Bai Lutong's situation was relatively easy to handle. Su Yao called Shang Jiuqi and asked him to cause some trouble for Bai Lutong, and also found other jobs for investment. As for the unfinished project in Singapore, it had already been handed over to that person surnamed Liu, so it wasn't really a big problem. The only thing that really angered Su Yao was Ge Jin and Tang Pai's attitude. Problems that shouldn't have occurred caused them to both make mistakes, but fortunately, after Su Yao said a few words, they realized their mistakes and corrected them.

After returning to China, her schedule became packed again. What kind of arrangements would make her feel that a business trip is relaxing? Apart from the last time she made a special trip for An Chi, she never had such a trip in China.

Autumn arrived quickly, with a chilly autumn wind gently caressing the face. People in all sorts of long sleeves hurried along the roadside, and withered yellow leaves scattered at Su Yao's feet. She hadn't seen An Chi for a very long time, about two months.

She came to see Su Qingye today, and that "I'm sorry" was still vivid in her mind, imprinted in her heart. When she left, she suddenly wanted to sit on the bench for a while. She should calm down. In recent days, apart from Bai Lutong who was always jumping around her, Ge Jin's behavior of settling down was obvious. He was more attentive to his work. As for An Chi, it was already good enough if he could say a few silly words on the phone, let alone meet with her. He was busier than anyone else.

This situation should have made Su Yao happy, but she just couldn't muster any interest. It seemed she missed An Chi's cooking. Last time she came back from Singapore, she didn't get to eat a bite of tomato and egg noodles, and she was really craving it.

Speak of the devil, and he shall appear.

A message popped up on my phone.

Anchi: What are you doing?

Su Yao: To enjoy the scenery.

An Chi: Am I prettier than the scenery?

Su looked at the distant cemetery, smiled, and replied: You.

Shocked by the message on his phone, An Chi didn't know how to reply for a moment. Su Yao rarely praised him in such joking situations, so something must have happened today.

An Chi's eyes darkened for a moment: Where are you?

Su Yao: At Grandma's grave.

When Su Yao mentioned her grandmother, An Chi immediately understood—it was Su Qingye's grave. Recalling how Su Yao had cried at the hospital last time, he took a deep breath and called her, "Have you missed me?"

"Yes." Su Yao, who had decided to follow her heart, did not intend to hide this, but added, "I want to eat your cooking."

There was a sound coming from An Chi's direction—the sound of quick footsteps and other subtle noises. Then, the sound suddenly stopped at the second half of his sentence, and his voice became urgent: "I'll take you home and cook for you, okay?"

Su thought he was joking and didn't take it to heart, so she jokingly replied, "Okay."

After that sentence, the two stopped talking, but tacitly agreed not to hang up the phone.

As soon as the car started, Su asked him, "Are you going to be busy again?"

"Yeah, I'm busy, busy picking you up."

Before Su Yao could even suggest hanging up, his next sentence left Su Yao speechless. In that moment of mixed emotions, the sound of the wind whistling through the leaves drifted lightly into Su Yao's eyes. It was one of the few green leaves that hadn't insisted on staying on the branch, but had suddenly entered Su Yao's sight, just like An Chi now, who hadn't competed or fought for anything, yet had just caught Su Yao's eye at the right time.

In fact, during the days she didn't agree to An Chi's request, besides thinking about the real answer in her heart, she was also thinking about one thing: why was she willing to value her relationship with An Chi, rather than her relationship with Ge Jin?

The answer you can't find may be the best answer.

Thousands of yellow leaves fluttered down, as magnificent as a stampede of a thousand horses, yet also silent and still, with a rustling sound and a chaotic snapping sound when stepped on, as if they were easily broken.

I'm getting a little tired from sitting.

Su Yao stood up, squatted down, and picked up the green leaf. He examined the veins on it closely. They were long and thin, with densely packed veins distributed across the leaf, like blood flowing through veins. The stem was a hard, yellowish piece, which should have spread, but it had fallen prematurely, which was a pity. Feeling regretful, Su Yao squatted for a while until his fingers went numb. He pinched the stem with his fingertips and was about to stand up when a pair of black sneakers appeared in front of him.

Looking up, Su saw An Chi smiling. He reached out to her, wanting to help her up.

The afterglow of the setting sun fell on An Chi, the light on the right side of his face was dappled with sunlight, and the halo around his eyelashes was a burnt yellow.

"Get up?"

"Um."

Su Yao placed her hand on An Chi's hand and used his strength to get up. An Chi asked with concern, "Are your legs numb?"

“I don’t like to show off like you do. I remembered this before you even arrived.” Su Yao’s other hand was still clutching the green leaf, turning the stem in his hand. The two leaf blades swayed in the air, creating a slight breeze.

An Chi looked at the leaf in her hand, "Why did you decide to pick up leaves?"

"Just bored."

An Chi chuckled mischievously, "How could someone as busy as President Su be bored?"

"Not as busy as President An." Su rolled her eyes and the two slowly moved towards the car.

An Chi suddenly became serious. "I have been very busy lately, with the company I've set up here and some academic matters. I'm sorry, I'll try to adjust my schedule in the future."

He didn't lie to her. The sudden appearance of "Yao" a while ago caused quite a stir, and An Chi's background was spread wildly on the internet, even involving her. However, the news quickly faded away. If it wasn't Su Yao's doing, then it was the man in front of her. He didn't want to expose Su Yao too much to the media.

"It was just a joke..." Before he could finish his words of comfort, An Chi himself told her in a righteous tone that this was a serious matter.

"I'm not joking, Su Yao. You're in a bad mood today, aren't you? If I hadn't messaged you, if I had been busy, you'd think you'd bear all this alone. That's not right, whether I'm your child or your suitor. If bad emotions aren't properly released, they'll build up and become unbearable. From now on, even without me, you can talk to Assistant Tang, Shang Jiuqi, etc. If you want, you can also talk to… Assistant Ge… Bai Lutong. Just don't try to process everything alone, promise me, okay?"

He stopped, took her hand, and stood with her, facing each other on the yellow fallen leaves. The scorching sun was gradually sinking behind the mountains, but that touch of green was still tightly held between his fingers, shining brightly. Just as Su was listening attentively to the question An Chi was explaining, her fingertips lost focus and loosened, and the leaves swayed and fell into the vast "yellow sea".

A small boat carried them.

She simply smiled and nodded, offering no verbal agreement. He looked at her, his eyes filled with immeasurable tenderness, which Su Yao could see clearly. She realized that she was being pitied by someone who was "more pitiful" than herself.

But what does it mean to be more pitiful than her? Su was amused by his own thoughts. This definition was like a stereotype. His background, his path, everything he possessed seemed incomparable to hers. Yet, this was the kind of person whose existence was far more meaningful than hers, and whose understanding was more tolerant than hers.

Su Yao was able to figure out An Chi's thoughts because he had lived by her side for a long time and his eyes did not hide his emotions. However, An Chi could not figure out Su Yao's thoughts. Nodding was both an implication and a definite answer. She could not agree to all of his words, but she could agree to... part of them.

She tiptoed, right next to his ear, and whispered, "I won't tell Bai Lutong about these things."

In that instant, his heart skipped a beat and his mind raced with memories. An Chi and the others' reactions all pointed to the danger of this action. His breathing was completely in sync with everything Su Yao was doing.

Even Su Yao noticed the instant his expression changed. As she carefully observed him, An Chi grasped her right hand with his left, turned his shoulder towards her, and wrapped his right arm around Su Yao's shoulder, pulling her into his embrace. His nose gently brushed against her hair, accompanied by a faint minty scent.

An Chi: "If you keep doing this, I really won't feel like cooking for you anymore."

"Then let's cook together."

"Su Yao, you must have been a womanizer in your past life."

Their feet crunched on the golden road, and the embrace remained unchanged. Su Yao leaned against his chest, her weight pressing down on An Chi, but Su Yao felt much more relaxed. An Chi remained silent, only smiling as he pushed her towards the car.

Previously, Su Yao's image was always decisive and efficient, with a serious expression and angry eyes. She was always highly independent and had a straightforward attitude. However, this image changed a lot after An Chi returned to the country. Perhaps she was blinded by lust and always wanted to have sex with An Chi, or perhaps her opinion of An Chi had really changed. But these were all things that An Chi was willing to see. No one can be strong forever. Everyone's vulnerability will only be shown to those they trust. And all of this shows that she is worthy of Su Yao's trust.

It's the same supermarket, the same downtown single-level apartment.

Their relationship began and grew within this house. All the unpleasant memories that Su had of the past were erased, and a new chapter was filled in for her and An Chi.

The bowl of tomato and egg noodles still had an extra egg, and it was served separately to Su Yao after all the other dishes were served, steaming hot.

He pierced the whole egg with chopsticks, the yolk still intact. He would always remember that Su Yao didn't really like soft-boiled eggs; it was like a deeply ingrained memory, and he learned to eat them less often too. Su Yao submerged half an egg yolk in the red broth. The tomato on top sank down because of this action, and the falling egg white quickly blended with the white noodles after hitting the tomato. This bowl of noodles seemed to tell the story of their relationship. Every action of Su Yao changed the whole situation, and An Chi was always involved, always different.
