Chapter 561 Arrest Warrant
Wen Ni lowered her eyes, suppressed her emotions, and tilted her head back to gulp down a large glass of cold water.
Being in enemy territory, she had to stay alert at all times. Any emotions were superfluous and had to be temporarily set aside! Survival was the top priority!
"Sangda? Which train are you and Juelun taking today?" A man's question suddenly came from behind.
“Manager, Juelun and I are on the K31976 train from Yangle to Mandegan,” Wen Ni replied, putting down her chopsticks.
"Isn't that train departing at 8 o'clock? It's already 7:30. Haven't you changed your clothes yet? Have you prepared your things? Have you loaded them onto the train? Do you still have time to eat and chat here?" The manager walked over impatiently, his face dark as he bombarded him with a series of questions. "Stop dawdling. The train won't wait for you once it leaves."
"us……"
Qin Yuan was about to reply when Wen Ni pressed down on his hand, which was resting on the table.
Wen Ni stood up and picked up her plate.
"Yes, manager, we'll get started right away."
"Hurry up and go! Don't delay things." The manager turned his face away, glaring at Qin Yuan who was still sitting in his seat. "Jue Lun, all you do is eat! Can't you learn from Sanda and have some common sense?! With your attitude, when will you ever find a wife?"
"...Okay, okay, Manager Bosheng. I understand, I'll go right away!" Qin Yuan rolled her eyes inwardly, but didn't forget to quickly grab a steamed bun, nodding and bowing as she chased after Wen Ni!
Manager Bosheng stood there with his hands on his hips, watching their departing figures, shaking his head wearily.
Deputy Manager Wu Ang swung his keychain and swaggered over, asking, "What are you looking at? Why the long face?"
"Wu Ang, these two new kids you signed are too young. Can they be trusted?"
"The job isn't difficult at all, it's so simple, how could they not handle it? Don't worry. Besides, although they're young, hiring them will cost the company less." The assistant manager squinted. "Moreover, there are wars happening all over the world right now, not to mention young people, even middle-aged people have been recruited into the military. Where are we going to find manpower? We're lucky to have two quick and efficient people! I don't want to hire any more fifty- or sixty-year-old men and women, they're disgusting to look at. This is much better, full of youthful energy!"
"Hmph, I think you're just after Sanda because she's pretty!" Manager Bosheng was too lazy to call him out on it, and casually asked, "Speaking of the war, do you know where we are now?"
"It's mainly in the border area of Tongguang, which is a bit far from Yangle and Mandegan. But if you ask me, with those cowards in China, they probably won't be able to get in."
"It would be best if they couldn't get through. Alright, let's get our food quickly." Manager Bosheng nodded and said, "You're also going to Mandegan to visit your siblings and children on this train later, right?"
“Yes.” The deputy manager replied, “I’ll go home for a day and then come back on the return trip. Don’t worry, I’ll keep an eye on those two young men and make sure they don’t cause any trouble.”
"That's all we can do."
After saying that, the two put their arms around each other's shoulders, chatted and laughed, and went to get their food.
The hands of time turn
As the departure bell rang, the train pulled out of the station with its whistle.
The long, drawn-out sound traveled across the wilderness, brushed against the spring breeze, and swept over the farmland—what a beautiful illusion of a peaceful and tranquil world…
"Kulon, kulon, kulon"
The wheels slowly accelerated along the tracks, and the friction and collision sounds at the junction of the carriages were familiar and nostalgic.
Under the sunlight, the car was heading towards a vast expanse of fiery clouds. A layer of smoke shrouded the clouds, resembling swirling steam or billowing gunpowder!
The dining car in the middle of the train was filled with steam.
"Have all the dinners been heated up yet?" Deputy Manager Wu Ang lifted the curtain and walked into the kitchen.
A square area with various hot food utensils on the counter; the remaining space can only accommodate two or three people working back and forth at most.
When Deputy Manager Wu Ang entered, the room suddenly felt a bit crowded.
Wen Ni and Qin Yuan, dressed in white chef's uniforms, had just put the last box of heated food into the insulated box.
"Everything is ready, Deputy Manager."
“That’s good. Well, Juelun, you stay here tonight and heat up the food for the guests who come to the dining car.” The assistant manager gave the order, then turned to Wen Ni and said, “Sangda, you come with me to push the refrigerated cart and sell the food in the carriage.”
"Huh? But I've always been the one to go," Qin Yuan muttered, somewhat puzzled.
“This isn’t a job that’s always assigned; it doesn’t matter who does it.” The assistant manager glanced at him. “I’ve noticed you’re a bit rebellious. You made the manager angry this morning at the restaurant. I’m warning you, watch your mouth! If you get fired one day, I can’t protect you.”
“Brother Jue Lun will be more careful in the future, please don’t be angry with him.”
Wen Ni spoke up to defend Qin Yuan
"Deputy Manager, the insulated truck is all loaded. Shall we go?"
"Yes, Sanda is the most sensible one!"
Wu Ang rolled his eyes, shook his head, and went out first.
Qin Yuan frowned and looked at Wen Ni, "Be careful!"
"rest assured."
Wen Ni knew what was going on.
She held onto the trolley and followed behind Deputy Manager Wu Ang toward the passenger carriage.
"Sangda, I haven't asked you yet, how is your family situation? How many siblings do you have?" In the middle of selling boxed lunches, Wu Ang went around behind Wen Ni, following her very closely, occasionally bumping into her from behind. "As your supervisor, I'd like to inquire more about your family situation and see if I can apply for some additional welfare policies for you!"
"I live alone."
Wen Ni glanced back, then pretended to look for her lunchbox to distance herself from Wu Ang.
She and Qin Yuan obtained new identities and went down the mountain. When they saw a job posting for railway canteen outsourcing staff, they applied directly. This kind of outsourcing work was not formal; all that was needed was a photocopy of their identity information.
Moreover, as train attendants, they travel to and from different cities every day. Li Shiyan couldn't catch them even if he wanted to, let alone imagine that they would apply for a job distributing boxed meals for the railway!
The person in charge of interviewing Wen Ni at the time was Deputy Manager Wu Ang.
Wu Ang's eyes are practically glued to her.
How could she not have noticed?
"You live alone?" Wu Ang's eyes lit up, and he leaned closer. "Sangda, you're so young, it must be tough for you. It must be exhausting. Have you ever thought about finding a boyfriend to help you share the burden?"
"Here, a box of shredded pork with garlic sauce over rice! And another shredded pork with green peppers over rice!" came the passengers' calls from the aisle ahead.
"Here I am!"
Wen Ni responded enthusiastically, seemingly ignoring what Wu Ang was saying. She snapped the towel draped over her shoulder, and the end of the towel flicked across Wu Ang's right cheek.
He was completely dumbfounded by the blow!
Then look at Wen Ni, she's acting like nothing happened, already pushing the food cart to the passengers!
"What you'd like: one box of shredded pork with garlic sauce and one box of shredded pork with green peppers."
"Okay, wait a moment while I get the money."
The male passenger's companion took the boxed meal.
He himself was looking down and rummaging through the money pouch in his briefcase.
Wen Ni lowered her eyes and saw that the passenger's briefcase contained several arrest warrants.
The faces printed on the paper were clearly hers and Qin Yuan's!
