As autumn deepens, the evening breeze carries a noticeable chill.
Li Yuheng was squatting in the alley behind the convenience store with several stray dogs.
His gaze was precisely fixed on the man who had just walked out of the store, carrying a plastic bag in his hand.
Several bags of milk in plastic packaging were faintly visible.
Li Yuheng's ears twitched.
He remembered that the packaging was like this, and the milk inside was usually chilled.
In the gradually cooling weather, a sip of ice-cold milk sounds quite refreshing.
The spotted dog next to him licked its nose greedily, saying, "It's milk! I can smell it!"
Another big yellow dog, having seen it all, poured cold water on his idea: "Just sniff it. Would they really give it to you? If they actually offered it to you, you definitely shouldn't eat it. Who knows what's mixed in?"
Li Yuheng didn't reply, but his eyes kept following the man.
He saw the man walk to the roadside, take out his phone, seemingly preparing to make a call, and casually place the plastic bag at his feet.
You shouldn't eat food offered to you by others.
But it's different if you ask for it yourself.
Li Yuheng stood up and whispered to the dogs beside him, "Watch, I'm going to show you a special skill."
He adjusted his expression, then walked at a leisurely pace to a spot two or three meters away from the man and sat down.
He watched the man make the phone call quietly.
The man was complaining on the phone, his tone irritable, and he didn't notice the dog at his feet.
Li Yuheng waited patiently.
It wasn't until the man hung up the phone, sighed, and looked down that he saw a rather decent-looking little beagle squatting next to him, staring at him with its round eyes.
The man paused for a moment.
Seizing the moment, Li Yuheng tilted his head slightly and let out a slightly puzzled "Huh?" sound.
He first looked at the man's face, then quickly glanced at the plastic bag on the ground, especially the carton of milk.
Then she quickly looked back at the man's face, her eyes clear, with just the right amount of desire.
The whole process was natural and smooth, as if I had just happened to pass by and been attracted by the contents of the plastic bag.
Looking at the well-behaved dog, and recalling the unpleasant phone call from earlier, the man's irritable mood was inexplicably soothed a little by the quiet little creature.
He crouched down and tentatively reached out his hand.
Li Yuheng leaned forward slightly and gently touched the man's fingertips with the cool tip of his nose, then immediately pulled back, maintaining his sitting posture, only the tip of his tail swayed very slightly.
"You want to drink this?" The man picked up the bag of milk and shook it.
Li Yuheng let out another "woo" at just the right moment.
The man smiled and placed it in front of Li Yuheng.
"Okay, here you go."
Li Yuheng smugly picked up the bag of iced milk, raised his chin at the two dumbfounded stray dogs, and walked away with light steps.
He was holding a milk in his mouth, looking for a quiet place to enjoy it, when he turned a corner and bumped into Shu Bai, who was squatting on the low wall, dozing off with his eyes half-closed.
Li Yuheng stopped in his tracks.
He looked at Shu Bai's languid appearance, then looked down at the milk in his mouth.
A wicked thought popped into my head uncontrollably.
Li Yuheng placed the milk bag against the wall and deliberately poked at it with his paws, making the plastic bag rattle.
Shu Bai lazily opened her eyes, glanced at him, and then closed them again.
Dairy products weren't on his diet, so he had no interest in the bag of milk itself.
"Hey," Li Yuheng called out, looking up at him, "the one up there."
The sparse white space is unreasonable.
He just wanted to quietly bask in the last bit of sunshine.
"Hey, the black and white one." Li Yuheng patted the milk bag with his paw. "See that? Good stuff."
Shu Bai kept its eyes closed, only flicking its tail tip impatiently.
What is this stupid dog up to now?
"Just got some fresh, chilled milk. Tsk tsk, in this weather, a sip of this is so refreshing."
Shu Bai finally opened his eyes. He looked down at Li Yuheng and the bag of milk next to his paws. "Stupid dog. You treat a little trash like it's a treasure."
He genuinely thought this thing was not worth mentioning.
"Trash?" Li Yuheng exclaimed dramatically, "This was just given to me, unopened!"
"Speaking of which... isn't that cat too young to have awakened its demonic power yet?"
"Sigh, it's all about respecting the elderly and caring for the young." Li Yuheng shook his head, his tone utterly sincere.
"Although you have a bad temper and a foul mouth, you're still just a 'little baby.' This milk was originally for my own enjoyment. But I felt sorry for you, so I brought it over—"
"Just so you know—this stuff tastes pretty good. If you want some, you'll have to figure out how to get it yourself."
That's the sentence.
It's this annoying behavior of wanting to show off but insisting on putting on a condescending act.
Shubai still has no craving for milk itself.
But he developed a strong interest in pressing that smug dog face to the ground and rubbing it.
The black and white figure on the wall suddenly darted down.
Shu Bai swiped its paw at Li Yuheng's smug face.
"Ouch!" Li Yuheng didn't expect him to arrive so quickly. He instinctively stepped back, but was still scratched on the nose by a cat's paw, which stung painfully.
"You're asking for death!" Shu Bai landed, his eyes icy, radiating a chilling aura. "Who did you just call a baby?"
Li Yuheng covered his nose, still refusing to back down: "Whoever agrees, I'll say it! What, you got angry because I hit the nail on the head?"
"I'm angry?" Shu Bai sneered, approaching step by step. "I think you're asking for a beating!"
All he wants to do right now is beat up the dog.
"Come on! I'm not afraid of you!" Li Yuheng bared his teeth, adopting an aggressive stance. "If you win, this bag of milk is yours!"
These words are tantamount to adding fuel to the fire.
That stupid dog still thinks he cares about that bag of broken milk?
Without further ado, Shu Bai pounced on him.
Suddenly, the barking of dogs and howling of cats rang out again.
In the end, Li Yuheng made a careless move, and Shu Bai nimbly circled behind him, slapping his hind leg joint with a claw. He staggered in pain.
Taking advantage of the moment, Shu Bai grabbed the bag of milk and, with a few light leaps, returned to the top of the wall.
Shu Bai looked down at the somewhat disheveled Li Yuheng and said coldly, "Useless."
Then, in front of Li Yuheng, he started drinking the bag of iced milk.
The action was clearly deliberate and provocative; it was less about tasting and more about exercising the victor's right and destroying the opponent's spoils.
smell?
He didn't really care much.
Li Yuheng watched from below, and the smugness he felt from successfully being a jerk was quickly replaced by the heartache of having his milk taken away.
That was something he earned with his wisdom after much effort!
I haven't even had a sip yet!
"Hey! You stinky cat! Leave me some!" he couldn't help but shout from below.
Shu Bai ignored him completely, finished drinking, crumpled the empty plastic bag, and threw it down, hitting Li Yuheng's dog head precisely.
He wiped his mouth with his paw, his eyes filled with the contempt of a victor. "The taste is alright. Thanks, you stupid dog."
After saying that, he flicked his tail, jumped off the wall, and disappeared on the other side.
Li Yuheng looked at the empty milk bag on the ground, then touched his still slightly sore nose and hind legs.
"Fine, you stinky cat, you win!"
He muttered a curse under his breath and walked away dejectedly.
