Chapter 248 Catching a Thief
In response to their inquiries.
Ignoring the curious gazes of the crowd, Wen Ni raised her foot and stepped on the thief's armpit!
Before anyone could stop her, she bent down and snatched a pink wallet directly from the man's arms!
The thief couldn't even cover it up, and as he watched his wallet being snatched away, panic appeared in his eyes!
The onlookers looked at each other in bewilderment.
The girl who had been yelling about her wallet being stolen also ran over, followed by several other men and women!
"My wallet! This is my wallet!"
"What's in the wallet?" Wen Ni didn't rush to return it to her, but carefully checked it.
"There's an X21 curved screen phone, a stack of 1000 yuan bills, three bank cards, a Holiland recharge card, and my ID card and medical insurance card! My name is Gao Yang, and this really is my wallet!" The girl stared at the wallet, her eyes pleading and sincere.
After a quick check to confirm that there were no problems, Wen Ni handed the wallet back.
"Thank you, beautiful lady! Thank you, beautiful lady!"
Gao Yang excitedly accepted the wallet and thanked him repeatedly!
The patrol team and others then realized that the person lying on the ground was a thief, and the beautiful, tall girl was a hero!
"The young lady has excellent observation skills and fighting ability!" The armed police officer gave Winnie a thumbs up, praising her highly, but didn't forget to add, "I noticed that you used a combat technique that's only found in combat boxing! Did you learn that on your own, or have you received professional training?"
“I learned it myself,” Wen Ni replied casually.
"That's really standard! It's almost the same routine our old sergeant used back in the army!" the armed police officer said with a smile.
His colleague next to him had already bent down and handcuffed the thief!
Wen Ni's expression was indifferent. She simply smiled and nodded at them, then turned and returned to the train waiting area without saying anything more.
Her luggage was still there; it wasn't lost.
"Hey beautiful, you're going to the North City too? What a coincidence, we are too!" The voice behind us belonged to Gao Yang, the girl who had just lost her wallet. "We're in carriage 5, which carriage are you in?"
“6.” Wen Ni sat back down in her chair.
"What a coincidence! Our carriages are next to each other!" Gao Yang smiled broadly and continued to chat with Wen Ni enthusiastically. "If you don't mind, you can keep us company. After all, the train to Beicheng takes ten hours, and you'll be bored traveling alone!"
“It’s okay, I’m used to being alone,” Wen Ni replied.
Gao Yang probably thought Wen Ni was just being polite, so she added, "Beautiful lady, we're here for team building, we're not bad people! I'm really grateful for your help earlier, so to express my thanks, I'd like to do something to help you! How about we help you with your luggage? We have some guys here, they're all very strong!"
"Really, you don't need to."
Wen Ni's eyes were indifferent. She suddenly got up, dragged her luggage, and walked towards the ticket gate.
Gao Yang pursed his lips, somewhat disappointed. "This is the first time I've met such a cold girl..."
"Alright, Gao Yang, can't you see they're ignoring you? Don't keep trying to win them over. Let's go." The girl in the group scoffed.
Gao Yang pouted, not happy. "Zizi, she's my benefactor, you can't say that."
"Okay, okay, I won't say anything more~" Zizi rolled her eyes. "Let's go, the train has arrived at the station, we should go in too!"
Passengers lined up in an orderly fashion to enter the station.
Wen Ni found carriage number 6, a window seat.
Before she could even lift her suitcase, another man's hand reached out and pressed down on the handle. "Let me help you put it up! It's too heavy!"
She looked up along the arm and met a bright, youthful face.
He's a male member of Gao Yang's team.
“No need, I can manage on my own,” Wen Ni refused again.
Before the boy could exchange any more pleasantries, she lifted the suitcase with one arm and supported the bottom with the other, pushing it onto the luggage rack!
Her movements were fluid; the suitcase seemed weightless in her hands, moving with remarkable ease!
The boys were dumbfounded. After all, the suitcase was quite heavy even for a man like him! Let alone for a delicate girl like her?
After putting down her luggage, Wen Ni simply nodded to him before sitting back down and putting on her headphones.
The boy stood in the aisle, rubbing his hands awkwardly. He turned around and saw Gao Yang waving at him.
"I just asked the train conductor, and he said that there are hardly any seats left in carriage 6. Why don't we all go and sit in carriage 6?"
“We have no objection,” the boys said.
"Why do we have to go to carriage number 6?" Zizi frowned, clearly unhappy. "Gao Yang, aren't you being a bit too much of a 'little sun' in Qingcheng? Why are you always hanging around her? Be careful she doesn't try to extort a huge sum of money from you!"
“Zizi, without her, I wouldn’t even be able to get on this bus today! And don’t you think she’s amazing? My uncle always tells me that having more friends in life opens up more paths for you. I want to get to know her and make friends with her!”
"Isn't having us as your friends enough!?"
"Of course you are my friends and business partners, especially Zizi, you are my best friend, no one can compare to you, okay?" Gao Yang put his arm around Zizi's shoulder.
Zizi's mood improved a bit. "That's more like it!"
The train is traveling at a constant speed.
After replying to Boss Xiao's business-related information, Wen Ni lay down on the table and closed her eyes for a short rest. A moment later, she heard footsteps in the aisle, and someone sat down in the slightly recessed seat next to her.
She cautiously raised her head, and her eyes met Gao Yang's.
The group of them, acting suspiciously, sat in a circle around her seat!
What are you doing?
"I...I have some snacks here, do you want some?" Gao Yang smiled a little awkwardly.
"I don't eat food from strangers."
"Gao Yang meant well, how can you talk like that..." Zi Zi was about to speak out in anger when Gao Yang pressed her back down.
"You helped me find my wallet, and we're on the same bus again—it's all fate! Let's get to know each other, become friends, and then we won't be strangers anymore!"
“I don’t think it’s necessary,” Wen Ni said coldly.
After all, being harassed by a group of people for no reason, who are even clamoring to be her friends, would make anyone wary!
"You don't really think we're bad guys, do you?" Gao Yang belatedly realized what was going on and quickly explained, "We're not human traffickers!
