Jiang Li was standing on the rooftop of the Dream Yuanming Tower.
At the end of September, early autumn has already arrived. The air is crisp and clear, and every breath makes people relax their body and mind unconsciously.
Standing on the rooftop, I gazed out over the endless stream of orange cars; overhead was the boundless night sky dotted with stars; and around me...
Jiang Li withdrew his gaze.
The sound of an iron door closing came from behind him. Mo Jingchun patted the iron fragments that fell on his hands and walked in front of Jiang Li.
In addition to the protruding cement room at the entrance of the stairs and the lounge chair they made behind it, there is also a shed covering half of the roof on the right side, which is filled with discarded tables and chairs from various periods of the school.
There are wooden tables and chairs, iron ones, and some newly replaced plastic tables and chairs. In short, there are many of them and they are messy.
Mo Jingchun walked in front, rubbing his hands excitedly.
Jiang Li followed behind with a calm expression.
When they walked to the iron shed, Mo Jingchun waved to Jiang Li to wait for him outside for a while, then he climbed onto the tables and benches piled outside and nimbly got inside.
After Jiang Li waited quietly for a few minutes, Mo Jingchun came out again holding a long object.
"Look," Mo Jingchun handed the item in his arms to Jiang Li, "This is my secret."
The folded tripod and a long cylindrical lens as thick as an arm form an astronomical telescope.
The long-tube mirror body is painted in a simple silver-white color, and the brand's logo is printed near the star-gazing port. The whole thing looks like a miniature version of a machine gun in an anti-Japanese drama.
Although Mo Jingchun was very excited, Jiang Li's face did not show the expression he expected, and she still maintained the calmness she had when she came.
Mo Jingchun was a little unconvinced. He installed the bracket of the astronomical telescope, and then tinkered with it by himself, adjusting the focal length and detection position in order to achieve the best viewing purpose.
"Jiang Li, come and take a look." Mo Jingchun struggled for more than ten minutes and finally installed the astronomical telescope in the center of the rooftop.
At this moment, the telescope's tilt angle exceeded 90 degrees, facing the night sky above, unscrupulously receiving the baptism of starlight.
Jiang Li nodded, put his eyes close to the stargazing hole and bent his waist slightly.
In an instant, the rolling starry sky flowed into his eyes, dyeing the originally calm and peaceful black pupils into a dazzling brilliance.
"How is it? Beautiful, right?" Mo Jingchun's voice came from above, filled with excitement.
Jiang Li looked up, and a breeze blew across his face, dispelling the gloom from his expression.
"I don't quite understand."
"What's there to not understand? Come." Mo Jingchun said as he adjusted the position of the telescope.
"Do you see that star?" Mo Jingchun pointed.
Jiang Li looked in the direction he pointed. There was a very bright star, twinkling as if greeting her.
"Oh, I didn't tell you to look at it like this?" Mo Jingchun patted the telescope in front of Jiang Li.
Jiang Li followed Mo Jingchun's guidance and put his eyes close to the stargazing hole again.
"That's the alpha star in the Ursa Major constellation, also known as Tianshu," Mo Jingchun explained with interest, "and it's one of the Big Dipper."
As Jiang Li listened to Mo Jingchun's explanation, the arrangement of the Big Dipper automatically emerged in his mind.
After searching for a while, she found seven stars arranged in an orderly manner in the shape of a spoon.
The Tianshu star is located at the mouth of the spoon, emitting blue and white light.
"Oh, look over there again." Mo Jingchun seemed to remember something and pulled Jiang Li to adjust the position of the telescope. "These are the two stars I look at every night."
In the north, two bright stars are facing each other across the Milky Way composed of countless stars.
"Those are Altair and Vega, belonging to the Aquila and Lyra constellations respectively," Mo Jingchun's reminder came just in time.
Jiang Li gently grasped the body of the telescope, as if wanting to adjust its position.
Mo Jingchun reached out and adjusted the focal length to the limit that the telescope could reach.
His action made the two slightly blurry but bright stars in Jiang Li's eyes suddenly become clear.
A gorgeous nebula floats next to the red Vega, while Altair emits a blue halo. To Jiang Li, the two seem to be waving at each other across the galaxy.
"It's nice to watch the stars at night."
Jiang Li held the telescope and looked at the night sky for a long time before standing up.
"Yeah," Jiang Li nodded.
"How are you? Are you feeling better?" Mo Jingchun put his hand on the telescope and smiled.
"Is this why you brought me to see the stars?" Jiang Li touched the bandage on his head. "There's really no need for this."
"Why are you like this?" Mo Jingchun looked a little embarrassed. His thoughts were seen through by Jiang Li again.
Isn’t it said that being in a better mood is beneficial to physical recovery?
"If there's nothing else, I'll leave first." Jiang Li made a gesture to leave.
"Are you leaving now?" Mo Jingchun was a little dumbfounded. "Aren't you going to stay and watch for a while longer?"
At night, on the windy rooftop, with the scorching stars, these things together create the perfect atmosphere, so why doesn't Jiang Li react at all?
Has she lost interest in being human?
Jiang Li stopped talking and just shook his head.
Mo Jingchun curled his lips, looking proud and arrogant. "Then go ahead. I'll enjoy such a beautiful starry sky by myself."
Jiang Li looked at Mo Jingchun's expression. Although there was still no expression on his face, his eyes were slightly curved.
