He said she was his girlfriend, but in reality, An Chi didn't dare to overstep the boundaries. At least in front of Su Yao, he still acted the same way. Otherwise, Su Yao was the kind of person who loved to do bad things.

An Chi has largely finalized the cooperation with City C, leaving only follow-up developments, so his trips to City C have become less frequent. Life has returned to a routine of school, company, and three-way travel for Su Yao. However, Su Yao herself has become busier; before, she only had to shuttle between home and the company, but now she also has to take on Su's Group.

Su's purpose in going to the Su family is at most to teach Su Wenxie how to handle some problems; he will not concern himself with anything else.

She shouldn't be managing the Su family business now, nor is she qualified to do so. All she can do is help Su Wenxie grow stronger quickly so that those old fogies don't devour her completely.

Whenever An Chi encountered such situations, he would sit in his car and wait for Su Yao. He didn't have the right to enter the Su family to listen to their discussions. Even if they didn't mind, the issue of his status was unclear. He wasn't qualified to be either a member of the Su family or Su Yao's people.

The matter between the two of them dragged on until the New Year.

On New Year's Eve, Su Yao was still busy with Su's business. The company did find someone to replace Ge Jin. That's how quickly the world changes. With Tang Pai leading the way and Bai Lutong not causing trouble, Su Yao could relax.

However, this is strange, because Bai Lutong doesn't cause trouble, he doesn't cause trouble for the Su family, and he doesn't cause trouble for Su Yao.

Logically speaking, the things Su asked Bai Lutong to do back then shouldn't have troubled him for too long; it was just that he suffered more losses.

Su knew that no matter what trouble he caused, Bai Lutong would always find a solution, so it was better to let him suffer more losses.

The winters in the north are still too cold. Even though Su had air conditioning at her company and was wearing a down jacket when she came downstairs, the cold air outside was still unbearable, even in a place like the underground parking lot where there wasn't much wind.

An Chi waited for her in the car, watching her jog, her hands tightly in her pockets, her neck constantly hunched over, just to keep the warmth inside her body from escaping.

An Chi got out of the car and, before she could come forward, opened the passenger door for her.

Since the last time she saw An Chi, he had changed to a new car. It was no longer his 911, but a Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Anyway, it must not be cheap. Su Yao didn't know much about the prices of these cars, but she recognized the brand. After all, she couldn't be unfamiliar with the environment in which she grew up.

As she got into the car, she thought that if Wenxie saw it, he would know the price of the car. But now he was so busy that he even spent New Year's Eve on the top floor of the Su family's building.

An Chi noticed her pause as she got into the car and asked gently, "What are you thinking about?"

"I was wondering how much your car costs?"

"Not expensive, maybe a little over a million?"

Su smiled and said, "An Chi, before you joined the Su family, did you think that more than a million was an unattainable amount? But now you actually think that more than a million is not expensive."

He started the car and said, "Indeed, but I've always thought that over a million is expensive. But for you, shouldn't I say it's not expensive?"

Su needs to understand that An Chi is using his status and position to speak to people in a human way and to ghosts in a ghostly way.

"You've been abroad all these years, but you haven't learned the directness of those foreigners. Instead, you've become quite slicker." Su said, fastening her seatbelt.

An Chi smiled silently, offering no reply. Su Yao's words weren't meant to inquire about his life abroad; they were merely a jest. He understood this clearly now and wouldn't presume to know more.

Su thought he was slick, but that was only because he no longer talked nonsense like a brainless person, just like years ago when she thought she would once again be kind enough to keep him. Now he was much smarter, which was the result Su wanted back then. At least he could make her satisfied on the surface.

"How do you want to spend the New Year?" An Chi was somewhat surprised that Su Yao would ask such a question.

He raised an eyebrow, his hands gripping the steering wheel. "Is the amusement park in the south of the city still open? Come with me."

Su picked up her phone and sent a message, "If it won't turn on, I can make it turn on."

"Forget it, I don't want to become a capitalist that everyone despises."

"So you despise me too?" Su Yao's words today were quite novel.

An Chi said, "You're not a capitalist who exploits me here."

"What about four years ago? The year I forced you to go abroad? Did you despise me? Did you hate me, Anchi?"

“I answered that question when you said you had been mentoring me.”

"I mean, when I first sent you abroad."

“I hate you, I especially hate you, Su Yao, but I don’t despise you. I despise myself even more, because if I were more capable, I wouldn’t have been sent abroad by you, right? So, just like you said, I shouldn’t hate you.”

Su looked at his profile; his eyes drooped at the corners, his nose was straight and upturned, and his lips were still as thin as when he was young, giving him the feel of a mature man, even though An Chi was only twenty years old this year.

“An Chi, I did go to your school to look for you back then, but I didn’t dare to see you every time. I was afraid you would hate me. So when we had dinner that time, I emphasized that you shouldn’t hate me because I was afraid that your feelings for me would worsen. I…” Su Yao didn’t know how to continue for a moment. In fact, everyone has their own thoughts about everything. Su Yao seems to be a person who is not afraid of anything, but she also has her own grudges.

An Chi reached out and grasped Su Yao's trembling hand. "Su Yao, your decision is correct. My current success is something that boy from four years ago could never have achieved. Don't be afraid of this. I appreciate everything you've done for me."

After saying that, he withdrew his hand, gripped the steering wheel, and said with a smile, "Don't forget, I'm your pet."

Su pursed her lips, a hint of sadness creeping into her captivating fox-like eyes. She couldn't get any familial affection from An Chi through the An family, nor from her. She only felt sorry. She hadn't fulfilled her role as a mother, even though An Chi didn't ask for any of that.

Even without amusement parks open, their New Year's Eve is just like any other couple's: they have a decent dinner and walk down the street. Shopping malls often display holiday-related content on such days, and the big screens on New Year's Eve show countdowns.

A stroll seems to appeal to all couples, except for An Chi and Su Yao.

There's a comment online that says rich people dress fashionably all year round, simply because they always live in heated homes.

Su Yao is the kind of person who has always lived in a heated environment, but now she is walking on the street with An Chi at the end of December. After thinking it over, she decided to go with the child, otherwise she would seem too old-fashioned.

But An Chi is perceptive. He saw through Su Yao's feelings and suggested that he wanted to go back and hold her while he slept, saying that he hadn't had a good night's sleep in a long time.

Su looked at him and teased, "You don't look like you haven't slept well in a long time, but rather like you haven't had sex in a long time."

An Chi curled his lips, "Su Yao, you really are driven by lust."

Both of them seemed to agree that their words no longer needed to be refuted by either of them, unlike in the past.

The two said they were going home, but they actually chatted in the mall to avoid the wind until almost midnight. Su checked the time and suddenly grabbed An Chi's hand, "Hurry to the square! It's almost midnight!"

An Chi was pulled up by him and they ran outside together. Just then, the big screen was counting down, with five seconds left.

Su looked at Anchi and said, "Three! Two! One! Happy New Year! Su Anchi."

Her eyes sparkled, not like the twinkling of stars, but a light she was born with.

The crowd was very dense, and there were all sorts of people around him, but An Chi couldn't see them. His eyes were blinded by the light. He could only see Su Yao, only Su Yao who belonged to him today, and he would always be "Su An Chi", Su Yao's pet.

An Chi hugged Su Yao and hummed, "Su Yao, why are you being so nice to me today?"

"Was I bad before?" Su asked him in return.

Okay, she's always been good, otherwise he wouldn't have fallen in love with her.

However, An Chi didn't say it aloud. He just took her hand and warmed it, saying, "Let's go home, okay?"

"Okay." Her fair skin was placed in his palm, their fingers intertwined.

As usual, An Chi held her as they lay on the master bedroom bed in the city center. This was how he woke up the night he turned eighteen, and after so many years, he still held her as they fell asleep.

Su always liked to spoil the mood at the right time, "What if I never want to get married, An Chi?"

“Su Yao.” An Chi tightened his grip on her, his tone slightly serious. He had hinted at everything, so why was he going back on his word now?

Su struggled with her arms, "An Chi, listen to me, I can date you, but I don't want to get married. If we have a child... the child can take your surname."

It seems that saying this is very difficult.

An Chi smiled. He wasn't angry because Su Yao didn't want to get married, but he smiled because the child would take his surname.

"The child won't take my surname, he'll take yours."

"Okay." Su agreed the most readily. She originally wanted the child to take her surname, but she felt guilty because An Chi was so looking forward to marriage and she might not be able to give it to him.

An Chi, who was taken aback by her quick agreement, composed himself before softly asking, "Why don't you want to marry me?"

"Marrying you would be a huge disadvantage for me. For example, in the event of a divorce, I would have to give you half of my marital property..."

Before she could finish speaking, An Chi interrupted, "We can write a prenuptial agreement."

"Then I'll be at a huge loss too. What if your wealth surpasses mine in the future?"

An Chi was speechless.

Then Su listed a bunch of bad things, and it seemed that marriage had no benefits for her.

An Chi listened to her without interrupting her. After she finished speaking, he understood that this was Su Yao's concern; she was probably afraid of marriage.

But Su then offered a long explanation that she did not have any issues with An Chi.

Then he kissed her cheek and said, "Don't overthink it, Miss Su. I respect all your decisions. I belong to you alone and will only listen to you."

Su felt a little dizzy after being kissed and told a bunch of sweet nothings. She shook her hand and said, "Go to sleep."

"Are you shy, Su Yao?"

"No."

"You're shy."

"No!"

"Don't touch Su Yao, or I'll get shy."
