Early in the morning, Su Yao's forehead was covered with a layer of fine sweat. She had just returned from her morning run and was preparing to go home to make a simple breakfast.

We solved two people yesterday, so let's solve the last one today.

Unexpectedly, speak of the devil, and he appears.

An Chi stood at her door, carrying a large bag of things, the plastic bag still somewhat blurry.

"Just got back?" He reached out his other hand to help her up.

Su waved her hand, indicating that he shouldn't help her: "How did you get here? How did the security guards let you in?"

This is her private residence. Apart from various servants, there are hardly any other people around, and the security system is very strict. That's why she chose to stay here.

"Assistant Ge brought me in." The bag in An Chi's hand was heavy, and red marks were left on his fingers.

She looked at him; he had come all this way to find her, so there was no reason to turn him away. "Come in," she said. "Why isn't Ge Jin coming over?"

"Assistant Ge said he'll wait for you to come down." An Chi put on the slippers that Su Yao had taken out.

Su thought for a moment. Ge Jin had come to pick her up for work, so it was understandable that he wouldn't come in. She went up to the bedroom on the second floor and said to An Chi on the stairs, "Sit here for a while. I'm going to take a shower."

When she came out after changing her clothes, she walked towards the restaurant on the first floor. Before she even entered, she smelled a delicious aroma.

An Chi was wearing an apron, a light blue one. The cook had said she would buy her an apron to use when she cooked. An Chi had never worn this apron, as she only knew how to make simple breakfasts. Now, however, she was wearing it.

"Sit for a while, the noodles will be ready soon." He acted as if he were the master of the house.

She laughed and said, "You, a top student, are cooking for me here? I'd think you were my kept man."

An Chi turned around, untied his apron behind his back, took it off, and put it back in its original place: "Do you joke like this with everyone?"

There was a hint of anger on his face, but Su ignored him and glanced at the tomato and egg noodles in her bowl: "I didn't go on a business trip."

"I just got back from abroad, Su Yao, don't tell me you forgot." Today, An Chi seemed to be on edge, radiating unhappiness.

Su wanted to ignore it, but she didn't want to face someone who was giving her a sour look: "Then why don't you just stay home and do your own thing? What are you doing here?"

"I want to eat with you." He said this without any hint of anger.

The two sat down at the table. Su wanted to eat slowly, so An Chi ate slowly according to her appetite.

She noticed, "If you want to eat quickly, then eat quickly."

“Su Yao, I said, I want to eat with you.” He looked at her earnestly, as if a meal could erase all traces of their broken promises over the past four years.

Su felt a little intimidated by the sudden gaze, but she understood that these were things she had to face: "An Chi, you're all grown up now, you can see more..."

Before she could finish speaking, An Chi picked up a whole egg from his bowl and gave it to her.

Without saying a word, a single gesture is enough to shut her up.

"What do you mean?" Su looked at the perfectly intact egg. "I don't want to eat a soft-boiled egg."

She mistakenly thought that An Chi wanted her to shut up, so he gave her his soft-boiled egg.

“It’s not soft-boiled.” He didn’t answer the first question, but instead refuted the second affirmative statement.

An Chi likes soft-boiled eggs, but Su Yao doesn't. Every time she eats an egg, she always wants the yolk to be fully cooked.

But their agreement was that she would get an extra egg when she came back from outside.

So he never intended to eat the extra eggs himself, but rather to cook them fully cooked specifically for her.

"Don't... think that if you give me an extra egg, I'll soften my heart..." Su wanted to say something harsh, but she couldn't continue.

Because he was looking at her.

“Su Yao, I’m giving you this egg just to tell you that I never wanted to go abroad. I only wanted to stay by your side. For the past four years, I’ve just thought of it as a long-term job. I don’t care anymore. Can you please not abandon me? Raise me as a child or a pet, it’s fine. I don’t want to leave you again.” He opened and closed his lips, and his words were short but powerful, but to Su Yao’s ears they sounded long and grating.

She didn't know how to answer him.

He likes to retaliate in kind, and he held a grudge against Bai Lutong for what he did back then, so he returned the favor one by one.

I like to repay kindness. Ge Jin has been with me for so long, and I will always cherish his kindness and cannot change it easily.

Anchi is different.

I have both a grudge and a favor to him.

Su forced himself to calm down: "An Chi, I sent you abroad four years ago, paved the way for you, and protected you from being used by the Su family and Bai Lutong. I never told you any of this. Today I'm telling you, the resources I gave you after I lied to you four years ago are enough for us to settle things. I don't want the people I've trained to be someone else's cats and dogs. If you want to stay by my side, you have to show me your value, instead of begging and pleading. This will only make me feel like my money is going down the drain."

As she spoke, she suddenly became excited and didn't even realize that she had actually stood up.

An Chi just watched her like that. When she was sitting, he looked directly at her; when she was standing, he looked up at her, keeping quiet and not interrupting.

After saying that, Su Yao belatedly realized that she had been too excited and felt a little embarrassed. Her eyes were a little nervous. She swallowed and prepared to find an excuse to run away.

An Chi reached out and took her hand, which was resting on the table: "Sit down first and eat properly."

He has changed so much in the past four years.

These words would have driven him crazy and made him angry four years ago, but now he can calmly listen to her and tell her to eat first.

Su Yao, who had just sat down, also found the food tasteless and simply told him that he was done eating and had to go to work.

She quickly cleared the dishes; there was no maid to help her, and the servants, as she requested, would not appear before she went to work.

"Just leave it there, I'll tidy it up." He watched her movements.

Since An Chi has spoken, Su Yao will leave it there untouched.

When she went out, she always felt like there was a pair of eyes watching her from behind, which made Su want to leave even more.

Just before she fled, he called out to her, "Su Yao, I only want to be your kitten or puppy, I won't be anyone else's. I will show you my worth."

Su Yao thought he had thought things through and wouldn't bother her anymore, but it turned out he was telling her he wouldn't be someone else's pet. Su Yao suddenly felt that adopting him back then was a mistake.

But when he spoke up, Su wanted to give him a chance to prove his abilities, since she couldn't let her training of him go to waste: "Okay."

After answering him, Su Yao went to the parking garage to find Ge Jin.

The first thing he said after getting in the car was, "Don't let him come here again. He... he's a... madman."

Unable to find a good word, Su could only blurt out the only word that came to mind in a fit of anger.

Ge Jin didn't understand what had happened. In the morning, An Chi had only told him that he was delivering some food to Su Yao. Ge Jin replied, half-doubting, "I understand, President Su."

Why were the other two so easy to get rid of, but An Chi was such a hassle? Su Yao could only attribute it to his youth and lack of experience.

It's raining again, and this time it's much stronger, with a sudden downpour.

"The Jiangnan region should be entering the plum rain season by now," she said to herself.

Ge Jin was an honest man, and replied, "Yes."

"Ge Jin, what do you like about me?" Su Yao asked curiously. If yesterday's curiosity was just to avoid awkwardness between them, today's curiosity was genuine.

Ge Jin watched the windshield wipers move from one end of the car window to the other: "Because you, President Su, are beautiful, capable, and very charming... there are too many to list."

"But there are too many people like this in the world, and Jing Si is also a woman like this."

"Mr. Xu, your feelings are different."

"How are we different? Everyone says we look alike."

"she……"

"Go ahead and say it. Didn't I tell you yesterday that you can say whatever you want?"

"Her family background is very good and full of idealism, but you will never be trapped in the cage of idealism; you belong to realism."

"You've given idealism a derogatory connotation, Ge Jin." She understood that as a subordinate, she could never speak ill of her superior, especially since Ge Jin had confessed his feelings to her.

He didn't know how to start a conversation; he felt that nothing he said would be appropriate.

"It's one thing for it to rain in the south, but why is it raining so heavily in the north too?" she asked, not expecting any answer, or perhaps she already had the answer.

After entering the company, Tang Pai was called in by Su Yao, who asked, "How was Ge Jin's work today?"

As the boss, Su Yao still cares about her colleagues. At least she can't let Ge Jin give up his job because of her refusal. She can't find another person to replace him right now. In fact, she and Ge Jin have been working together for so long that they have developed a habit, which is sometimes even better than Tang Pai's.

"It's all good. Assistant Ge said you weren't in a good mood today, so he told us not to upset you." Tang Pai tidied up the documents beside him, muttering to himself, "But President Su, you and Assistant Ge were acting strange today, it just felt off."

She leaned towards Tang Pai and asked, "Something seems off?"

"Normally when you come in, Assistant Ge will follow you into your office, set up the air conditioner, coffee, and so on for you before going back to his own office to put his bag away. But today he went to put his bag away first. And you never ask Assistant Ge how he is doing. What happened between you two?" Tang Pai looked like he had just heard the gossip.

"Don't talk nonsense, nothing happened between us." Su Yao looked at her beaming face and gently patted her hand. "When did you start joking around?"

"I learned it from you," Tang Pai said with a grin.

Tang Pai even sprayed water on the pothos plants in the office. Su Yao was reminded by her that Ge Jin had been doing these things before. She asked, "Pai Pai, why are you doing so much?"

"Assistant Ge instructed me to do this. He said you like me more today, so it's good that he's not showing up as much." Tang Pai slowly imitated Ge Jin's usual actions. It was her first time doing this, so she was a little slow in order to be careful. She didn't mean anything by it. "Before you came to me, President Su, Assistant Ge gave me a lot of instructions. He cares about you so much that I almost think he likes you, President Su."

Su, taking a sip of water, interrupted Tang Pai's actions, saying, "Um, you'd better not do this. It's too slow. Go outside and let Ge come in to do it. As for liking you or him, I treat everyone equally at work."

The water in the glass was finished by accident. Su pushed it out the door and looked at Tang Pai, who was about to leave with a smile: "That's right, I knew it. President Su, you're the best. I'm going to do other work. How can you be so biased? I'll go find Assistant Ge."

Looking back, she saw that the water glass was still empty, and she suddenly sighed.

It was all too convenient. Su wanted to follow Ge Jin's habit of taking care of her, thinking that as soon as she put down the water glass, she could wait for the next glass of water or coffee to be filled.

He held a cup in one hand, his index and middle fingers calloused from years of writing, resting on the center of the cup. His name tag tapped against the table, making a sound and wobbling. In the photo, he had a serious expression, thin gold-rimmed glasses, a black suit, and a dark blue striped tie. He was a naive young man who had just joined Su's company.

Ge Jin never changed this photo, and Su followed his wishes without asking why.

Today he wore a dark green tie, which matched his black suit well, and he hadn't changed his gold-rimmed glasses.

"Coffee with milk?" Ge Jin picked up the cup and asked her seriously, "Assistant Tang said you asked me to come in and tidy up these things, aren't you angry with me?"

"Okay, what's there to be angry about? Do you think I'm that petty?" Su Yao looked at his somewhat awkward behavior. She hadn't noticed it when he was driving this morning, but now it was so obvious.

He quickly retorted, "No, I'm just being petty."

"Hey, hey, I didn't say that." Su looked at the documents Tang Pai had just placed on the table.

Ge Jin's lips curled up slightly. It had been a long time since he had spoken to Su Yao like this. It felt like he could express his thoughts and that being rejected wasn't so bad.

"I just checked, the water spray on the pothos is working well, and the rest of the place is tidied up nicely. I don't need to do anything else. Just let me know if you need anything." Ge Jin placed the coffee next to her and adjusted his glasses.

Su looked at him and said, "I need to talk to you right now."

"What's up?"

"Don't avoid me anymore. Aren't we good partners who dominate the business world?" Su Yao gave a big smile to express his friendliness.

"Fine, good partner, give me a break." Ge Jin took away the documents she had just signed, showing her no mercy whatsoever. "Who wants to be your good partner?"

Su felt that the road to comforting her colleagues was long and arduous.
