Chapter 12 Transitional Chapter

Chapter 12 Transitional Chapter

The weather was a bit muggy, and soon it started to drizzle.

Yu Li had just left the garden and returned to his room when he received a video call from his mother.

When the call connected, his mother glanced at where he was, her eyes filled with confusion.

"Chestnut, are you at your roommate's house right now?"

Yu Li nodded: "Yes."

The mother's expression became somewhat complicated, and she hesitated before asking, "Is your roommate from a very wealthy family?"

She saw the firefly photos that Yu Li had sent her.

In that photo, the grass and flowers were neatly arranged and looked beautiful, and the decorative lights looked very luxurious; it was clearly not the kind of place you'd find in a park.

Not to mention the room where Yu Li is now; although the decorations and furnishings are understated, they still look very exquisite and elegant.

She knew that Yu Li had moved to her roommate's house, but she never expected that her roommate's family was so...so wealthy.

Yu Li was slightly taken aback, then nodded and said, "His family is in business and lives in a villa."

Mom sighed, "Then we owe him a huge favor. If I had known his family was so well-off, I would have stopped you when you said you wanted to move. I'll send you some money; it would be good for you to stay in a hotel for a while."

Yu Li pursed her lips and said, "School is about to start, so I won't be staying here for very long."

"Don't worry, I paid him rent and didn't cause any trouble for his family."

Mom shook her head and said, "Chestnut, Mom isn't blaming you, it's just..."

She paused for a moment, then said, "But our family isn't well-off. How are you going to repay the favor you owe him?"

Yu Li understood what she meant.

His family's circumstances were vastly different from the Yan family's, so his mother worried that the Yan family might completely disapprove of any ways they could repay favors.

Yu Li smiled and comforted her, "Mom, I understand. I will try my best to repay you, no matter what method I use. If others don't like it, that's their business. As long as I can do my best to have a clear conscience, that's enough."

As soon as she finished speaking, Yu Li was taken aback.

He never imagined that he would one day say such a thing.

If it were before, he would definitely have thought the same as his mother.

Mom was still a little worried.

Associating with people from wealthy families creates a significant gap in their daily lives and entertainment standards. She worried that Yu Li might experience a sense of disparity and do something wrong in the process.

But Yu Li on the other end of the phone smiled gently, still the well-behaved child she remembered.

She pursed her lips and said, "Since you know what you're doing, I won't nag you anymore. Take good care of yourself while you're out there."

Yu Li nodded, "Okay, I know."

After hanging up the phone, Yu Li sat at the table, looking at the rain outside the window, and gently dangled her feet under the table.

He was aware of the slight change in his thinking, and this was all thanks to the guidance that Butler He had given him during his time living in the Yan family.

Perhaps it's all because he's a friend of Yan Sui.

Yu Li was very grateful to Butler He and also to Yan Sui.

...

Y University will be starting its semester at the end of August.

Yu Li's work at Yutingxuan has also come to an end.

On the last day of get off work, the manager approached Yu Li and asked him to work as a waiter at a cruise ship banquet the following day. The job would last two days and one night, and he would receive a salary of one thousand yuan.

This cruise ship banquet was organized by the big boss of Yutingxuan for his daughter's engagement, and he wanted to mobilize all the staff of Yutingxuan to go and help.

Yu Li had already resigned and was no longer part of the Yu Ting Xuan staff, but the manager thought that he would need money when school started, so he still planned to let him go.

Yu Li understood the manager's good intentions and readily agreed.

A day later, Yu Li boarded the cruise ship and followed her colleague Xiao Yang to their staff dormitory.

Xiao Yang was very excited about his first time on a cruise ship, chattering away the whole way.

He talked to himself for a while, but didn't hear Yu Li respond. Somewhat puzzled, he turned to ask, "Xiao Yu, what's wrong? Are you seasick?"

Yu Li pointed to her throat and said with difficulty, "I caught a chill last night, and my voice has changed this morning."

The once clear voice became hoarse and pitiful.

Xiao Yang couldn't help but smile and said, "It's nothing, it's nothing. It makes me seem calm."

Yu Li sighed helplessly, took out the throat lozenges she had bought, and ate one.

He glanced at Xiao Yang, then shook the box of throat lozenges and asked, "Do you want some?"

He had been talking the whole way, and he was worried that Xiao Yang's throat would hurt.

Xiao Yang didn't stand on ceremony and chuckled as he took one.

As the horn sounded, the cruise ship slowly began to move across the river.

Yu Li was assigned to work as a waitress in the restaurant, on a day shift, and could finish get off work at 6 p.m. After that, she could go to the deck to move around freely.

The main event of the banquet was in the evening, and since the guests had all gone to the banquet hall, there weren't many people on the deck.

The cruise ship has already sailed onto the sea.

It was dusk, and the western sky slowly turned orange-red. Occasionally, a flock of seabirds would fly by, skimming the surface of the sea to catch the fish that were leaping out.

Yu Li was also on a cruise ship for the first time and seeing such scenery for the first time.

He went up to the deck to enjoy the sea breeze for a while and took some photos. Then, as he turned a corner, he saw two familiar people.

"Mr. Yan, shall I help you back to your room?" Jiang Miao stood beside Yan Shiting, her brows furrowed.

Yan Shiting's face was somewhat pale.

He coughed lightly, his brows furrowed, and said in a deep voice, "I'll go back by myself. You go back to the banquet hall first."

Jiang Miao pursed her lips and looked around anxiously, just in time to meet Yu Li's gaze as she stood there.

He thought for a moment, then his eyes lit up. "Mr. Yan, I'll have someone escort you back to your room."

Yan Shiting frowned, and the next second, he saw Yu Li walking over.
