Chapter 32: Enjoy the show
It was dinner time, so the two of them had their meal in the hotel restaurant before taking the elevator downstairs.
This hotel is just opposite the residential complex and can be reached by crossing the street.
After leaving the hotel, the two said goodbye at the door. Zhou Zhou casually asked him, "Are you taking a taxi back?"
"drive."
"Driving?" Zhou Zhou raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Your car should still be parked at the club, right?"
"Yeah, I asked the driver to drive over." Cheng Yu took out the car keys from his pocket and unlocked the car.
Zhou Zhou looked over, following the beeping sound. Not far away lay a black Evija. Its chassis was low, and its inline LED headlights flashed like hunting blades. The light, resting there, gave the impression of a rapid-fire cannon ready to be unleashed.
This car is limited edition worldwide. Zhou Zhou saw it at an exhibition two years ago, but he didn't expect that Cheng Yu had one in his hands.
He re-wrapped the car, changing it from a stark black to a more vibrant orange stripe. The car's rugged, dull look was given a vibrant, vibrant hue, just as flamboyant as its owner.
Zhou Zhou couldn't help but complain: "You're really extravagant when you spend over 20 million to buy a tram."
"It's enough for driving around." Cheng Yu played with the car keys nonchalantly. "Do you want me to give it to you?"
Although they say they are giving it as a gift, there is not much sincerity in it, and it is more of a perfunctory gesture.
He wasn't hiding at all, nor was he trying to hide.
Zhou Zhou found it funny: "Cheng Yu, are you always so perfunctory?"
"Not really, I usually don't ask." He answered confidently.
Cheng Yu was not very gentle and considerate towards women, and it was obvious that he did not possess the gentlemanly manners of a man. He seemed to be chatting with her in a nonchalant manner about how beautiful the night was tonight.
Whatever you say depends on your mood.
Cheng Yu’s good mood continued to this day due to the harmony they had in bed last night, so he was happy to just go along with it.
If Zhou Zhou wants him to send it, he will do so.
"I'm home in just a few turns," Zhou Zhou said. "If you take me home, I'll treat you to tea. You're just a sheep in a tiger's den. You're so vulnerable, what are you going to do?"
Cheng Yu half-closed his eyes and smiled, "You're just pretending. You're not bringing a man home."
Without saying anything, he walked down the stairs and to the car.
He opened the car door and tried to get in, but then he straightened up again after thinking of something: "Zhou Zhou."
His voice was not loud, and it drifted into her ears along with the wind.
Zhou Zhou paused and looked back at him: "Anything else?"
"without."
Cheng Yu stood a few meters away, leaning lazily against the car door. The wind outside blew his coat up, but he didn't care and was in no hurry to move.
Zhou Zhou didn't know what he was going to do. After all, this man was used to doing whatever he wanted.
The next second, Cheng Yu raised his hand and waved at her casually as a greeting.
People got into the car, the engine roared low, and the black Evija streaked across the night like a shooting star and quickly disappeared around the corner.
Zhou Zhou thought, it was just his perfunctory response because he was in a good mood.
Zhou Zhou didn't mind her sexual partners' perfunctory behavior in other areas besides sex. She never sought emotional support from them, so these details were unimportant.
If you are not good in bed, everything else is useless.
On the way back, she accepted Cheng Yu's friend request.
She clicked into his Moments, and it was like a lifeless robot. Apart from a few links shared from financial public accounts, there was no content about him.
But it’s normal now. There are a lot of people who have lost the desire to share. Once they click on a Moments, it will be visible for three days.
For several days, neither of them sent messages to each other.
Zhou Zhou likes this rhythm.
A simple relationship between a man and a woman, with frequent contact, loses its most essential flavor.
When Chen Yiyang called, Zhou Zhou was doing VR rendering for the interior design.
The collaboration with Yan Yiqi has been finalized, and the studio's location selection and preparations can begin as soon as he returns from Singapore. If things move faster, perhaps we can open it without waiting until May.
Yan Yiqi has experience in work projects, and she was afraid that she could not keep up with him, so she recently took several orders online to keep her mind and hands active at all times so that she could get into work at any time.
Thinking that he was looking for him to play again, Zhou Zhou answered the phone, pressed the hands-free button and put it aside, waiting for the person on the other end to speak.
She had just taken a sip of juice when a voice suddenly popped up: "Zhou Zhou, did you sleep with Cheng Yu?"
My hand shook and some juice spilled onto the keyboard.
She put down the cup, turned the phone back to the receiver with one hand, wiped the juice off the keyboard with a tissue, and said calmly, "It's only been a few days since the capital warmed up, and it's already fried your brain?"
Chen Yiyang is usually nonchalant, but this time he was serious: "I'm your childhood friend, do you still want to beat around the bush with me?"
Zhou Zhou was silent for a moment before he said, "Did he tell you?"
The breathing over there became noticeably heavier, and soon fell into silence.
Zhou Zhou waited for half a minute but heard nothing, thinking he had hung up. Surprised, he flipped over the screen and saw the call duration numbers were still ticking, clearly indicating the person on the other end hadn't spoken.
She waited quietly without saying anything.
"He didn't tell me, I guessed." After waiting for another half a minute, Chen Yiyang spoke.
He said, "Mr. Pei asked me out for drinks that evening, saying he'd met some new girls. I felt something was amiss, so I checked his messages and found out he'd gone home that day."
He left early that night and thought Pei Shuchen was definitely in trouble.
He didn't ask Zhou Zhou the next day. Compared to caring about Zhou Zhou, people like Pei Shuchen were more like harmless little white rabbits.
It wasn't Pei Shuchen that made Chen Yiyang concerned.
He looked at the chat logs and saw that Cheng Yu had spoken at that moment for the first time. It was just a "Oh," and it was obvious that he had taken on the task of sending Zhou Zhou back home. He usually didn't have the leisure for such things.
Afterwards, Pei Shuchen asked in the group, but neither of them spoke.
Cheng Yu always reads messages but doesn't reply, so no one finds it strange.
Sometimes when people in the group make plans to drink, they tag him four or five times but he doesn’t respond. When the time comes, he comes leisurely. They don’t know whether he will come until they see him.
The next day, Zhou Zhou said in the group that he was drunk, and no one doubted him.
Chen Yiyang is her childhood friend, so he knows how much she can drink.
It’s just that he didn’t check the group that day and missed these messages.
So he unraveled the mystery and suspected that the two had slept together, which was why he had no time to reply to the messages in the group.
After hearing his analysis, Zhou Zhou chuckled with a vague meaning, "Why don't you become a paparazzi? You're sure to find out everything about celebrity gossip."
There was a smile in her voice, but Chen Yiyang on the other side was not in the mood to joke.
He told her with the tone of someone who had experienced it: "Zhou Zhou, Cheng Yu is fine as a friend, but forget about playing with him. He is used to doing whatever he wants. You have also seen how ruthless he is to women. You can't play with him."
Zhou Zhou asked, "You have so little confidence in me?"
"No, there's no need." There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while, as if he was considering what to say.
Zhou Zhou interrupted his thoughts: "When you're immersed in the role, enjoy it. When you're sober, return to your own life. He and I are the same kind of people, so I understand this principle better."
