Chapter 73: In her future plans, there was no place for him.
When Jin Changyu returned to the room, a soft wall lamp was on in the bedroom, and the woman on the bed was already asleep.
In the dim light, Jin Changyu's gaze fell on Sang Qian. She was fast asleep, and the blanket covering her upper body was pulled back, revealing a fair arm.
Jin Changyu walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, gently covering her with the blanket. When his gaze fell on her face, the words Sang Jingshan had said flashed through his mind.
My heart feels sour and heavy, and I feel uncomfortable.
He solemnly promised Sang Jingshan that he would protect their little family, take care of her and love her for the rest of his life, and strive to be a qualified and satisfactory husband.
Looking at her quietly at this moment, Jin Changyu felt a deep sense of guilt and self-reproach.
Many details of his life that he had previously overlooked flashed through his mind.
She never let him know about the bullying she suffered at her parents' home, and always presented a positive and optimistic attitude to him.
He was busy with work every day and spent very little time at home, but she never complained.
As long as he's home, she's always happy and will take the initiative to talk to him, sharing many little things about life.
She seemed to really want to celebrate and spend every holiday with him...
So, she actually wanted to work hard with him to build their little home. During those two years, she tried her best to make their home more lively and full of laughter.
Even though he was rigid and boring and couldn't please her, she still wanted to live a good life with him and build a happy little family together.
His long-term neglect extinguished her enthusiasm, gradually leading her to disappointment and ultimately give up on him.
Jin Changyu gazed at her silently, his eyes deep.
After a long while, he raised his hand to stroke her cheek, but stopped just before he touched her.
Afraid of waking people, he quietly withdrew his hand and then slowly got up.
Standing in the quiet bedroom, he slowly looked around the room.
After the divorce, she forbade him from stepping into this room. Last time, when he carried her back in the middle of the night, Jin Changyu didn't have time to take a closer look at this space that once belonged to the two of them alone.
The bedroom was furnished much the same as before, except that there were no traces of his presence. The dressing table used to be filled with her skincare products and jewelry, but now it was piled with books.
Jin Changyu went over and took a look. The two books on top were, in a way, a parenting encyclopedia she had been reading a few days ago, and the other was—
How Single Mothers Can Ensure Their Children Have a Happy Childhood
When his gaze fell on that line of text, Jin Changyu felt as if something had stabbed his heart.
He picked up the book with a stiff hand and found that there were several places where the corners were folded and labels were attached.
He casually flipped to one of the bookmarked pages and saw the title was—
How can a single mother make up for the lack of paternal love in her child?
Upon seeing this title, Jin Changyu felt another blow to his heart.
He glanced at the contents below, his breathing became heavier, and then he closed the book and put it back in its place. When he put it down, he saw a dictionary next to the book, and under the dictionary was a notebook with something written on it.
Jin Changyu casually picked up the dictionary and saw a table carefully drawn on the notebook underneath, with the table divided into two columns.
The first line of the left column reads "Zai Zai" (崽崽), while the first line of the right column reads "Nan Nan" (囡囡).
Below the name "Zai Zai" are the names: Jiang Yan, Jiang Ce, and Jiang Su.
Below the name written on the page are: Jiang Xiaoxiao, Jiang Qing, Jiang Yihuan...
There were also a few that were written and then crossed out.
She's... naming her baby.
The child's surname isn't Jin, nor Sang, but... Jiang?
Jin Changyu suddenly remembered that his mother-in-law's surname was Jiang.
Therefore, she didn't want the child to take his surname, nor did she want it to be surnamed Sang; instead, she wanted it to take her mother-in-law's surname.
Jin Changyu looked at the sleeping woman in the stillness, and a pang of sadness welled up in his heart.
It turns out that during the time she ignored him and went back to her bedroom alone, she was quietly planning her and her baby's future.
She is trying her best to build a loving little home for her baby, but unfortunately, there is no father in this home.
There is no place for him in her future plans.

Sang Qian slept until dawn, yawning as she sat up and got out of bed, only then remembering that Jin Changyu had come to her room to sleep the night before.
Looking around, I saw no one in the room.
Could it be that he really played chess with his second uncle all night?
Sang Qian got up, washed up, changed her clothes, and had just come out of the bathroom when the bedroom door was pushed open.
The man walked in. "Are you up?"
Sang Qian noticed the weariness in his eyes and brows, a symptom of not having slept well.
"Did you and your second uncle really play chess all night?" she asked curiously.
"..."
Jin Changyu: "Do I look like someone who's that immature?"
"ah?"
Sang Qian didn't understand what he meant.
“My second uncle is our elder. If I make him stay up all night when he comes to visit, how impolite would I be?”
Sang Qian's lips twitched. "Oh, then... you're quite polite."
Jin Changyu looked at her and said seriously, "This is the self-awareness that a son-in-law should have."
Sang Qian, "..."
Is he getting too into character?
Jin Changyu glanced at her and said, "Are you all washed up? Let's go downstairs then, Uncle is waiting for us to have breakfast."
"immediately."
Sang Qian turned around and went to the bedside table to get her phone.
"Oh, by the way, there's an art exhibition at the cultural center this afternoon. I have two invitations here. Would you like to go with your second uncle to the exhibition?"
Sang Qian turned around and saw the two art exhibition invitations he handed her. Her eyes lit up instantly. "Great!"
She was wondering where to take her second uncle today.
He would definitely be interested in going to the art exhibition.
She took the invitation, looked up at him, and said, "Thanks."
Looking at her smiling face with her eyes crinkled, Jin Changyu couldn't take his eyes off her.
It had been so long since she had smiled at him like that.
Before he could get his fill of looking, the person in front of him impatiently walked out, saying, "I'm going to tell my second uncle right now."
Jin Changyu followed her downstairs. Seeing that she was walking a little fast, he gently reminded her, "Slow down, watch out for the stairs."
*
Sang Jingshan was indeed interested in the art exhibition, so the uncle and nephew went out to see it together that afternoon.
The art exhibition ended at 5:30. The two walked out of the exhibition hall. Sang Qian did not plan to go home for dinner. She wanted to eat out with Sang Jingshan and his nephew. Just as she was about to ask Sang Jingshan what dishes he wanted to eat, she looked up and saw Jin Changyu walking towards them.
What are you doing here?
She looked at him in surprise.
Jin Changyu walked up to the two of them and said, "I'll come pick you up for dinner after I finish my work."
Sang Qian, "?"
Did she say she'd eat with him tonight?
"I booked a private room at the restaurant next door."
He didn't give Sang Qian a chance to refuse, but looked at Sang Jingshan and said, "It's a Chinese restaurant, is that alright, Uncle?"
Sang Jingshan: "I'm fine."
"Okay." Jin Changyu then looked at Sang Qian. "Let's go, wife."
Since her second uncle had no objections, Sang Qian naturally couldn't say anything, so the three of them went to the restaurant together.
