Chapter 39 Breakfast

"Now you're the only one left." Teacher Liu turned to look at Mo Jingchun who was sitting in the back. "Where do you live?"

"Teacher Liu," Mo Jingchun sat quietly in the back row after Jiang Li left, a rare serious look on his face, "Thank you."

Teacher Liu sighed when he saw this. "What are you talking about? As a teacher, isn't this what I should do?"

"Haha," Mo Jingchun laughed, "I don't like to owe favors to others. I have to thank you no matter what."

"Oh right," Mo Jingchun thought of the situation Jiang Li would face when he got home later, "Teacher Liu, if Jiang Li's parents..."

"Don't worry, it won't happen." Teacher Liu said affirmatively, "Since Jiang Li has forgiven you, there's nothing wrong."

"Well... okay," Mo Jingchun hesitated for a moment and nodded, "Then tell me the medical expenses and other expenses that Jiang Li spent in the hospital. I will pay you back tonight."

"There's no rush." Teacher Liu waved his hand. "It's a little late now. I'll take you back first."

"Just take me to the bus stop in front, and I'll take the bus back." Mo Jingchun pointed to the bus stop in the distance.

"Don't you need me to take you back?"

Teacher Liu started the car and drove towards the bus stop.

"It's okay," Mo Jingchun shook his head. "My home is a bit far away, and I can't keep wasting your time, Old Liu."

Teacher Liu smiled and shook his head, feeling somewhat helpless about how he had regained his old self in Mo Jingchun's mouth. "You're so disrespectful."

"Goodbye, then."

Mo Jingchun stood at the bus stop and waved to Teacher Liu.

After seeing Teacher Liu driving away, Mo Jingchun sat down on the seat at the bus stop and waited quietly for the bus.

Besides him, there were only a few people standing in twos and threes at the bus stop. The evening rush hour had long passed, and most people had returned home. Only a few lost souls remained somewhere in the city.

Mo Jingchun withdrew his gaze and looked up at the sky. Looking at the starry night sky, the gentle voice seemed to come to his ears again.

——

"Our Jingchun is the best."

"Jingchun, you have to take good care of your sister and promise mom that you will always be happy."

"I'm sorry, Mom didn't mean to lie to you..."

——

“Ding ding!”

A loud whistle sounded from the bus stop, waking Mo Jingchun from his memories. He quickly got up from his seat at the station, took out two coins from his pocket, and walked into the bus.

Mo Jingchun also had to go home, back to the home where only three people were left and it was no longer warm.

…………

"Bishop, why did you buy two rice balls?"

Mo Ling looked at Mo Jingchun who was holding two rice balls in his hands and asked a question.

"Ouch," Mo Ling touched his head and looked at his brother with some resentment.

"Children shouldn't ask about adult matters."

Mo Jingchun retracted his two fingers and stuffed one of the rice balls into the pocket of his school uniform.

"What?" Mo Ling was a little unconvinced, "Aren't you only one year older than me?"

After Mo Ling finished speaking, he quickly used both hands to protect his head to prevent Mo Jingchun from hitting him again.

But Mo Jingchun didn't do that. He peeled off another rice ball and took a big bite.

"I'm older than you even if I'm one year older. I'm your brother after all. Come on, what are you having for breakfast this morning?"

"Oh," Mo Ling responded somewhat aggrievedly, listening to his brother's vague voice pointing to a breakfast shop in front.

"Okay, okay, you kill me again."

Although Mo Jingchun complained, he still consciously walked to the breakfast shop that Mo Ling pointed to and queued up.

About five minutes later, Mo Jingchun came out of the breakfast shop with a bowl of crab roe noodles and handed it to Mo Ling who was waiting nearby.

"Eat at school, or you'll be late."

Mo Jingchun ate the rice ball in his hand clean in two bites, crumpled the wrapping paper into a ball and threw it into the trash can next to him.

Mo Ling nodded and walked with her brother across the street where breakfast was sold, heading towards the west gate of Hangzhou No. 3 Middle School.

When Mo Jingchun arrived at Class 407, the morning reading bell had just rung. It was obvious that this was going to be another exciting day of going to school on time.

Mo Jingchun entered from the back door, and his deskmate Jiang Li had already come to his seat.

There is no need to stand up during morning reading at No. 3 Middle School. Except for the first 20 minutes of reciting ancient poems together, students are free to arrange the content of the recitation afterwards.

Of course, we would occasionally encounter teachers who came to inspect the class, as well as principals who were glaring at us from outside the window.

Today, Jiang Li, with a white gauze on her head, attracted the attention of many people in the class, and they all looked at her intentionally or unintentionally.

Mo Jingchun raised his head with a bad expression. Those who were watching Jiang Li as if they were watching a show, had to withdraw their strange gazes in disappointment after meeting his eyes.

"Here, Jiang Li, I accidentally bought an extra rice ball this morning. Please help me eat it."

There was something on the table. Jiang Li lowered her head wrapped in gauze and saw the rice ball that the latter had placed between her arms.

"No," Jiang Li shook his head, grabbed the rice ball and put it back on Mo Jingchun's table.

"Hey, what are you doing? You don't even give me face."

Mo Jingchun pretended to whine, and without explanation, he tore open the rice ball and forced it into Jiang Li's hand. "Don't waste food, Jiang Li, or I will despise you."

Jiang Li felt somewhat helpless. Her right hand was holding a plump, greasy rice ball. "Mo Jingchun, you don't have to be like this. I don't blame you. Don't feel guilty."
