Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Su Qiong let Mu Yunting make the first cut. He glared and meticulously cut vertically. Since they didn't have a cake knife at home, they found an unopened kitchen knife from the warehouse.

Su Qiong took the kitchen knife and cut the cake into twelve pieces neatly. She was very satisfied with her knife skills. After all, she often ordered a whole cake to eat at home, and she had become very skilled at it over time.

Seeing Mu Yunting's usual expression, she knew that her cakes were cut into equal and even pieces, and she felt relieved.

Despite the epidemic lockdown, Mu Yunting spoke more unexpectedly only when he was watching or talking about the drama, and their meaningless conversations were much more than when they were working in the company.

"Look, the sky is so blue today." Su Qiong looked at the cloudless sky and made small talk, sighing without thinking.

Mu Yunting rarely eats cake. Firstly, he doesn't particularly like cake, and secondly, he doesn't buy it on his own initiative. He hasn't eaten cake in almost half a year. Now, he eats it, and the sweet cream makes him happy. He responds with a "blue sky."

Each of them took a bite of cake and chatted idly. After all, they couldn't go out anywhere and couldn't do anything now.

"Look at these clouds floating so leisurely. I'm so envious." Su Qiong pointed with her spoon at a thick white cloud that had just floated out from behind a tall building. The milky white, plump cloud was particularly conspicuous against the pure blue sky. Perhaps there was a breeze in the distance, which was causing it to drift slowly and leisurely.

The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. Su Qiong leaned on the bench while Mu Yunting sat upright. The two of them ate cake while watching Yun Duo stroll to the back of another tall building.

Mu Yunting remembered her envy and said, "You said you envied its leisure time, so you left because you felt the work was too busy?"

Su Qiong was full and didn't react for a moment: "Who did I say was leisurely?"

Mu Yunting saw Su Qiong's puzzled expression and said, "That white cloud just now."

I just sighed casually, Su Qiong thought. But she still answered the question about leaving.

"Well... that's part of the reason." Su Qiong saw Mu Yunting was about to speak, so she quickly took a breath and finished the rest of her words, "But! But I know I can negotiate with the company to change to a more relaxed workstation, so this is just one of the reasons for leaving."

Mu Yunting pondered this for days, even asking his childhood friend. They speculated on various reasons, but still couldn't figure it out. The biggest possibility—excessive work fatigue—was a possibility Su Qiong had now revealed, but it was clearly not the primary reason.

He dug deeper and continued, "So what's the other reason?" He realized he seemed a bit aggressive, so he added, "If you don't want to say it, then don't say it."

Su Qiong didn't think much of it. Perhaps it was because she had eaten a sweet cake, filled her stomach, had no work, and was relaxing in the breeze, that she felt comfortable speaking. She leaned back in her chair, gazing at the silent Shanghai skyline, and spoke whatever came to her mind.

"Boss, look, Shanghai is so big, but it looks so small from here." Su Qiong was used to calling him boss and hadn't changed her tune yet.

When Shanghai is quiet, it looks even more like towering buildings, endless streets, and electric vehicles and shared bicycles lined up neatly on the roadside.

Mu Yunting grew up in Shanghai. Apart from various business trips out of the city, he had never traveled seriously. All he saw was Shanghai. At this moment, he did not understand what Su Qiong meant.

Su Qiong didn't explain and continued, "You probably don't remember that I majored in tourism management..." Unexpectedly, Mu Yunting raised his eyebrows and interrupted Su Qiong, "I remember. I graduated from S University with a major in logistics management. I have a cheerful personality and work diligently..."

Su Qiong heard a few key words and suddenly realized that this was the template resume she had written back then. She quickly waved her hand and said, "Okay, no need to say more!"

Mu Yunting shut up and signaled her to continue speaking with his eyes.
