Chapter 22
Su Qiong covered the porcelain bowl with one hand, which was covered by Mu Yunting's palm, and the other hand covered Mu Yunting's hand.
The two people twisted their hands and overlapped them, and they could feel each other's body temperature.
Mu Yunting also felt a few drops of water on himself. He didn't realize where the water came from for a moment, but he breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that he had saved the bowl. Suddenly, he remembered that the water on his face came from the sink, and his face twisted.
Su Qiong's cheeks were slightly red, and it was unclear whether it was because of the fright just now or because of this sudden close contact.
"Boss, please loosen your grip."
The touch on his palm brought Mu Yunting back to his senses from the dirty water he had spilled. In a panic, he quickly let go of his hand. "I was too anxious just now. Did the water spill on you? I'm sorry."
Su Qiong also quickly withdrew her hand.
The two of them moved too fast and too vigorously, and the porcelain bowl was not held firmly to begin with, and because they did not hold it firmly, it slipped again.
Su Qiong:!!!
Mu Yunting moved very quickly this time, and reflexively reached out with his other hand to catch it, holding it steadily with both hands.
The kitchen was silent for a moment, and both of them breathed out at the same time.
Mu Yunting asked, "Did it not spill on you?"
Su Qiong wiped her face and didn't care. "It's okay, it's just a few drops of water. I haven't taken a shower yet, don't worry."
Mu Yunting stared at Su Qiong's cheek, which had been brushed by the back of her hand. Under the light, her fair skin had a healthy red hue. He turned back to wash the dishes. After rinsing the bowl again, he suddenly remembered that he had originally wanted to ask Su Qiong if the bowl was clean.
Mu Yunting turned on the faucet, rinsed his hands and the bubbles on the bowl, and carefully raised it: "Is this clean now?"
"Of course not." Su Qiong took a look. How could the bowl of dumplings be so greasy?
Mu Yunting had been scrubbing this bowl for a full five minutes, even the old grease had been scrubbed off, not to mention the smooth and clean porcelain bowl.
Recalling the mess he'd made while washing dishes for the first time, Mu Yunting felt a belated sense of embarrassment. His hands had clearly felt lukewarm water, but his mind kept replaying the sensation of their hands touching each other as they'd salvaged that bowl. He blinked, regaining his composure, and brought the freshly scrubbed basin to his eyes, carefully inspecting its cleanliness.
I put down this bowl, picked up another, and started scrubbing it in circles. I could still hear the words, "Boss, please let go."
Hold the bowl in front of your eyes, check carefully to see if there are any stains, and put it down.
While expanding his own thoughts, Mu Yunting washed the dishes carefully. He was very picky and finished washing the dishes leisurely and stacked them in order.
When he was standing in front of the towel and wiping his hands, Su Qiong just came out after blow-drying her hair.
Mu Yunting heard the sound of slippers dragging the floor, turned around, and saw Su Qiong walking towards him in her pajamas while browsing her phone. He reminded her: "You're done washing, you can go and rest now."
Su Qiong looked up at the kitchen—clean, tidy. "OK!" she turned back, her finger tapping the screen. She was much more familiar with the route from the living room to the sofa than with her side-lying position. Without thinking, her body slammed her onto the couch. Recovering, she didn't bother to move, and continued to play with her phone, clicking away expertly.
Mu Yunting thought Su Qiong would go back to her room, but she was sitting in the living room playing with her phone. He stood for a moment, looking at Su Qiong. He thought that after spending so many days together, he and Su Qiong had gone from colleagues to friends. This afternoon, they had made cake together, had afternoon tea, and chatted, and their relationship had become even closer.
She looked so white and clean under the light.
Mu Yunting's chest felt as bloated as his stomach, as if it were stuffed with cream. He gave up the idea of returning to his study to work and walked towards the sofa.
"Are you playing games?" It was obvious, Su Qiong was holding a mobile phone with the game score jumping on it. But he just wanted to talk to her.
Su Qiong came back to her senses and quickly turned to glance at Mu Yunting. Given how familiar they were now, it felt awkward to cover up the truth. "Uh, yes, a... O-game." Seeing Mu Yunting's puzzled look, and a desire to explore, Su Qiong shifted her hips to the side, changing her position so he could see the phone screen better. "Basically, it's a game where you fall in love with a virtual character, similar to a text game?"
Su Qiong moved his index finger to explain the main gameplay buttons on the screen.
Her nails are beautifully shaped, Mu Yunting thought, forcing himself to look away from his phone.
Su Qiong was showing Mu Yunting the cards of the targets to be conquered in the game, and excitedly pointed to the first one, "This is the latest event card! Look, isn't it exquisite!" and explained the story behind the card.
Mu Yunting agreed, feeling nothing in his heart, but his eyes were drawn to the card directly below him—a handsome man in a suit holding a meeting. He pointed and asked, "Why are there both ancient and modern cards? Aren't they story cards about experiences?"
"Besides the main storyline, there are many event stories, which you can think of as parallel universes. This card is about AI and future technology," Su Qiong explained. This card was a long-standing event, and if Mu Yunting hadn't pointed it out to her, she might have ignored it. Many people are attracted to this CEO gimmick, and Su Qiong, like all subordinates in the workplace, doesn't like these things that are too close to reality. It's really a bit too hallucinatory...
Mu Yunting noticed that Su Qiong's tone when talking about this card was obviously different from that of the black-haired man's card, but his attention was more attracted by "AI intelligence and future technology" and asked, "AI?"
"This is a long story. To put it simply, it's about the conflict between humans and AI for survival after AI replaces most of human work." Su Qiong flipped open a robot gunfight card and briefly explained the plot.
Mu Yunting raised his eyebrows. Although the plot was a bit outrageous, he was indeed curious because the company's key area was here.
Su Qiong was all too familiar with that expression. Clearly, Mu Yunting was intrigued. Remembering the recent, half-running new player invitation event, her thoughts quickened. She calmly said, "If you want to learn more, try the next game. Once you reach level 30, you can draw cards from the permanent card pool. If you do, you'll be able to read the story." She'd thought she wouldn't get any of the limited-time rewards from this event, but she hadn't expected Mu Yunting to offer her such a great opportunity. Getting an invitation was a win.
