-scale power outage will last for four hours, and the school has decided to dismiss students early.

"School is dismissed early now. If you need to contact parents to pick up your children, you can come to me."

The teacher patted the table and spoke to the students below the podium. As soon as she finished speaking, the people around her cheered, as did the entire senior year department.

The cheers seemed to form a sound wave, making the tall building shake.

Unlike the cheering crowd, Jiang Li and Mo Jingchun did not make any move. One of them looked out the window silently, while the other continued to stare at the flickering candlelight.

Two equally lonely people, I don’t know what they are thinking.

The people around gathered around the podium. After hearing that school was dismissed early, they all lost the mood to stay in their seats. The teachers and the head teacher had already sent this message to the students' parents group.

All they have to do is wait for their parents to pick them up and take them home.
