Need

Need

He was originally invited to watch the game at the last minute. The venue was a place he frequented. Sido had invested in a club, so he was invited to watch the game.

Sitting in the stands, An Chi watched the traffic conditions on the monitor and mentally calculated the trajectory.

But the biggest problem arose: one of the contestants had an accident and couldn't get to the venue. Sido had a bet with someone on the competition, and when he heard about it, he yelled at Anchi, "Damn it, are you telling me you're going to make me lose?!"

An Chi watched as a chubby boy was being scolded by Sido. He was Chinese, and Sido had told him this the first time An Chi arrived in the place. He was the manager of the entire club, but being called a manager was just a way to take the blame for others.

An Chi wanted to ignore it, but a man shouldn't be insulted like that, and the contestant's problems shouldn't involve others. Just wanting to lend a hand, An Chi said, "I can give it a try."

Actually, before Anchi said those words, Sido wanted to go on the course. But there was no way, since none of the people present had ever played on this road condition before and couldn't take the risk. The only ones who could go on the course were him and Anchi.

Anchi was his guest, so Sido naturally couldn't bring himself to ask for help. However, if he were to step in, the bets with others would be void, and there was a possibility of trouble if they couldn't reach an agreement. So Sido vented his anger on the only club staff member present who had no ability whatsoever.

Fortunately, An Chi spoke up himself.

The man and Sido looked at An Chi as if he were a lifeline. An Chi didn't say much, speaking his mother tongue to the Chinese man. He hadn't spoken Mandarin in a long time, and the first thing he wanted to say when he opened his mouth was "Su Yao." But he paused, carefully choosing his tone: "Could you go get my racing suit? It's in Sido's car."

"Okay, okay." The man nodded vigorously and ran away.

Sido could tell that An Chi was actually unwilling to go on stage, but was only doing it to help the man out of a difficult situation. "You shouldn't do this, An. You should follow your heart. However, I really should thank you."

“It’s alright.” He was both expressing his gratitude to Sido humbly and responding to Sido’s opinion that he shouldn’t push himself, a double entendre.

An Chi never regrets what he decides to do, nor does he feel troubled. It's one thing to be unwilling in one's heart, but it's another to take action.

When the man brought the clothes up, Sido was discussing the incident with the person he was betting against, while Anchi was seriously recalling the route he had experienced during his previous races. It was clear that he could not go on the track to practice at this point in time.

"Thank you for earlier, Mr. An." The man handed over the clothes, his forehead beaded with sweat. An Chi took the clothes, looked at him, and handed him the tissues he had on him. "Thank you, thank you, Mr. An."

"Just call me An Chi," he reminded him.

"Okay, you can just call me Xiao Bao." The man smiled broadly, showing no trace of the embarrassment he had just been scolded. "I'll bring the crew to see you later."

"Okay." It was really just a bit of fun between clubs, and An Chi, who didn't expect it to be taken too seriously, was still a little surprised when he heard the navigator's voice.

Sido returned from the negotiations with a beaming smile, patted An Chi on the shoulder, and said, "Don't worry too much, An. Go wherever you want, they won't do anything to you."

An Chi smiled and waited without giving any answer. These were not things he should be thinking about. He just wanted to finish this trip, because what he thought was a "need" was once again "cut short" despite everything going smoothly.

Before he went on the course, his navigator told him, "Sido said you've done this course before, and you're a newbie, so just have fun and don't worry about me."

The navigator almost casually confirmed Anchi's "last place".

An Chi didn't say much, but simply got into the driver's seat.

Before driving, he didn't want to prove anything; he even had a "let's just get by" mentality. It wasn't a competition that belonged to him, so there was no need to fight for it.

However, the navigator's attitude annoyed him, but he didn't give up. He simply took to the field with the attitude that he was willing to run well.

Focusing on himself was not difficult for An Chi. He ran the entire race seriously and, to everyone's surprise, won the bronze medal.

Even An Chi himself didn't expect that when he stood on the podium, his navigator didn't go up like the others. Instead, he gave him the first hug as he stepped off the stage and apologized in a way that only they could hear. An Chi lowered his eyes and realized that he had achieved this result even without anyone else's help. This might not be a result that allowed him to stand shoulder to shoulder with Su Yao, but as he looked at the medal and felt the hugs from Xiao Bao and Sido, he found his own destiny: the strength that destined him to stand shoulder to shoulder with Su Yao. Even if he wasn't the one standing shoulder to shoulder with Su Yao in the end, he could still gain self-worth and self-improvement.

It was because of this battle that Anchi obtained the first capital to start his business. It was the money Sido won from his successful bet. Sido regarded Anchi as his greatest help, so he also shared his winnings with Anchi.

Having found his own destiny, An Chi began to do things that brought him closer to Su.

Previously, Su Yao had given An Chi some funds and foundation in order to cultivate him. However, after the incident of going abroad caused the two to become estranged, Su Yao changed his path. He changed the international finance he was supposed to study to the science he wanted to study. Looking back on this, he realized that Su Yao did not care about him at all, but treated him as a pet that could be abandoned at any time.

So as he gradually came into contact with finance, he was already preparing to return to China to study.

When Sido approached him to discuss collaboration, he originally intended for him to join his team as a core technical staff member. Unexpectedly, Sido himself proposed to be the person in charge of operations. Sido exclaimed, "This will definitely bury your talent, An!"

"No, I will definitely go back to China in the future, Sido. I don't want my personal reasons to affect the project team."

“Oh, well,” Sido said regretfully.

Anchi and Sido became business partners.

In his junior year, Anchi had already paved the way for his return to China, and all that was left was to discuss the company's relocation within the country with Sido.

He was going back to China, so he couldn't keep an eye on his overseas businesses. That's why he was discussing branch office matters with Sido.

Sido actually disagreed with this: "I don't think this is a good thing, you know, Anne, we're not stable yet, we shouldn't make any big moves."

“How will you know if you don’t try? We’re bound to make mistakes, Sido. What we need most right now is investment, so we should expand our brand awareness.” An Chi argued with him, waving his hands incessantly as he negotiated, his emotions running high.

"An, why are you so sure that someone will invest in you if you go back to China?" Sido asked, expressing his confusion.

An Chi didn't answer. Su Yao's back appeared in his mind. He heard that after Bai Lutong took over the Su family, she started her own investment company. But according to her wary logic, she would never invest in herself. He paused, "I am very confident in myself."

His answer actually made Sido waver a little. "Let me think about it, Anne."

An Chi expressed his understanding.

When he met Sido again later, he encountered a little girl clutching a mint at the school gate.

True ripples are not caused by the falling of pebbles or the skimming of dragonflies, but by a gentle breeze that ripples across the water's surface, even when nothing passes by or touches it.

Is that wind-driven?

Is that water movement?

No.

That was love at first sight.

At that moment, An Chi admitted that he still hadn't let go of Su Yao's influence, and even said that without Su Yao, he wouldn't have achieved what he has today.

He met Lucas, met Sido, learned guitar, learned racing, and learned how to handle all kinds of tricky projects. All of these seemed so different, but they all had one thing in common: without Sue, none of these things could be done.

When he first entered university, An Chi always thought that Su Yao needed him to be her pet. But looking back, he realized that he had needed Su Yao far too much. She chose different ways to raise him, and she never let him down.

Now, he genuinely wants to be one of Su's pets, but he doesn't know if he'll even be on the waiting list.

He smiled to himself.

Sido came to him because he had figured things out and wanted Anchi to give the company a Chinese name.

An Chi thought for a moment, "Let's call it 'Want'."

"Yao? What does that mean?"

"need."

After everything was settled, An Chi was still restricted by Sido. He gave the order that if he did not receive investment within six months, he would no longer provide An Chi with any resources. An Chi did not think much of it and agreed.

So when he really failed to secure investment from several companies, An Chi desperately sought out Su Yao, only to be rejected as expected. Fortunately, a company eventually saved him, and he was finally able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Su Yao, the ending he had always dreamed of.

"What are you thinking about?" Su asked, looking at him.

An Chi tilted his head and smiled slightly, "I was wondering what would have happened if I hadn't returned to China?"

His expression made it impossible for her to tell if he was being genuine or not, so Su Yao went along with him and said, "Do whatever you want. It's not like I can't afford to support your studies abroad, and you don't need me to spend money on you anymore. You're pretty amazing, kid."

"And what about you? Are you with Bai Lutong, Ge Jin, or some rich kid?"

Su Yao curled her lips, took two quick steps ahead of him, and turned around. "Are you stupid, An Chi? If I really wanted to be with them, why wouldn't I be with them right after you went abroad? Why wait until you graduate? You don't have that much face yet."

She was stating an undeniable fact; she was never influenced by anyone, and she herself was not powerful enough to control Su Yao.

But it was precisely this frustrating truth that made him feel exceptionally good. "Then I should work harder and try to catch President Su's eye."

Looking at An Chi, who had his eyebrows lowered and a sneer on his face, Su Yao simply scoffed.

An Chi received a message on his phone from his mentor, inviting them to dinner.

An Chi took two steps forward, grabbed Su Yao's hand, and said, "Let's go eat."

Su Yao followed him without finding it strange, as if it were a habit.
