Chapter 35

Chapter 35

After returning to Shichun Inn, Shen Aheng simply washed up and went to bed.

His mind was in a mess and he couldn't fall asleep. He tossed and turned, thinking about Ashina Yu's cold eyes and the force with which he suddenly waved away the porcelain bottle.

My wrist still hurt slightly where his sleeve had touched it.

Shen Aheng sighed softly.

It seems that he really hates her.

In fact, before coming here, she had been worried, always afraid that the Yaochen Sect's group would treat him harshly again, afraid that no one would take care of the poison in his body, and even more afraid that he would be as pale as paper and sick as before, and fall down at the slightest breeze. But seeing him standing there today, he seemed to be doing well, and she felt relieved.

As long as he is well, that's fine.

Shen Aheng rubbed his sore wrist, leaned on the pillow and slowly fell asleep.

The next day.

Shen Ah Heng was walking back from seeing a patient outside the city, carrying a medicine basket that was mostly empty, and his steps were a little heavy.

I went out early in the morning and was busy all day without even having time to drink a sip of water. Now, under the moonlight, all the fatigue came over me.

She was walking along a quiet street. It was already getting dark and there were few shops with lights on. Only the moonlight above her head could barely illuminate the road.

Suddenly, there was a sound of clothes tearing through the air passing by his head. Shen Ah Heng subconsciously raised his head and saw three black shadows performing Qinggong, stepping on the opposite wall and passing quickly, their movements light and fluttering.

Immediately afterwards, two more people ran over from the opposite eaves and made almost no sound when they landed on the ground.

In the dim moonlight, Shen Ahheng vaguely saw that they all seemed to be holding weapons in their hands and running quickly in one direction.

Shen Ahheng glanced in that direction, and his heart suddenly skipped a beat.

That direction was clearly the Yuelai Inn where Ashina Yu lived.

Without thinking, Shen Ahheng immediately followed with light steps, hiding behind the old locust tree at the entrance of the alley and looking around quietly.

I saw those people gathered behind the wall opposite Yuelai Inn, pointing at the guards at the door. One of them suddenly took out a few objects as thin as cow hair from his arms and threw them hard. The guards fell to the ground without a sound.

Upon seeing this, several people immediately ran towards the entrance of Yuelai Inn, moving so fast that they made almost no sound.

Shen Aheng felt his heart beating violently, his fingers clenched the straps of the medicine box, sweat oozing from his palms. At this moment, his mind was full of Ashina Yu's safety, so he couldn't care about anything else. He hurriedly slipped past along the wall and quietly followed into the yard.

Shen Ah Heng followed him into the yard. Just as he hid behind a pillar, he saw those people hunched over and running across the courtyard, heading straight for the bedroom on the second floor.

That is where Ashina Yu lives.

Her heart tightened and cold sweat broke out instantly. With her limited skills, she couldn't stop them at all.

In a hurry, Shen Ah Heng didn't care whether he would be exposed or not, and shouted upstairs at the top of his voice: "Help, someone is trying to assassinate me!"

As soon as the shout fell, all the lanterns in the yard lit up.

When those people realized that their whereabouts had been exposed, their faces changed drastically, and they didn't bother to go to the second floor anymore. They turned around and rushed towards Shen Aheng, their expressions showing exasperated and viciousness.

Shen Aheng was unarmed. Seeing the coldly shining weapons stabbing towards him, his heart jumped into his throat and he turned to run.

But she could not outrun these martial arts masters with great lightness skills. They were too fast and the cold tip of the blade was about to touch the corner of her clothes.

At this moment, a black shadow rushed out from the second-floor window, so fast that only an afterimage was left. As the black robe fluttered, only a few screams were heard. The group of people who had been ferocious just now all fell to the ground, and the weapons in their hands made crisp sounds.

Shen Aheng was still gasping for breath with fear, and after he stood firm, he turned around and ran into Ashina Yu's gaze.

There was a lingering sense of violence from fighting in those eyes, as well as a trace of worry that hadn't been put away in time. It fell heavily on her, and even the red at the corners of her eyes revealed a hint of unconscious softness.

But within half a second, he looked away, his brows furrowed tightly, and his tone was cold and hard: "Who told you to meddle in other people's business? With your limited ability, you didn't even choose a good time to commit suicide?"

Shen Ah Heng calmed down, his eyes quickly swept over the bloodstains on his black robe, and then glanced at the group of people lying scattered on the ground. He didn't see any wounds, and his heart was finally relieved. His voice was calm: "Oh, I overestimated my own abilities and meddled in other people's business. Goodbye."

After saying that, he turned around and walked out of the yard without any hesitation.

Ashina Yu watched her back as she walked further and further away. His frown suddenly relaxed a little, and the gloom in his eyes faded away, revealing a bit of panic.

The corners of his mouth were tense, but his eyes followed her figure. Like a puppy that was abandoned, his fingertips curled up unconsciously, and he couldn't say "Don't go" in his throat.

Shen Aheng walked out of Yuelai Inn, looked at the dust on the soles of his shoes, and felt choked up.

I saved someone with good intentions, but ended up being labeled as "meddling". I should have kept my mouth shut.

Anyway, Ashina Yu can defeat him alone.

Shen Ah Heng stretched out his foot and kicked the small stones on the roadside, muttering to himself, "He is now a well-known figure in the Yaochen Sect, powerful and influential, and has strong martial arts skills. Why should I worry about him?" From now on, we should go our separate ways to avoid encountering setbacks and annoying people!

The next morning, just after dawn, Shen Aheng was woken up by Aunt Zhang at the entrance of the alley.

Several children in the town had diarrhea, and Uncle Li also had a relapse of his old cold legs. Seven or eight people gathered in the morning waiting to see a doctor.

Shen Aheng set up a small medical stall in front of Shichun Inn, moved a small stool and sat at the door, touching the foreheads of children and applying plasters to the elderly. He was so busy that he didn't even have time to eat in the morning.

When she was giving medicine to a child with a nosebleed, she suddenly felt a slight numbness on the back of her neck. It was not the wind, but the feeling of being stared at, as if someone was looking at her closely, as if a pair of eyes were glued to her.

Shen Ah Heng looked up and saw only the old man selling candied haws passing by with his cart, not even a suspicious figure.

Shen Ah Heng then rubbed his arms, shook his head and laughed at himself, he was so busy that he was dizzy.

But when I lowered my head and continued to work, the presence brought by that gaze was still there, like a puppy hiding in the shadow of a tree, obviously afraid of being discovered, but reluctant to look away.

He was busy until the sun was about to set, and only when the last patient took the medicine bag and thanked him and left did Shen Ah Heng breathe a sigh of relief, his back wet with sweat.

Just as he was packing up his stall and preparing to head back, Xiao Wu from the inn ran out and said enthusiastically, "Mr. Shen, you're finally free! Let me clean up. You should go eat quickly. You haven't eaten all day. The meal is ready!"

Shen Aheng was indeed very tired, so he didn’t refuse anymore, so he handed all the things to him and walked towards the window table where he usually sat.

The moment she handed the thing over, she inexplicably felt a pair of eyes falling on her hand, with a hint of inexplicable resentment, like a ball of warm fire, burning her skin.

Shen Ah Heng was stunned for a moment, looked up, and still didn't see anyone. Plus, he was tired and hungry, so he didn't have the time to pay attention.

The porridge is soft and thin, the fried pancakes are crispy and fragrant, and there is a plate of cold cucumber on the side, which is refreshing and relieves greasiness.

Shen Ah Heng slurped down half a bowl of rice before slowing down. He hurriedly finished his meal and went to his room. He just wanted to fall asleep!

Shen Ahheng walked to the door of the room, pushed it open and saw Xiaowu had already neatly stacked the things from her medical stall in the corner of the room.

Shen Aheng didn't even bother to turn on the light and threw himself on the bed.

Her clothes were still stained with the smell of medicine residue and herbs from the day, but she didn't even have the strength to take them off. Her eyelids felt heavy as if they were hung with lead, and she was about to fall asleep as soon as she touched the pillowcase.

While I was drowsy, I suddenly heard a soft "dong" sound outside the door, as if something was dropped on the ground.

Shen Ah Heng suddenly opened his eyes, and most of his sleepiness disappeared. He asked softly outside the door: "Who is it?"

It was quiet outside and no one responded.

Shen Ah Heng waited for a moment, and couldn't help but murmur in his heart.

Maybe a drunk guest accidentally dropped something on the floor.

In desperation, Shen Ah Heng had to prop himself up and stand up, dragging his heavy feet to the door and pulling it open.

There was no one outside the door, not even a shadow.

"...What are you doing?" Shen Ah Heng frowned and was about to close the door when his toes kicked something hard.

She looked down and saw a dark purple velvet package placed by the threshold. It was embroidered with unknown patterns in silver thread, and there were two small gilded bells hanging on the corners. It looked exquisite and precious.

It feels heavy in my hand. I wonder who put it here quietly.

Shen Ah Heng reached out and picked up the velvet bag. It felt delicate and had a soft silky sheen. It was better than any fabric she had ever seen. She pinched the fabric gently and felt what seemed to be regular blocks inside, which were hard.

Shen Ah Heng was suspicious and took the bag to the window to look at it carefully in the moonlight. Under the texture of the velvet, he could vaguely see the outline of the bag inside.

It turned out to be neatly stacked gold ingots.

Shen Aheng held the velvet bag, his fingers trembling.

With so much gold, it must have been accidentally lost by a drunk guest. If it was really lost, she couldn't wash it off even if she jumped into the Yellow River.

Without delaying any longer, he walked downstairs with the package in his arms, and happened to run into Xiaowu who was passing by with a basin of water.

"Xiao Wu!" Shen Ah Heng hurriedly called the resident and handed over the package: "Look at this, I found it at the door of my room. Maybe a drunk guest dropped it. Please help keep it for now, and ask the guests staying in the hotel to see if anyone has lost anything."

Xiao Wu was a simple and honest person. He knew the value of the package as soon as he saw its condition. He quickly put down the basin and took it, carefully holding it in his arms, nodding repeatedly: "Don't worry, Master Shen! I'll go to the lobby and ask, and I'll make sure to find the owner!"

After stuffing the package into Xiaowu’s hands, Shen Aheng breathed a sigh of relief.

This guy has always been honest. Whenever he sees a customer lose a piece of change, he is always eager to find the owner. He cares more about keeping such a large sum of money than his own.

Shen Ah Heng rubbed his stiff shoulders, yawned, turned around and ran upstairs. After washing up casually, he fell on the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, Shen Aheng was still busy with his medical consultations until dusk before returning. He was so tired that his legs were weak. After barely eating, he returned to his room and had not been lying down for long when he heard a "bang".

When I opened the door, I saw a package exactly the same as the dark purple velvet bag from yesterday lying on the threshold.

"Which drunkard is throwing things away again?" Shen Ah Heng was furious. This time, he didn't even look at it. He walked downstairs with the package and stuffed it into Xiao Wu's hand: "Go and ask for me, who is so idle and bored that he plays a prank on me. If it doesn't stop, I will report it to the police!"

Xiaowu also felt puzzled and could not let his benefactor suffer such injustice. After accepting the package, he agreed immediately and planned to help her monitor it personally.

This continued for several days.

When I went out in the morning, the door was empty. Not long after I came back in the evening, I could hear a "dong" sound, and then the velvet bag appeared. The gold inside became more and more day by day, and even the gilded bell on the velvet was made of gold.

This time, Shen Ah Heng was extremely angry.

How could such a bizarre prank be possible? They were worried that she wouldn't be noticed by the authorities, right?

Shen Ah Heng was so angry that he ate two extra bowls of dinner. He made up his mind: he must catch this "troublemaker" tomorrow.

The next day, after returning from a medical consultation, Shen Aheng finished his meal early. After returning to his room, he did not go to rest. Instead, he moved a small stool, huddled behind the door, held his breath, and waited for the opportunity.

I waited for almost an hour and my legs were so numb that I almost lost all feeling. I was just thinking about taking a nap when I suddenly heard very light footsteps outside the door and the rustling sound of cloth rubbing against the wall.

People are coming!

Shen Aheng glared, suddenly opened the door and rushed out: "You little bastard, I finally caught you--"

As soon as the words came out of his mouth, he suddenly got stuck.

Under the moonlight, Ashina Yu was wearing a neat black shorts and holding the familiar dark purple velvet package in his hand.

Perhaps he was not prepared in advance, for when he saw her suddenly appear, he froze like a stone pillar, the tips of his ears were red as if burned by fire, and the package in his hand almost fell to the ground.

Shen Ah Heng never thought it would be him. He was stunned and it took him a long time to find his voice: "Why...why is it you?"

Seeing the velvet bag in his hand, the anger in my heart turned into confusion: "All this gold... is it you who gave it to me?"

Okay.

Quite rich.

Ashina Yu shrank back like a caught thief, subconsciously hiding the velvet bag in his hand behind his back. His eyes drifted to the wall and he said stubbornly, "I, I was just passing by! I heard the food here is pretty good, so I came to check it out... Who came to see you specifically?"

Shen Aheng's eyes swept over the tip of his ear, which was red and hot. He had already known it in his heart, but he deliberately dragged out the tone of "Oh", then took a half step back and said: "Since you are passing by, then there is nothing else, just go."

Ashina Yu's eyes widened, as if he didn't hear her clearly. He looked a little confused. After two seconds of silence, his face slowly darkened, his mouth was pursed into a tight line, and a hint of anger flashed in his eyes, but he didn't say a word. He clenched the velvet bag in his hand, turned around and walked towards the stairs.

His footsteps were so heavy that he almost stepped on air, and even his back revealed a sense of resentment and grievance.
