Chapter 17 Brother, you have to help me

Tang Jinyu didn't know what these people were thinking, but she started to understand when the meeting room fell silent.

She felt that she was the last person who should remain silent.

To be fair, whether it was the case handled by the legal aid agency or the He family's case, the waters were very deep.

Tang Jinyu enjoys challenges and is not afraid of offending people.

Therefore, she never acts discreetly.

Having discussed everything, Qi Yi looked at Tang Jinyu and asked, "Shall I take you home?"

Tang Jinyu slowly stood up. "I'm taking a taxi. I'm not going back to the apartment today. I have something to do."

"You don't need to deliver it."

Tang Jinyu glanced at Qi Yi, then looked at Cheng Chi, "You two, don't look at me like that. I'm not paralyzed."

"It's okay to walk slowly."

"Besides, I really have something to do. Anyway, I haven't driven the car back yet. I can just flag down a car when I get out."

When she left Li Wan's house, she was completely unable to drive.

She was also worried that braking on the road would aggravate her back injury. Time was so tight, and she couldn't afford to waste any more time because of her injury.

"Are you sure you don't need me to take you?"

There are two free drivers standing in this conference room right now; no one would refuse to take her home.

But Tang Jinyu did not agree to either of them.

He slowly walked out of the meeting room, carrying only his bag and documents.

As she turned around, she smiled and waved to them.

It doesn't look like an injured person at all; it looks more like a little fox wagging its tail.

Tang Jinyu left the law firm, hailed a car on the roadside downstairs, and gave them her location.

As we got in the car, the driver was still asking, "Why are you going to such a remote place, young lady? That's all in the mountains, isn't it?"

Tang Jinyu just smiled and didn't say anything.

How could she know why she was on the mountain?

She's lived there since she was born.

Tang Jinyu looked out the car window at the scenery; it had indeed been a long time since she had returned.

It's still the same as I remember.

She leaned back in her seat and rested for a while. When the driver told her they had arrived, she opened her eyes, grabbed her things, and got off the bus.

She stood in front of this familiar door.

For a moment, I didn't know what to say.

After she rang the doorbell, someone quickly came to open the door for her.

Upon seeing her, his eyes lit up with surprise and delight.

"Young Miss is back!"

Tang Jinyu was still carrying her own things. "Um, is my brother home?"

"Young Master just returned not long ago. He would be very happy if he knew you were back."

Tang Jinyu sighed and said leisurely, "He's happy now, but I'm going to be in trouble."

Who knows what they'll say about her next.

Tang Jinyu hesitated as she walked into the park, still some distance from the villa's entrance.

What should have been a five-minute journey took her several times longer.

Before she even reached the door, she saw the person she really didn't want to see.

Tang Jinyu stopped in her tracks, frozen in place, and remained motionless for a moment.

The person standing in the distance raised an eyebrow. "What, trying to play the 'passing by your own home three times without entering' trick with me?"

Tang Jinyu's eyes flickered for a moment before she stammered, "I came back because I needed to talk to you."

After she finished speaking, she took a few steps forward and saw him blocking the doorway. She couldn't help but ask, "Are you going to let me in or not? If not, I'll go back."

"I'm not going to put up with your attitude."

Tang Yuan took a step back and moved aside to make room for her.

"It's been a long time since we last met. Your temper has certainly grown. If you didn't come back to me with something, wouldn't you be afraid I wouldn't help you?"

Tang Jinyu looked completely unconcerned; she had already returned, yet she was still being blocked at the door.

Whether they agree or not is not important.

Tang Yuan turned around and sat back down on the sofa, slowly pouring himself a cup of tea. "What is it?"

Tang Jinyu coughed lightly, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "There's something I'd like you to investigate for me."

"I really have no clue what to do, and time is tight. You're the only one I can think of."

Tang Yuan's expression remained unchanged.

"You only remembered me now?"

"When you said you wanted to be a lawyer that year, did I try to dissuade you?"

"I've also heard that your name is very well-known in the legal circle. You're fearless, dare to take on any case."

Tang Jinyu listened quietly without refuting.

After all, it was the truth, and she couldn't deny it.

"Yes, even if you disagree, I still want to be a lawyer."

"I have a sense of justice and want to use my methods to bring the truth buried in darkness to the surface. What's wrong with that?"

Tang Jinyu felt that this was the most correct decision she had ever made.

To this day, she has no regrets.

"You're not wrong, but look at the cases you've taken on."

Don't you think this involves too much?

"I told you long ago that people in this industry don't have clean hands. I'm telling you to stay away from these murky waters for your own good."

Tang Jinyu suddenly lowered her head. She knew it, but she still couldn't get over that hurdle in her heart.

She had no choice but to ignore what she knew was unfair and remain silent.

That's not her personality.

She pondered for a moment, then looked up at Tang Yuan, "But brother, isn't it all because you spoiled me that I've become like this?"

Even if I know I'll cause trouble, I'll think that no matter what, you'll still be there to clean up this mess for me.

Tang Jinyu didn't really become a lawyer on a whim, nor was she truly fearless.

On the contrary, she knew very well that a large part of the reason she was able to do all this was that she always had a strong support system behind her, no matter what.

Tang Jinyu is not afraid of causing trouble; in fact, she is quite fierce.

Who can blame her for having such an outstanding older brother?

I won't be your shield.

"Stop using me as an example."

"You've hardly ever listened to anything I've said since I was a child."

Tang Yuan turned her head away, knowing that Tang Jinyu was about to act coquettishly towards her the next second.

Simply choose to selectively ignore it.

Out of sight, out of mind.

"Brother~"

Tang Jinyu called out, almost as if she was about to tug at his sleeve.

"But this time, only you can help me."

"Moreover, this mess might be even deeper than before. I really had no other ideas, which is why I thought of you."

"If I had enough time, I definitely wouldn't bother you, but it's too rushed."

Both cases are very difficult.

"I have no clue yet, and the evidence I submitted is incomplete."

Tang Jinyu felt a headache coming on when she talked about these things, but she couldn't blame anyone.

This was the path she chose herself, and she knew it would be difficult when she decided to take it on.

But she still didn't refuse.

How deep is the water?

After a long time, she heard Tang Yuan ask this question.

Tang Jinyu's heart skipped a beat, realizing that there was still hope for her.

The fact that her brother didn't directly reject her means there's still room for negotiation.
