Chapter 603 Whipping
"Yes, it's her. I don't know who she is, but the army commander treated her like this! He not only carried her back himself, but also put her in his own tent, taking care of her every night and keeping her company every day!"
"I hadn't heard that the army commander had a girlfriend or was married before. And who is this female soldier? She doesn't seem to be from our army group."
"I don't know, I don't know, stop talking, or I'll get caught by the discipline guards and punished again!"
"Let's go, let's go!"
They whispered amongst themselves, not daring to linger, their hearts filled with countless curiosity and doubt.
Wen Ni was also filled with countless questions and doubts!
She looked around, then suddenly changed direction and walked towards the largest tent. Clearly, that should be where Lu Jinye and the others were discussing matters, and it was heavily guarded around!
Just as she reached the camp, Wen Ni was drawn to a pillar standing a few dozen meters away directly in front of the camp.
"Wait a minute!"
The young nurse was still relentlessly pursuing Wen Ni.
The nurse was puzzled. Wasn't this female soldier seriously injured? How come she had run here on her own in the blink of an eye?
The doctor also said that the female soldier might develop a limp... But now it seems that's basically impossible, her legs are more agile than anyone else's!
Wen Ni ignored the nurse's advice.
She stared fixedly at the spot in front of the tent!
The pillar was over two meters tall and rested on a high platform. It took two or three steps to get close to it, and a man was tied to the pillar at that moment.
Although the man's clothes were tattered and ragged, the jarring yellowish-brown color couldn't be concealed—it was a Burmese military uniform. Through the tears in the uniform, one could see gaping wounds, stained with dark red blood!
He was like a boneless man, hanging there limply and powerless, his head drooping low!
The angle and the bloodstains obscured his face, making it difficult for Wen Ni to see clearly. However, even so, Wen Ni still recognized him and his identity.
“Spotted structure…”
Damn it, the spotted structure.
Wen Ni, who had originally planned to go to the main council tent, suddenly changed direction and headed straight for the high platform where the pillar was located!
The soldiers standing on both sides of the platform saw from afar a female soldier wearing a hospital gown and a military coat coming aggressively, followed by a chattering female nurse.
The entire army group has heard that their aloof army commander brought back a woman from the battlefield, and it seems that this is probably the woman!
They couldn't figure out the woman's identity or her relationship with their army commander, but they knew they should treat her with propriety and not be rash.
The two soldiers leading the group exchanged glances, trying to communicate. Finally, the slightly younger one reluctantly stepped forward, blocking Wen Ni's path and giving her a military salute.
"Comrade, martial law is in effect here. No one is allowed to approach without orders."
"Hello, comrade."
Wen Ni stopped and returned the salute.
The gaze passed the soldier and landed on the spotted figure tied to the pillar.
Seemingly because he heard Wen Ni's voice, the barely alive Ban Gou slowly raised his head, his bloodshot eyes swollen high, but that didn't stop him from glaring fiercely at Wen Ni!
"Wen Ni... Heh... Wen Ni... Hehe!"
Ban Gou forced her name out of his throat, his words broken and accompanied by a cold, ambiguous laugh. He gritted his teeth, wishing he could crush each word into pieces, drawing blood and flesh to vent his anger!
The warlord who was swaggering on the battlefield just a few days ago is now a miserable prisoner, unable to live or die! Everyone says it's the cruel twist of fate, but that's not true; it's all a matter of personal choice.
Wen Ni stood below the high platform, looking at Ban Gou, her heart filled with a complex mix of emotions!
Seeing that Wen Ni had no intention of taking a step forward, the two soldiers who were blocking her way also took a step back, but their eyes never left her, for fear that she would suddenly do something unexpected.
"I never imagined that you, wounded like that, riddled with holes and bleeding profusely, would still survive?" Ban Gou sneered, then shook his head mockingly. "What? Seeing me tortured like this, you must feel great! Very pleased, right? Hmph... If it weren't for Lu Jinye, if it weren't for Lu Jinye suddenly appearing with his troops and ruining my plans, how could you still be standing here watching me make a fool of myself!? Damn Lu Jinye... Damn it..."
"Who can you blame for your current predicament?" Wen Ni said coldly, her voice indifferent. "Ban Gou, I told you, you would eventually fall into the hands of the Chinese, and your dog's life would end at their hands! Because this is retribution. When your hands were stained with the blood of so many innocent Chinese, you should have known this day would come!"
"Retribution?" Ban Gou scoffed. "Pah!"
Wen Ni looked at him, at his filthy appearance.
There was a time when she herself had fallen into such a predicament!
What goes around comes around; no one escapes the wrath of Heaven.
"Back in Burma, I was tied to a pillar by your people in the same way. But my situation was much worse than yours. What did the Burmese army do to me? They lined up and whipped me and Qin Yuan with water-soaked whips!"
Those whip marks are still firmly imprinted on her skin to this day.
The soldiers on both sides trembled as they listened, their astonished gazes sweeping up and down at Wen Ni.
"You're miserable? You deserve it, who told you to run away?" Blood seeped from the corner of Ban Gou's mouth, his eyes glaring, his mockery unrestrained. "You deserve it, you deserve it!"
"I deserve it?"
Wen Ni slowly shook her head, her eyebrows raised, and her eyes narrowed, revealing a gloomy and cold light.
"Then I'd like to ask you a good question: those Chinese who went to work in the Burmese underground fighting arena but were deceived and captured by you, those Chinese who were tortured to death! What did they do wrong? Did they deserve it? Did they deserve to be captured by you, deserve to be killed by you, deserve to be played with like puppets by you!?"
"Chinese people are lowly bastards. It's a mistake for you to be alive and breathing. You were born to be our slaves, animal feed! You are lowly, disgusting, and deserve to die! In my eyes, you bunch of lowly Chinese are not even as good as animals, not even worth the life of a dog!"
Ban Gou became increasingly ruthless and arrogant as he spoke, laughing loudly, his body, tightly bound to the pillar, trembling violently with his laughter!
His words ignited anger in the eyes of the surrounding soldiers, who clenched their fists. But military orders were absolute; no matter how much they hated or resented him, they had to suppress their rising anger and remain motionless.
Wen Ni could no longer tolerate it!
She suddenly lunged to the side and rushed up three steps. Before the soldiers could stop her, she pulled out the blood-stained whip that she had been eyeing and that was propped up to the side!
With a flick of his wrist, he slapped Ban Gou across the cheek and chest with a loud "smack"!
The force applied was so great that it tore off flesh and blood, leaving the area covered in blood.
Ban Gou let out a loud cry of pain!
Screams and roars pierced the sky.
The soldiers walking back and forth stopped in their tracks!
Their gazes were fixed on the high platform!
