Chapter 13 Car Crash

Carrying the dress she had finally decided to buy, which cost 500 yuan, Bao Yu said she felt a little heartache.

After having enjoyed the hot pot he had been longing for, Bao Yu walked contentedly into the nearest chain store, Gold Shop.

The interior was lavishly decorated, with a retro style throughout. The warm lighting made Bao Yu close her eyes to adjust before walking towards the counter.

As the sales assistant's friendly introduction unfolded, Bao Yu became increasingly hesitant. She wanted to buy her grandmother a large gold bracelet, since the older generation often wore gold and silver jewelry.

However, with Bao Yu's meager salary, she could only afford a bracelet, not to mention she'd have to live on air for a month. Feeling guilty, Bao Yu touched her nose and decided to save the money first and buy it later.

Thinking about it, Bao Yu picked up her things and slunk away.

Sigh, I wanted to surprise Grandma, but it looks like I'll have to wait until I've saved enough money to buy her a gift together with Grandpa's.

On the way back, Bao Yu had eaten too much hot pot and planned to walk back to digest. When she was halfway there, a man in his late forties or early fifties riding a bicycle suddenly made a sharp turn after passing Bao Yu by half a bicycle on the sidewalk.

Bao Yu was knocked to the ground. When Bao Yu got up and looked at the uncle, he found that the uncle and his car were also lying on the ground.

The man probably knew he had done something wrong, but didn't want to take responsibility. He lay on the ground clutching his stomach and wouldn't get up.

Bao Yu was actually very angry at the time, but she still went over, after all, the man was old, what if something really happened to him: "Uncle, how are you? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

The middle-aged man kept clutching his stomach, saying, "Ouch, no need, I'm fine, you can go!"

Seeing this, Bao Yu knew that the uncle simply didn't want to take responsibility; he wasn't actually injured or trying to scam her. She understood a lot more: "Are you really alright? Why don't I go with you to the hospital to get checked out?"

"No, no, I really don't need it. You can go now, it's really nothing." It seemed that the uncle wanted to wait until she left before he got up, so Bao Yu picked up the bag containing her clothes and prepared to leave.

Just as Bao Yu was picking up his things, several people passing by saw the uncle lying alone on the road and, out of kindness, went over to help him.

Seeing that the situation was not good to leave, Bao Yu went over again.

"Sir, if you're really alright, I'll be going now?"

"It's alright, it's alright! You can go now!" Seeing how eager the uncle was to get Bao Yu to leave, Bao Yu prepared to go.

At this moment, a female passerby who was helping the uncle said, "Uncle, why don't you ask her to take you to the hospital? Look how much pain you're in. If it really comes down to it, you can get her phone number or something to contact her, so you can call her if anything happens."

Upon hearing this, Bao Yu thought, "Goodness, she didn't directly tell the uncle that if anything happens, he should hold her responsible."

Instantly, Bao Yu became a little angry. As someone who doesn't know the situation, do you think you're the embodiment of justice? The unit of measurement for morality? You don't even know what happened, yet you just assume what you think is true?

Bao Yu was about to turn around and argue with her, but the uncle, who was also involved, quickly said, "No need, no need, I'm really fine, I just need to rest."

Seeing that the uncle didn't change his mind because of the commotion, Bao Yu was too lazy to argue with such a "kind person," and with something on her mind, she left without looking back.
