Chapter 225 Summer Flowers Covering the Mountains in My Memory
Look and look
Wen Ni couldn't help but reach out and carefully test the temperature of his forehead.
Fortunately, although he got caught in the rain yesterday, he did not catch a cold or fever.
His cheeks and palms felt icy cold to the touch, and it got even colder in the latter half of the night. He probably couldn't stand being so cold!
I had a struggle with myself.
Wen Ni finally let go of her annoying affectation.
She unfolded the quilt and covered most of it around Lu Jinye. Then she moved closer to him, so that she could transfer more of her warmth to him!
They were no more than a few centimeters apart.
When she looked up again, she saw his handsome face so close to hers, his sword-like eyebrows gradually relaxing as if he had calmed down. Only then did she feel relieved and close her eyes to continue sleeping.
Just as her breathing gradually calmed down, the man lying next to her slowly opened his eyes and stared unblinkingly at her peaceful sleeping face!
His eyes held a gentle tenderness, like a pool of spring water.
After a long while, I slowly closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep with her...
The next morning, at the crack of dawn...
Wen Ni was sleeping soundly, and in her half-asleep state, she heard the sound of vegetables being chopped coming from the kitchen.
Is it the old lady cooking?
Wait a minute, the old lady is over eighty years old, how could she possibly let her cook?!
Almost instantly, Wen Ni woke up with a start, her eyes snapping open as she tried to sit up abruptly!
But at the same time, she was horrified to discover that she had somehow ended up in Lu Jinye's arms!
The top of its head was still pressed against his chin, and the drool it drooled while sleeping even dampened the collar of his red sweater a little!
Could it be that they slept like that all night?
No wonder she found it unexpectedly warm last night!
No, that's not right.
Given her usual alertness, how could she not know when or how she was pulled into someone's arms?! How could she be sleeping so soundly!
Could someone have drugged her?
She was completely baffled when she looked up and saw Lu Jinye's eyelashes suddenly tremble, as if he was about to wake up!
There was no time to think further; Wen Ni just wanted to get away from this place of trouble before Lu Jinye woke up.
Almost as if fleeing, she crawled out of bed, her clothes disheveled and hair messy, tiptoed into her shoes, and headed straight for the kitchen in the outer room!
"Oh, little girl, you're awake? Did you sleep well?"
"I slept very well! Grandma, put down what you're holding, I'll do these things, you should rest!"
"Oh, no need, no need, I can still cook these meals. Go back to your room and get some more sleep! Oh dear, did I wake you up because I was chopping vegetables too loudly? I'm so sorry, I'm getting old, I wake up earlier and earlier."
"No, Grandma." Wen Ni pushed the old lady back to the main house. "You're getting old, I can handle these things. Besides, I can't just stay here for free. I'd feel better if I cooked some meals for you!"
"Oh dear... you little rascal."
Their voices were somewhat noisy.
Lu Jinye, who was in the inner room, suddenly turned over. When he opened his eyes again, his eyes were clear and bright, not at all like someone who had just woken up!
In fact, he barely slept all night.
He rubbed his aching temples and slowly sat up and got out of bed.
"You can leave them all there; I'll take care of these!"
"I'll leave it to you?"
Wen Ni and the old lady turned their heads in unison to look at Lu Jinye, who was standing at the door, looking slightly listless.
He's a pampered young master from the capital who never lifts a finger. Whether he's at the Lu residence or out and about, he's always waited on hand and foot. How could he possibly know how to cook these everyday meals?
Wen Ni harbored doubts.
But when Lu Jinye actually cooked two dishes and served them in front of them, she immediately abandoned her 'prejudice'!
Both the color and the taste were more authentic than expected.
"I never expected you could cook!"
“My parents are away from home most of the year, and sometimes the food the nanny cooks doesn’t suit my younger brother’s taste, so I’ll learn to cook for him myself. Later, when I was working away from home, I often had to stay away for several months at a time, so I would occasionally learn some recipes and cook whatever I wanted to eat, which was more convenient!”
As Lu Jinye spoke, he picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks and placed it on Wen Ni's and the old lady's plates respectively. "Try it, how does it taste?"
Wen Ni and her grandmother both took a bite and couldn't help but give a thumbs up, "Delicious, really delicious!"
"Then eat more." Lu Jinye's eyes squinted upwards.
Wen Ni ate her meal in silence.
The old lady put down her chopsticks and stared intently at Lu Jinye's face. "Young man, you didn't sleep well last night, did you? Your dark circles are very obvious!"
"Hmm, someone's a restless sleeper," Lu Jinye nodded casually.
Wen Ni would throw a series of punches in her sleep, and he had no choice but to pull her into his arms, which finally calmed her down!
"Who's a restless sleeper? Didn't you sleep on the chair? Does my restless sleep bother you?" Wen Ni snapped, refusing to admit that she had asked him to sleep in her bed last night.
"Yes, yes, it didn't bother you." Lu Jinye raised an eyebrow, his eyes filled with affection.
The old lady sat to one side, watching them with a smile, feeling very gratified. "It's been a long time since this place has been so lively and warm. Seeing you all is like seeing my children..."
A faint sadness permeated his tone.
Wen Ni's eyes dimmed slightly. She didn't reply, but instead picked up a lot of vegetables and meat and put them into the old lady's bowl!
The rain outside the window continued for another whole day.
The rain gradually stopped as afternoon approached evening, and the gloomy sky finally began to clear.
Are you going out?
"Well, since the weather is nice, I'll go take another look at Mr. Lu's old house!" Wen Ni changed into her clothes, which had already dried.
“I’ll go with you,” Lu Jinye said.
“Alright,” Wen Ni said without refusing.
She walked in front, with Lu Jinye's tall and slender figure following behind like a shadow.
It was impossible to enter the interior of the old house; the iron gate was deformed, and looking through the windows, there were no remaining items inside.
"Am I going to make a wasted trip?" Wen Ni asked, somewhat disappointed.
Looking at her profile, Lu Jinye suddenly remembered something and said in a deep voice, "I remember that Grandpa once told me about the days when he and Grandma lived in the old house. They often drank water and chatted at the stone table in the yard, tied a hammock between two trees to sunbathe, and at night, they would sit on the roof and look at the summer flowers all over the mountains."
My gaze swept over the cracked stone table and the withered sapling.
Finally, it landed on the high eaves overhead...
"I'll climb up and take a look!" Wen Ni immediately put her plan into action.
"I'll go find you a ladder." Lu Jinye silently went to find the tools.
