Chapter 11 They're all divorced, is it really necessary for him to come here?

Sang Qian rushed out of the courtyard and saw two more cars in the yard, with several people standing next to them.

Her steps froze for a moment, and she looked at Jin Changyu, who had suddenly appeared there, with surprise and confusion.

My brain is a bit malfunctioning.

Hearing the noise, Jin Changyu turned to look at her and saw her standing there in a daze, so he walked over.

Just as he was about to speak to her, he saw Sang Jingshan walk out from behind her, and Jin Changyu quickly nodded politely in greeting.

"Second Uncle, it's been a long time. How have you been?"

He subtly moved closer to Sang Qian as he spoke.

"fine."

Sang Jingshan smiled and exchanged a few pleasantries with him, but suddenly felt something was off, so he looked at Sang Qian with a puzzled expression, "Girl, didn't you say on the phone the day before yesterday that you were busy with work in Changyu and couldn't find time to come back?"

"..."

Sang Qian was speechless for a moment when asked the question.

Just as she was about to make an excuse, Jin Changyu spoke first, "I really couldn't confirm the itinerary the day before yesterday. Qianqian was afraid that I wouldn't be able to make it, so she didn't tell you the truth."

"Then why didn't you come back with Qian'er, but instead came with your father-in-law and the others?"

Jin Changyu glanced at Sang Qian subconsciously and explained, "I only bumped into them by chance when I got off the highway; we didn't go back together."

"Yes, Second Uncle, we met Brother-in-law on the road."

Xu Manrong looked at Jin Changyu with what she thought was a sweet smile and walked towards the three of them.

For so many years, following Sang Yulong's address, she also called Sang Jingshan "Second Uncle".

"Sister, Uncle asked you to come back with us but you didn't want to. I thought you were coming back with your husband. I didn't expect you to come back by yourself first?"

At first glance, this question seems like a casual remark, but upon closer examination, it subtly implies that Sang Qian's willfulness in not returning with her parents or husband is due to her own immaturity and stubbornness.

Sang Qian was too lazy to listen to her rambling on; all she wanted to do was figure out why Jin Changyu had come here.

"Second Uncle, he's thirsty. I'll take him inside to get some water."

After she finished speaking, she grabbed Jin Changyu's sleeve and headed towards the main house. The tall man let her lead him and obediently followed behind her.

Sang Qian pulled him all the way to the inner hall before letting go of him, then turned around and asked:

Why are you here?

Jin Changyu remained expressionless. "Your father sent me."

"He told you to come, so you came?" Sang Qian stared at him with wide eyes.

"Why didn't you use work or business trip as an excuse to decline?"

They're already divorced, is it really necessary for him to come all this way?

Jin Changyu took a step towards her, lowered his eyes and said seriously, "Sang Qian, we haven't gotten a divorce certificate yet. Strictly speaking, we are still husband and wife, so it is my duty to pay respects to my grandparents."

"As their grandson-in-law, it is only right that I come back to pay my respects to them."

"..."

Sensing his approaching presence, Sang Qian subconsciously took a step back, and stared blankly into those earnest and devout black eyes.

A glimpse of him in his suit and tie out of the corner of my eye made it easy to guess that he had come straight over after finishing his work.

Sang Qian's rebuttal, which was about to come out, suddenly got stuck in her throat.

After a moment of silence, she said softly, "Then... I thank you for coming on behalf of my grandparents."

It is impolite to drive away people who come to worship sincerely.

Moreover, her divorce from Jin Changyu has not been made public yet. If she were to let him leave rashly, it would only arouse suspicion in her family.

Knowing they were getting a divorce, Sang Zhiming would definitely try to stop them.

She hadn't received the divorce certificate yet and didn't want to cause any further trouble.

Seeing her distant and aloof demeanor, Jin Changyu couldn't help but recall this time last year—

When he accompanied her back to pay respects to their ancestors, her joy and happiness were palpable.

The next day, after the ancestral worship ceremony, she excitedly dragged him all over the mountain, introducing him to all the great places she visited every summer vacation, and even taking him to pick fruit.

He was wearing a suit and leather shoes at the time, and she smiled and said to him, "Your outfit won't do. Next time, wear sportswear, and we can climb a tree to pick them."

Back then, her eyes were bright and sparkling, unlike now, when she looks at him with a cold, indifferent gaze, devoid of joy, and even showing disdain for his arrival.

After leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau that day, Sang Qian hadn't seen Jin Changyu. Now that he had suddenly appeared in front of her, she was at a loss for what to do.

"Um, why don't you rest here for a while? I need to talk to my second uncle."

Without waiting for his response, she turned and left.

Jin Changyu watched her departing figure, then sent a message to the driver, telling him to drive the car away.

Sang Qian came out of the inner hall and ran into Sang Zhiming on the outer corridor.

Upon seeing her, Sang Zhiming immediately asked, "A-Qian, is Changyu inside?"

Seeing how eager he was to curry favor with Jin Changyu, Sang Qian felt a surge of anger.

“The Sang family’s affairs have nothing to do with Jin Changyu. I hope you will stop ordering him around in the future.”

Sang Zhiming looked puzzled. "When did I order him around?"

"Then why did you call him back?"

"I called him back? No, I just..."

"In short, don't go looking for him anymore!"

Sang Qian didn't want to waste any more words with him, so she said that and strode past him.

Sang Zhiming looked innocent and bewildered.

He met Jin Changyu yesterday when he went to the Jin Group to discuss the South Peninsula project, and casually asked, "Aqian said she's going back to her hometown tomorrow and won't be with us. Changyu, are you going back with her?"

Jin Changyu looked up at him and said, "Yes."

He was the one who said he was coming back, so how could it be that he called the person back?

Could it be that...

Actually, Jin Changyu didn't plan to come back. He only came because Jin Changyu asked him a question and he felt obligated to come because of his father-in-law's feelings.

Thinking about it this way, Sang Zhiming's arrogance soared, and he felt that he had become much more presumptuous.

*

Sang Residence is a large Chinese-style courtyard house. The main house is located in the center and was where my grandparents used to live.

Two buildings were built on either side of the main house, for the two sons.

The one on the left is by Sang Jingshan, and the one on the right is by Sang Zhiming.

We ate dinner at Sang Jingshan's house.

The dining table was a solid wood round table. When Sang Qian and Jin Changyu came in, everyone else was already seated, leaving only two empty seats between Xu Manrong and Sang Jingshan.

Xu Manrong knew that Sang Qian was always close to Sang Jingshan and liked to sit next to him when they ate together. So when she saw the two of them coming over, her secretly delighted gaze was fixed on Jin Changyu, waiting for him to sit down in the seat next to her.

"Changyu, girl, come and sit down."

Sang Jingshan beckoned the two of them over.

"Okay, Second Uncle."

Jin Changyu responded, took the lead and sat down next to Sang Jingshan, then pulled out the chair next to him for Sang Qian to sit on.

Xu Manrong's smile froze instantly as she watched his actions.
