14 Crocodile

14 Crocodile

Qiao Jinnian said with a bitter face, feeling very aggrieved: "Ah, roar——"

Qiao Jinnian knew that she was at least a human being. Although she had been a human being for 18 years, she was just a medicine bottle who grew up in a wealthy family and was kept alive by modern medicine. But the biggest difference between humans and animals is that the brain is particularly developed.

If you don't know how to do it, then just try. If it doesn't work the first time, try again next time. Fortunately, she is the only one who needs to wear clothes here. Even if you can only make one piece of clothing a year, it's enough as long as it's enough.

Every day, apart from eating, sleeping and watching the little ostriches, she spent the rest of her time studying how to weave.

Ryan was still lying lazily under the tree. The weather was hot, so he could only lie in the shade with his eyes closed to conserve his energy so that he could better hunt.

Qiao Jinnian leaned on his belly, picked up two branches and stuck them in the soil. She first tied a piece of thin thread to the branches at a certain interval, so that there would be latitude lines. Then, she found a thinner branch, tied a thin thread to the needle of the branch like a needle, and passed through these latitude lines little by little from top to bottom. Without a loom, she could only sew them one by one.

She was too small, and her efficiency was very low. At the end of the day, she could only make a piece of cloth the size of a palm. Moreover, this so-called cloth felt very rough and could not be worn at all.

The baboons live happily here every day. Their biggest natural enemy lives in harmony with them. This is the territory of the king of the grassland. It can be said that they don’t have to worry about being attacked by any other natural enemies when they live here. They just need to be busy eating every day.

The sky gradually darkened. Qiao Jinnian finally stopped what she was doing. Without touching the two branches stuck in the ground, she lay directly in Ryan's arms, hugging his sturdy belly, and whispered, "Ryan, what should I do? I can't wear this clothes. It's too rough. My skin will be scratched..."

Knowing that he couldn't understand her, Qiao Jinnian was just talking casually. Even if it couldn't be worn, she could make other things, at least a mat or something.

Ryan, who had been lying down for the whole afternoon, made a "whoosh whoosh" sound with his mouth and yawned loudly out of boredom. When he saw her talking, he came over and licked her face and hair all over, making her face and body covered with saliva. He also put his huge front paws on her belly, pressing her so hard that she could hardly breathe. She had to change her position to at least not press on her heart.

The riverside was very quiet at night. Qiao Jinnian had never even seen a crocodile come ashore in this river, but she did see many wildebeests and gazelles buried in the river a few months ago. So, those crocodiles probably knew that there was a huge lion here, and coming up was a provocation to the lion.

People are really not susceptible to being talked about, and neither are crocodiles. The night before, Qiao Jinnian was still thinking that she had not seen any crocodiles here, but tonight she saw a crocodile with her own eyes.

Since the herbivores moved north, the crocodiles had a good meal for several days. However, as the river water level dropped and the number of animals decreased, the top predators had to start expanding their diet.

For example, the crocodiles that had been staying in the river suddenly came out in the middle of the night to eat the little ostriches!

Qiao Jinnian was awakened by the buzzing sound of the ostrich. The female ostrich had one of its chicks stolen, so she flapped her wings and tried to kick the crocodile to death with her toes. However, the crocodile was very fast, and after stealing the child, it retreated backwards into the river.

Ostriches do not have vocal cords, but male ostriches can use their throats to open and close to make a vibrating "buzzing" sound. This strange sound woke Qiao Jinnian up.

When I woke up, Ryan was not by my side. He usually moved around at night and slept most of the time during the day.

But she knew Ryan must be nearby.

Seeing the baby ostrich being eaten by a crocodile, Qiao Jinnian was extremely anxious, but she had no choice but to shout to the baboon in the tree in the distance: "Da Zhuang, the baby ostrich has been stolen!"

Da Zhuang is the name she gave to the baboon leader because he is very strong and bigger than other baboons. Now the baboon leader also knows that he is Da Zhuang.

Hearing the cry, Da Zhuang quickly ran over and saw everything in front of him. After all, their perception was much stronger than that of a human like her.

However, he seemed to be used to it. After all, this is a world where the strong prey on the weak, and they can't do anything. Besides, ostriches are not from the baboon family.

Qiao Jinnian knew that they would not take the initiative to help, and she shouldn't help, but she had watched those ostriches being born and growing up little by little. Even if she couldn't do anything, she had to at least do something, otherwise she would feel uneasy.

So she just gestured to Dazhuang to put her on the tree.

Da Zhuang was already familiar with her request and put her on the tree.

Fortunately, she did not have night blindness. In the moonlight, she took out her slingshot, thinking that at least she could let the crocodile know that the ostriches here were not to be eaten casually, and let it feel the pain.

The crocodile quickly dived into the water. She could no longer see the crocodile and could only guess where it was. She took the small stones she had prepared in advance and used a slingshot to shoot the stones into the water. Of course, most of them hit the water. In the silent night, they only made some "bang bang" sounds on the water surface, and nothing happened.

Even the mother ostrich gave up and went back to sit in the nest. The father ostrich also went back after calling 12 times, as if this was the most normal thing.

The baboons also went back, leaving Qiao Jinnian alone. She was still unwilling to give up and kept throwing stones at the river. Her pockets were full of pebbles.

Until all the stones were hit, Qiao Jinnian could no longer get down from the tree and could only lie on the branch, sighing helplessly that everything he was doing was as ridiculous as a mantis trying to stop a chariot or an ant tripping an elephant.

But she couldn't just sit there and do nothing. Was she afraid of crocodiles? Of course she was. She had hidden in a tree specifically because she was afraid that a crocodile would climb onto the shore and attack her.

Now, she didn't dare go down because Ryan was not there. What if the crocodile got angry and ate her?

The more Qiao Jinnian thought about it, the angrier she became. The baby ostrich was so small and the crocodile couldn't eat enough. It was a success the first time. What if he came every day in the future? What would she do?

Lying on the tree, Qiao Jinnian kept his eyes on the river, observing the movements of the crocodile.

Until the sun slowly rose from the distant horizon, the sky looked like someone had splashed gold and red paint on a black curtain. The endless grassland, a long river dividing the grassland into two, sparse trees of various kinds, and various animals moving around on the grassland all began their day's activities.

Qiao Jinnian didn't sleep all night. She kept thinking of a solution. She couldn't let the crocodile continue to harass the baby ostriches.

Until she saw with her own eyes a huge crocodile crawling out of the river. The crocodile crawled towards a leopard on the shore quietly without making any sound.

The leopard looked very hungry and went down to the mud pond opposite to look for fish to eat.

Little did he know that there was a crocodile lurking around to attack him.

Qiao Jinnian suddenly shouted: "Roar——"

She deliberately imitated Ryan's roar to warn other lions, but she was not a lion, just a child. She didn't know if the leopard could hear the lion's roar. At least she wanted him to know that there were lions here and he needed to be alert.

She roared at the top of her lungs and then started coughing: "Cough cough cough..."

Humans are indeed not suitable to learn to roar like animals.

The leopard on the other side of the river actually heard the roar, and when it raised its head, it looked in her direction, while the crocodile stopped where it was because of the shout.

Soon, the leopard noticed the ambush crocodile and jumped back in fright.

The leopard was very agile. It quickly lowered its body and roared at the crocodile in front of it: "Woo-ho, woo-ho--"

His voice didn't carry as far as a lion's, but it couldn't be ignored either.

The crocodile stood there in a daze, as if thinking about whether to fight the leopard on the shore. After all, the water was his battlefield. Just as he was stunned, the leopard spun and jumped and ran away.

You know, the leopard is a leader in both speed and flexibility, he just doesn't want to fight the crocodile head-on.

The crocodile also crawled back angrily, and when it retreated back into the water, it looked towards the tree here.

Qiao Jinnian didn't know if the crocodile knew that she had helped the leopard, but unfortunately he couldn't climb trees, so she boldly shouted at the crocodile, "I'm warning you, don't come here to steal ostriches again. I'll be watching you!"

Unfortunately, the crocodile couldn't understand what she said. This was what made her most helpless. She didn't know what to do.

When Ryan came back, he saw her lying on the tree from a distance.

"Roar—" Ryan raised his head and yelled at her, as if he was teaching a disobedient child a lesson. It was a stern and helpless voice.

Qiao Jinnian said with a bitter face, feeling very aggrieved: "Ah, roar——"

She was deliberately imitating the roar of other little lions, and she didn't know what she was saying, but this is how little lions talk to their lioness mother, so there should be no problem.

Ryan tilted his head, circled the tree, found a foothold, jumped, and clasped the trunk of the tree with his sharp claws, climbing up carefully.

Qiao Jinnian knew that female lions could climb trees, but male lions were generally unwilling to climb trees, mainly because they were too big and difficult to climb. She didn't expect Ryan's tree-climbing skills were quite impressive.

"Roar--" Qiao Jinnian roared like a little lion again.

Ryan climbed very slowly, finding the right foothold for each step to ensure that he would not fall, but his eyes were filled with determination and tenderness.

It was not until he came in front of Qiao Jinnian that he thought about it, picked her up in his mouth, turned around, estimated a solid foothold, and when he came to the middle of the tree trunk, he jumped and jumped directly down from the tall tree.

Qiao Jinnian was very happy and discovered that Ryan had a skill in climbing trees. But when she thought of the crocodile that came to harass the ostrich, she began to feel aggrieved. Pointing at the river, she said to him, "A crocodile ate a baby ostrich yesterday. Ryan, we must find a way to stop him..."

"Roar..." Ryan growled helplessly, but also looked at the calm river surface.
