As night falls, it's as if the bowing actors are bringing the stage to a perfect close.

Su needs to go back and check on An Chi to see how well he is resting.

Ge Jin saw her off.

Sue tried to tell him it wasn't necessary, but he got into the car anyway.

Unable to resist his insistence, Su simply got into the back seat.

In the rearview mirror, her eyes were fixed on the office buildings of varying heights; this place was some distance from the building in the city center.

There are far fewer vehicles now, and more young people hurrying into the subway.

If Tang were driving, she would definitely lament the pressure on young people and her own good fortune. Su would always say that her own strength is not weak and there is no need to belittle herself.

She always had so much compassion, just like Su Yao in the past.

But Ge Jin never cared about these things; he cared more about—"President Su, Assistant Tang has already discussed your schedule with me again."

"Is there a problem?" Su turned her head to look at that familiar face in the rearview mirror.

“You shouldn’t do this,” he said carefully. “It will delay a lot of things, and suddenly canceling some tasks will also affect the employees’ work attitude.”

“I thought you were going to ask me why I did this, Ge Jin.” Su Yao looked out the window again, his tone unchanged.

Ge Jin opened his mouth, then closed it again. After a pause, he finally spoke, "I know why, because of Mr. An."

"Then you know quite a lot."

She smiled, as if she always liked to smile whenever An Chi was mentioned, whether it was something good or bad.

"President Su," he said, reminding her that she shouldn't be like this, "Do you... have other feelings for Mr. An?"

"I don't know," Su replied truthfully.

Ge Jin frowned. "I won't interfere with your choices, but I hope you will take your feelings seriously, because your situation will affect the company's stock market."

Su listened to him calmly and didn't answer for a long time, but the sweat on his temples betrayed him. Ge Jin was also nervous when he said these words.

As they approached, Su suddenly spoke up: "Ge Jin, I know that among all the choices, you are the best. There is no scheming marriage between wealthy families, no disgusting ex-girlfriend disputes, and no stock market issues that affect the company."

She paused, wiping away the sweat that had fallen again with her hand. "But, all we have is work. When I see you, all I can think about is work, just like how you use the company's safety to pressure me. But don't worry, if I really have a choice, I'll tell you first so you can prepare for public relations and the company's future."

After finishing his words, Su Yao pushed open the door and left, leaving only Ge Jin, who was filled with regret for being too hasty.

But she didn't go upstairs directly. Instead, she sat on the sofa in the lobby, and the building manager poured her a glass of water.

Su Yao was well aware of how many eyes were watching her. She couldn't do anything that would harm the company, but she hated being threatened, no matter what kind of threat it was.

Ge Jin made a foolish mistake this time. He lost his composure after hearing Tang Pai's itinerary this morning. Knowing his sensible nature, he could only think of An Chi, who was bedridden. He was right on the first try. But he shouldn't have been so impatient in putting pressure on her. He hadn't gotten anything himself, yet he thought he could succeed and wanted Su to wake up and fantasize about some old-fashioned hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress plot.

But he asked himself, was Su really not sober? She didn't say that adjusting her schedule because of someone meant she was already considering all the public opinion. Even if she was suspected, she could use the excuse that she was too tired and wanted to rest to cover it up, but he pointed it out without any regard for anything.

After taking a couple of sips of water, Su Yao went upstairs. She had promised An Chi that she would come back to see him.

An Chi was already sitting on the sofa waiting when he heard the keypad lock. He put down his laptop and stood up behind the door.

This is the scene when Su opened the door: An Chi rubbed his hands on his clothes, smiled at her with an indescribable sense of happiness in his eyes.

She believed that she had benefited greatly from helping An Jia. She had someone who was willing to sacrifice for her, someone who helped her avoid most arranged marriages, and she even had a period of "painless motherhood" and gained a good reputation.

But she had only spent some money, and it didn't really hurt her.

She just didn't understand where An Chi's happiness came from.

He was forced to study abroad against his will, his family wasn't truly sincere, and even the only person who took him in repeatedly rejected him...

But in his eyes, there was always so much more beauty than in hers.

"Your eyes are so beautiful." That's what she thought, and that's what she said.

When Su Yao suddenly praised him, An Chi, who usually teased Su Yao, became flustered. He said softly, "Your eyes are the most beautiful."

She didn't answer, but simply changed her shoes, glanced at the various documents on the coffee table and the still-open laptop, and asked, "Has the fever gone down?"

"My temperature returned to normal in the afternoon." He picked up the thermometer that was casually placed next to him, pressed it against his forehead, and the green number showed that he was not lying.

Su picked up the documents and joked with him, "Aren't you afraid I'll steal your company's secrets if you leave them out like this?"

Would you do something that is not honorable to win?

"You never know." She turned and smiled at him.

"It's okay, I'll support whatever you do." An Chi gazed into her eyes.

The atmosphere became ambiguous and tender, but Su recovered quickly.

"I really enjoy being around smart people like you."

An Chi sighed: "What if I said I meant it?"

She did not answer that question.

"I'm glad you're alright. I'll be going now. I'll keep my promise to you. Just let me know in advance and I'll make time for you."

After saying "okay," Su changed his shoes and left.

She intended to drive away herself, but then she received a call from Tang Pai, who said she was being followed and was very scared.

Su then asked her to come and pick him up.

After getting on the bus, Su reached out to soothe Tang Pai's trembling hands, "It's okay, tell me slowly, where are they?"

"It stopped at the entrance of the residential area."

"When did you start being followed in your car?"

"It's right after I get off work."

Her voice was still trembling; a girl would always overthink things when faced with something like this.

“Drive out, let me check the license plate and ask someone,” Su said confidently, but then glanced at Tang Pai and said, “Never mind, get out, I’ll drive.”

The two switched places and exited the residential area.

Su Yao was very familiar with the area. After circling around, he determined which car was following him, remembered the license plate, and called Pei Zhixi: "Help me check the car."

Pei Zhixi's voice was still a little nasal, probably because she had just woken up: "Give it to me, why don't you ask Shang Jiuqi?"

He asked that one extra question, and Su replied, "He must be having a lot on his plate lately, with his wedding and family matters to deal with. You should hurry up and get back to work."

While she was talking, Pei Zhixi sent her the information he had found: "Why are you interested in such an ordinary person?"

Su wanted to hang up the phone directly and have Tang Pai open his phone and read it to her.

It's just an ordinary person's private car.

There was no reason to follow Tang Pai's car.

Su wanted to drive directly back to the company, so he asked Tang Pai to find the security personnel on night shift to stop the car.

The girl who came down looked young and inexperienced, with a defiant expression on her face.

"Why are you following the car?" Su Yao asked coldly, her angry expression resembling that of an enraged leopard.

"How do I know Zhang Puyun wasn't on the bus? He clearly came in this bus."

Su Yao didn't know who the "Zhang Puyun" she was talking about was, so she looked at Tang Pai behind her.

"He's the person you mentioned on the big screen. You asked him if he wanted to enter the entertainment industry, and I was thinking about what you instructed me to do, so I drove there myself and picked him up at the company," Tang Pai answered honestly.

Su looked like he suddenly realized something and said to the girl, "A stalker, huh? Then let's go to the police station."

The girl was clearly flustered, "I wasn't chasing after you! You can't do this."

"Heh, go ask around in City A, is there anything I, Su Yao, can't do?" Her expression remained unchanged. Su Yao waved her hand, signaling the security guards to take her away. "My lawyer will talk to you."

"President Su..." Tang Pai said softly from behind.

“Do you want to let her go? Line up.” He hit the nail on the head. “Kindness to this kind of person is malice to yourself. She may not be pursuing you, but if she ends up with that Zhang guy today, well, it doesn’t matter, our company will be responsible.”

"I understand, President Su, but what I really want to say is thank you." Tang Pai suddenly hugged Su Yao, tears welling up in her eyes.

Su was stunned by the sudden action. She calmed down and gently patted Tang Pai's back, comforting him softly, "It's okay, it's not your fault. Next time you pick up someone like this, remember to use the company car, not your own. Okay, let's go home."

Tang Pai wasn't in good condition, so Su insisted on taking over and drove her home.

Tang lived in an apartment arranged by the company, and Su wanted to get to know her well, but the process wasn't very fast.

"Mr. Su, do you think people have to get married?"

Su was a little confused. Tang Pai's sudden question left her unsure of what to say. But she looked at Tang Pai, whose emotions were still somewhat unstable, and thought that changing the subject would be better for Tang Pai: "Actually, it's not necessarily true. I'm over thirty years old this year, and I'm still not married."

"But you and I are different."

"Yes, I am different from you, but we are both women and both human beings."

If you presuppose the individual differences between you and me, then nothing I say will have any value or meaning for you. You are simply ignoring the fact that we also have common ground beyond individual differences.

We are in control of our own lives. We don't need to use something, or marriage, which you specifically mentioned, to prove our value at a certain stage.

Is everything that everyone does during this period necessarily correct? With the definition of majority rule, how can you be sure that the minority's choice is good and not a paradoxical one?

So what I want to say is that no matter how much your aunt urges you to get married, you should follow your heart, not follow others.

If marriage is a good thing for you right now, I'm all for it; if not, I'm absolutely in favor. What do you say?

Su Yao's words always flowed like a gentle stream, slowly gliding through Tang Pai's heart.

Su always said that too much greed had made her lose all her former sensitivity and sensibility. But no matter what, a person's true nature is like a blank sheet of paper covered with paint. From the outside, it will always look colorful, but when you peel back the layers, the gorgeous exterior cannot hide the pure whiteness inside.

When Su dropped Tang Pai off downstairs, he smiled and said, "Looks like it's not the assistant taking the boss home today. Can I borrow the car for now? I'll pick you up tomorrow morning, okay?"

"No need, Mr. Su, I can take the subway."

Before the two had finished their conversation, there was a knock on the car window.

Su looked at that familiar yet unfamiliar face, unable to recall its name, only feeling that she recognized it.

Tang Pai appeared slightly nervous, gripping the seatbelt tightly. "President Su, I'll head back now."

Su grabbed her hand as she unbuckled her seatbelt, raising her chin towards the people outside the car: "Isn't he the one that the stalker was pursuing?"

"Yes." Tang Pai swallowed hard.

"Remember to contact me if anything happens." After saying this, Su let go of her hand.

She could tell that there was definitely something going on between the two, but since Tang Pai was unwilling to talk about it, she wouldn't force him. After all, it was an employee's own business. However, since it involved Tang Pai's personal safety, she couldn't help but give him a word of advice.

"I understand," Tang Pai replied and got out of the car.

The man followed Tang upstairs. Su wanted to make sure she got home safely, so she drove home herself.
