Chapter 1
In an upscale residential complex, the warm white light of the restaurant illuminates two people, one standing and one sitting.
Su Qiong finished last week's report, deftly closed the folder, and reached out to tuck the strands of hair that hung down her face behind her ears. She tugged at the cuffs of her white shirt. Her black skirt and high heels clung to her like duct tape. She stood growing weary, looking at the men eating at the table and praying Mu Yunting wouldn't assign her any more tasks.
Today is the last day of March and also the seventh day since she made up her mind to resign.
Su Qiong was lost in thought. The last big meeting she'd attended was over today, and now she could find an opportunity to tell her boss she was resigning. That way, she could find someone to take over the next project during the gap...
The man finished his breakfast and stood up, his expression steady, as if nothing could stir his emotions. "Prepare a gift for □□."
Su Qiong came back to her senses. She had guessed that this task would come. She adjusted her black-framed glasses and responded straightforwardly.
The glasses are blue light blocking glasses. She has naturally almond-shaped eyes and thinks that wearing glasses will make her look more imposing at work.
Su Qiong suddenly remembered the call she had received earlier and clicked on the calendar on her phone. "Boss, the dinner is at the Victoria Hotel at 6:20 pm, room 110. Mr. Li's daughter, Li Tian, will also be there."
"Prepare an extra gift for her," Mu Yunting said as he walked towards the dressing room. He had just gotten out of bed, but his pajamas were still wrinkle-free, and the air of meticulous work emanated from him.
As the personal secretary of Mu Yunting, president of the Mu Group, Su Qiong's latest project is a collaboration between Mu and Li Group on a smart toilet. This collaboration, which has been ongoing for a year and a half, has finally reached its final conclusion today. With the contract signed, the smart toilet will only have four months left to go on the market. With this work completed, she will have seven days off, and she's planning to use this time to announce her intention to resign.
Su Qiong felt her feet ache. She returned to the living room, pondering what gift to bring. After years in the workplace, she'd already understood the CEO's finicky nature. She anticipated another moment of indecision in the locker room. She shifted her agile posture and sank into the soft leather sofa. She relaxed her limbs, feeling the blood flow to her feet, and collapsed onto the sofa like a lifeless puddle of mud.
□□ is almost fifty, how about giving her tea? Li Tian is a young lady who just started college. Her profile says she likes shopping, so I guess she'd like jewelry...
Not only did she finish the souvenirs, but she also took a break from it. When Su Qiong's wristband vibrated, which signaled the latest time she'd be at work, Mu Yunting still hadn't left the cloakroom, she couldn't stand it any longer. She clattered to the door in her high heels, took a deep breath, and knocked gently.
"Boss, it's time to go to the company." His tone was calm, different from the irritability in his heart.
The door swung open from the inside. Mu Yunting frowned, holding two ties in his hands, and asked in a low voice, "Which one goes with my gray suit?"
Su Qiong glanced at the two ties and felt that there was no difference except for the gradient at the tip. The boss's difficult choice really made her more and more insightful.
Su Qiong didn't know which one would go with it, so she picked one at random. However, she didn't show it on her face. She pretended to examine it carefully and said, "This solid color suits the solid color style of the suit better. The gradient is a bit abrupt."
In fact, I feel there is no difference between the two. Maybe she doesn’t understand fashion.
Mu Yunting brought the two ties to his eyes, glanced left and right, and relaxed his brow. "Okay." He took a long step forward, escaping the pressure of being a CEO. He did this to look in the mirror and tie his tie. He tied it very carefully, but his movements were slow due to his excessive care.
Su Qiong raised her hand to light up the screen of her mobile phone, her eyebrows twitching, "Boss, if we calculate that it takes ten minutes to drive, we will be three minutes overdue when we arrive at the company at seven o'clock. Unless we speed for five minutes, we will be late." The company's working hours are half past eight, but Mu Yunting is the company's president, and Su Qiong is his personal secretary. The two of them have to work at a sad seven o'clock, and they have to deal with plans and affairs of all sizes.
Upon hearing this, Mu Yunting walked silently to the door, stretched out one hand, and leaned his neck forward slightly.
Su Qiong put the phone into Mu Yunting's empty hand, stretched out both hands to the half-tied tie around Mu Yunting's neck, and tied it skillfully in no more than three seconds.
Mu Yunting returned the phone to Su Qiong, strode towards the floor-length mirror, looked at it for a few seconds, and nodded with satisfaction. Then the two of them strode out.
