Chapter 5 Your ulterior motives are all too obvious.

Qi Yi didn't want to lose more than he gained, especially when it came to matters related to Tang Jinyu, which was even more impossible.

"But let me make this clear beforehand: if you dare to hurt her, I will absolutely not let you off the hook."

Qi Yi's words are all here.

Tang Jinyu was more than just a junior and subordinate to him.

Tang Jinyu is the younger sister of his best friend Tang Jinchen, and he's very protective of his sister.

Before Tang Jinyu arrived, Tang Jinchen repeatedly instructed him to take good care of her, and that he would hold him accountable if even a single hair on her head was missing.

"What do you mean I hurt her? I just felt interested in her."

"But she's different from the women you usually meet. You can't treat her with the same casual attitude you have."

"I don't care whether our two families are old friends or not, there's no room for discussion on this matter."

Qi Yi's attitude was very clear, making it obvious that the case and Tang Jinyu were the priorities.

"I understand, since you don't have any way to contact me anyway."

"When can you arrange another meeting for me? I reckon she wouldn't have met me if we weren't talking about my family issues."

"Brother Qi, you have to help me."

"Help you? What can I do to help you? You and she are not the same. You two are from completely different worlds. If I help you, I'll only be hurting her."

“She’s practically my sister, how could I possibly betray my own sister?”

Qi Yi rubbed his head. "I'm not helping you. If you're so capable, go after her yourself."

"I'm telling you this upfront, I don't have time to waste with you here. You'd better watch yourself."

After Qi Yi finished speaking, he really didn't intend to stay there for long. He grabbed his clothes and left.

"No, you're really not going to care about me anymore?"

"Hey, cousin, we're related by blood, aren't we?"

Qi Yiren had already walked far away, not even a trace of his back remained, and He Danqing sat still on the spot.

"Tang Jinyu".

"Things are getting more and more interesting."

"But I like it."

He Danqing finished her coffee, stood up, and walked outside.

He Danqing saw someone enter the law firm. The person had a ponytail and a very familiar figure. He Danqing seemed to remember something and rushed over without thinking.

Just as Tang Jinyu was about to close the elevator door, he quickly grabbed it.

He completely obscured the sky ladder, flashing his signature smile, "Attorney Tang, what a coincidence, we've met again."

Tang Jinyu took a step back. "If you have nothing else to do, let go of the door. I have other things to do."

He Danqing did release the door, but then went inside as well.

"Miss Tang, it's been so long, I've missed you terribly."

Tang Jinyu's expression remained unchanged. "Glib-tongued."

"I did this for you. I came this morning, but you weren't here."

"I went out for coffee with your senior, and then I saw you come back."

Tang Jinyu pressed the button for the eleventh floor of the elevator. "If Mr. He is here to discuss a case, I welcome him. But if you're here to flirt with girls, I don't welcome you."

I always felt that He Danqing was dishonest, and even if he came, his real intentions were not what they seemed.

As He Danqing and Tang Jinyu went upstairs together, they bumped into Qi Yi again.

"How did you two get in together?"

"Isn't it a coincidence that we met downstairs? You won't tell me what happened between her and me, but fate can't be stopped."

He Danqing walked over and put her arm around Qi Yi's shoulder, grinning from ear to ear.

"Don't you think so?"

"What is it? I don't have time to chat with you. Xiaoyu, come to my office. I have something to tell you."

He Danqing was overjoyed, thinking she would finally see Tang Jinyu, but Qi Yi separated them with just one sentence.

Seeing Qi Yi's back, He Danqing wished she could smash his head open, then snatch Tang Jinyu away for a while of alone time.

Tang Jinyu went straight to Qi Yi's office, found a place to sit down, and asked, "Senior, is there something you need?"

"Well, here's a case. Take a look."

Tang Jinyu was reading documents in Qi Yi's office, while He Danqing stood outside, idly peeking at the door, trying to eavesdrop on what was being discussed inside.

Tang Jinyu, however, was looking down at the documents intently, completely unaware of He Danqing's subtle actions.

Qi Yi, on the other hand, watched He Danqing making faces outside, but simply ignored it.

He waved his hand, as if to signal He Danqing to go further away.

But the person seemed to have completely misunderstood him. Instead of leaving, they were eager to come over.

Just as Tang Jinyu finished reading the documents and looked up, she saw all of Qi Yi's subtle movements.

"What's wrong?"

"It's alright, how's the data coming along?"

Tang Jinyu placed the documents on the coffee table, frowned and pondered for a moment before slowly speaking, "Gathering evidence is very difficult. As of now, we only have the plaintiff's side of the story."

"Without evidence, it's difficult to fight."

Qi Yi nodded. "This case was sent over by the legal aid department. I originally wanted to come in person."

"But the victim was a girl, and she reported the crime first, but as you said, there was no evidence."

"So after their investigation, they decided not to file a case."

"There's no other way but to take the legal route."

There was a deep sense of helplessness in Qi Yi's eyes. "She wasn't in a good mood, and since I'm a man, I couldn't communicate with her."

"It will upset her."

"I was thinking, it would be just as good if you came."

Qi Yi was initially very troubled, as there were other lawyers in the law firm.

But when it comes to people who would accept legal aid, the only one he can think of is Tang Jinyu.

“Our firm has many well-known lawyers, but to be honest, their hearts are no longer in this field.”

“You are different; your original aspiration has never changed.”

Tang Jinyu neither said it was good nor bad.

She simply picked up the documents again and said, "Give me some time."

Her expression turned serious the moment she saw the documents. Regardless of whether she could win the case, she had to meet with the client.

Qi Yi breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, if you have any questions, just ask me."

Tang Jinyu waved her hand, pushed open the door, and bumped into He Danqing, who was squatting at the door.

Upon seeing her, He Danqing immediately stood up.

She greeted him with a smile, "What a coincidence, we meet again."

Tang Jinyu rolled her eyes at him. "You come to our law firm and then tell me it's a coincidence?"

"Young Master He, don't make your ulterior motives too obvious."

Tang Jinyu chuckled, trying to play hard to get with her.

"How could that be? I genuinely want to discuss my case with you."

Tang Jinyu raised her hand and glanced at the time on her wristwatch. "I'm really sorry, I'm not free today. If you really want to talk, please make an appointment with me before you come next time."

After she finished speaking, she walked straight past He Danqing, showing no intention of continuing the pleasantries.

She still has clients to meet.

There's still a ton of data to organize, and some details about the court hearing in a few days need to be checked again.

I really don't have time to joke around with him here.
