Chapter 19 I Want to Be with You
Zhou Zhou looked at himself in the mirror. His eyes were filled with water and were as bright and radiant as ever. His picturesque eyebrows were filled with a charming smile.
I was stunned in my heart, but I couldn't control my expression.
She felt the gaze on the back of her head, gentle and steady, waiting for her answer.
Zhou Zhou brushed his hair back and stepped on the accelerator as if nothing had happened, as calm as if he had just checked his appearance. "How could it be? If we are estranged, then I have to draw a clear line between myself and other men."
"Really?" Yan Yiqi said in a gentle tone.
He didn't delve into it and quickly changed the subject, "Zhou Zhou, I'm back this time and I plan to stay in the capital."
His hands gripping the steering wheel tightened slightly.
At 4 p.m., traffic was already thick. My car, having just gotten off the airport overpass, was stuck in traffic, the car in front of me motionless.
The red light lasts a long time, the green light is short, and there is a long stream of traffic ahead. I don’t know how many times I will have to change before I can get through.
The topic that I deliberately avoided seemed to have to be faced because of the traffic jam.
Yan Yiqi patiently told her again and again that he came for her.
He first went to California to look for her. Later, he went to Beijing to look for her. His stay in Beijing was also related to her.
Yan Yiqi is not from Beijing, he is of Chinese descent.
His ancestors went to Singapore for business in their early years and have stayed there ever since. He rarely visits China, but speaks fluent Mandarin, just like someone who grew up there.
"Aren't you staying in Sydney anymore?" Zhou Zhou asked him.
"The professor originally introduced me to his past study experiences," Yan Yiqi said. "Zhou Zhou, you once said you wanted to open an interior design studio after graduation. I want to join you."
I want to be with you.
The weight of this sentence is not just about cooperation.
Zhou Zhou was distracted as he looked at the jumping numbers, and his heart seemed to skip a beat along with the flashing numbers.
She did tell him that, when they were still good.
Her throat was dry, and she swallowed hard before laughing: "Why? Don't forget that you rejected me before, and you regret it after eight months?
"I don't regret it," he said.
Yan Yiqi's answer was as expected, and Zhou Zhou was not disappointed.
Zhou Zhou has always been flexible with men.
The greatest skill of the men she knew was their ability to pretend. They could pretend to be good, bad, innocent, rich, pitiful, or innocent... As long as they could suit a woman's taste, they could immediately change their identities and cater to her needs.
Yan Yiqi was the exception she encountered.
When Zhou Zhou saw Yan Yiqi for the first time, there were only two words in his mind: ethereal.
He was neither good at pretending nor at pleasing others, and was even indifferent and noble, as bright as the moon. He seemed to have no positive or negative side to his humanity, being exactly the same inside and out. His eyes were so clear that they could see through people's hearts.
Her little bit of flexibility was useless in front of him.
Zhou Zhou's voice was slightly slow: "...then who are you?"
Yan Yiqi smiled silently.
He leaned forward, his large hands ruffling her hair again, his gaze gentle and indulgent. "Zhou Zhou, the situation between us is still what I told you eight months ago. I want to start a business with you, and I can't rule out those reasons, but talking to you about work right now is the main thing."
Zhou Zhou was embarrassed for a moment and mumbled "oh".
It was difficult to talk about business in the car, so the two changed the subject and talked about other things.
Yan Yiqi had arrived in a hurry and didn't have a place to stay in the capital. Zhou Zhou first took him to the hotel, dropped off his luggage, and then had dinner in the hotel restaurant.
During the time on the road, the two of them returned to their previous state, and Zhou Zhou chatted and laughed with him freely.
They ordered their food and sat facing each other.
Zhou Zhou asked him, "Are you planning to start a business in Beijing and settle down here in the future?"
"I have this plan. My grandfather is old and sometimes not in his right mind. When he is in his right mind, he always talks about wanting to return to his hometown," said Yan Yiqi.
He said, "If you want to open an interior design studio, design drawings are important, but so is interior design. If the design and interior design concepts don't align, it's easy for ideals and reality to become conflicting. Since you've always pursued perfection, your studio naturally needs to find a decoration company that shares your philosophy."
He handed her the folder he had with him, which contained a document he had prepared.
The folder was a bit thick. Zhou Zhou took a quick look and found that it contained many domestic and foreign cases, as well as his expectations and ideas for the studio. It was obvious that a lot of preparatory work had been done.
Coming to Beijing was a sudden decision, but starting a business with her was a long-planned plan.
The point he made directly was indeed Zhou Zhou’s current predicament.
She came back early this time. In addition to selecting a location for the studio, the most important part of the preliminary preparations was to screen several decoration companies that shared her ideas and sign cooperation agreements.
This is time-consuming.
Firstly, she was a recent graduate and had only participated in a few prestigious competitions in the US, winning awards but lacking practical experience, so she wasn't considered experienced in the market. Secondly, she was a startup, and renovation companies with well-established business concepts looked down on her, as Beijing was rife with small studios.
Rather than taking risks by collaborating with small, second-rate studios, they prefer to look for established interior design companies.
Zhou Zhou glanced through it, closed the folder, and said half-jokingly, "Isn't it a bit of a waste of your talent to start a business with me?"
Yan Yiqixiu's architectural design has similarities with her interior design to a certain extent, but they are also very different.
He was a year older than her and had just graduated from graduate school. His professor recommended him to study at an architectural design company in Sydney.
It was a top-tier architectural design firm, its comprehensive design services unparalleled globally. Given his abilities, he had a bright future there.
What's more, Yan Yiqi has a good family background. If he accumulates experience and opens his own architectural design company, he will definitely become a leader in the industry.
Sharing a piece of the pie with her and doing the interior decoration is a bit like a hero being wasted.
"You take me out to play, and I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up with you after a while," she said.
Yan Yiqi smiled, his tone steady but unyielding. "Zoe, you know me. I'm not impulsive. I'm starting a business with you because I believe in your abilities."
He is definitely not the type to act rashly.
Zhou Zhou has known him for so long and knows him very well.
Yan Yiqi follows the rules and never acts rashly. He is stable and strong at heart.
In the United States, she and he had collaborated on practical projects in several schools, participated in competitions together, and won awards. People always said that they were a match made in heaven.
In terms of design, the two really have a good understanding.
They never got angry during design discussions, nor did they slander each other. Yan Yiqi respected all her ideas, and Zhou Zhou recognized his creativity. The two spent many long nights honing their ideas, finding the most satisfactory solution through repeated revisions.
He had made every possible preparation to cooperate with her, and it was something she couldn't refuse now.
Zhou Zhou smiled calmly: "Okay then, I wish us a happy cooperation."
