Su was scheduled to return from Canada two weeks later. The contract was extremely difficult, and she had been struggling with it for a long time.

"Are we going to Royal Bay today, President Su?" Assistant Ge asked, while transferring files on her tablet.

Su lowered her head and asked in a deep voice, "Who did this proofreading?"

Assistant Ge sensed something was amiss and said, "I'll go contact them."

“If there’s a next time, Ge Jin, let Tang Pai come with me on the business trip.”

Without saying a word, Su Yao's face darkened. She was already very alluring and seductive, but with a look of gloom on her face, she looked like a hungry wolf pouncing on its prey in the dead of winter.

"Go to the apartment downtown," she instructed, while her hands remained busy with their own tasks.

In the evening, Su arrived at the apartment, and the moment she opened the door, there was mostly silence.

Aunt Hong was on holiday and had gone home for the past few days, so when the door opened, no one came to greet Su Yao.

Su had no choice but to take off her shoes, take out slippers from the shoe cabinet, and put them on by herself.

An Chi saw this scene when he stepped out of the room.

A woman was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with a simple logo on the left side, a brand he had seen on his phone before. She wore black suit pants with a flowing, icy silk texture and black high heels. The soles of the shoes were revealed when she lifted them, revealing bright red soles.

The woman held onto the shoe counter with one hand and took off her high heels with the other.

His hair fell naturally to the side of his head from time to time. Except for a few stray hairs, all the hair on his right side was neatly gathered behind his ear. The diamond on his ear, whether real or fake, sparkled in the light. It was very large, a carat size that An Chi had never seen before in his life. In his memory, such diamonds were always set in diamond rings.

He was stunned by her beauty; the woman who had sounded so decisive and efficient on the phone was actually incredibly beautiful.

Su looked up and saw An Chi standing at the door of her room.

Unlike the first time I met him, he was not in an awkward situation. He was wearing a clean dark blue shirt and dark blue jeans. However, his hair was a bit long.

"You must be An Chi. Hello, I'm Su Yao." Su Yao smiled brightly and generously, extending her right hand in a handshake gesture.

An Chi extended his hand and placed it against her fair hand, feeling a little inferior. "Yes, hello."

"Are you getting used to living here?" Su let go of her hand, turned around and went to the bar, poured herself a glass of water, sat on a bar stool, took a sip of water, and her hair on the right side had already moved from behind her ear to in front of her ear as she walked, the black hair covering most of her face, only her high and straight nose stood out and was alluring.

Before An Chi could answer, Xiao Bai, the robot that was charging, came out to greet Su Yao.

"Xiao Yao, Xiao Yao, Xiao Yao! You're back! Welcome home!" The electronic screen displayed a smiling face, exceptionally lively and cheerful. Even An Chi, who had lived there for a long time, had never seen such a smile before.

The glass of water made a crisp sound as it hit the marble counter. One foot stepped off the bar stool, stabilizing the body which had tilted slightly to one side.

"Yes, Xiaobai, I'm back." Su smiled, but not like before. This time, even the curve of her lips was barely visible.

"Will you leave again this time, Xiao Yao?" Xiao Bai was still asking Su Yao all sorts of questions.

But the woman who rose directly from the bar stool walked toward the sofa, and as she passed him, she turned her head and nodded at him, "Why won't you answer me? Am I too beautiful to be heard?"

His tone left no room for argument. Indeed, if he were Su Wenxie, he wouldn't utter a single word of rebuttal to Su Yao, let alone how much Su Wenxie disliked his so-called adopted son.

However, An Chi was indeed looking at Su Yao. His gaze, which he usually perceived as indifferent, was bluntly seen through by Su Yao's words. She wasn't simple; so why would she adopt him and pay such a large sum for her family's expenses? Kindness? She didn't seem like that kind of person. Was she using him? He wasn't worth it.

An Chi heard his own voice, "It's a habit. Aunt Hong and Brother Wenxie are both very good to me."

"Heh, really? Spend less time with Su Wenxie in the future." Su Yao seemed dismissive, but her smile was noticeably deeper than before. She rubbed her temples. "I'll take you to complete the transfer procedures tomorrow. Go back to your room and get some rest."

Just as she entered, there was another knock on the door. "I want to discuss something with you," Su Yao's voice came from the doorway. "May I come in?"

An Chi's eyes flickered. Respect is extremely important to a person. This was Su Yao's place, and she could come and go as she pleased, but she still gave him enough respect, which showed that her attitude was commensurate with her status. "Please come in." He tried to use more refined language when speaking, which was the only way he could think of to avoid embarrassing Su Yao.

“I hope you can have the surname Su until you come of age, but you can still be called An Chi. You can change your surname at any time after you come of age, is that okay?” Su said as she opened the door. Her tone was questioning, but An Chi knew she couldn’t refuse.

"Okay." He stood up to greet Su Yao.

The fair hand reached out again. "Let's get to know each other again. Su Anchi, I'm Su Yao." The woman's face once again showed the smile she had when they first met. It was like a scarf knitted by her mother, warm to the touch, and the smile itself felt strangely warm.

"Hello, Su Yao, I am Su Anchi."

Su was the first to let go. "Then... do we need to change the name tomorrow?" Su Anchi stared at the woman in front of him, his thoughts and words completely unrelated.

“No need. Since I adopted you, I took care of all that when I did. But I’ll take you to get a new citizen card and ID card tomorrow.” Su leaned against the wall, twisted her neck, and curled one corner of her mouth into a smile.

"How old are you?" Su Anchi finally asked the question that was on his mind, but his hands kept twisting his clothes behind his back.

Su suppressed her smile and pretended to be serious, "You know what? You should never ask a woman's age."

The boy swallowed hard, looking into those deep and alluring eyes, "No...no..."

Laughter interrupted his answer. "Just kidding. You're quite funny too. But little friend, you've been here for so long and you still don't know your ID card? Can't you use your citizen card? I was worried about what you would do, but you seem to be adapting quite well."

Su Anchi tilted her head to the side, her cheeks flushed pink.

“28, you can call me sister or call me mom as it’s on the household registration.” Su Yao tossed her hair, lightly touched Su Anchi’s chin with one finger, lifted it up, and looked into each other’s eyes. “So easily teased. I won’t tease you anymore. Aunt Hong isn’t here recently. If you need anything, come to me. You can also come to Xiaobai, but it can be a bit of an artificial idiot sometimes.”

After saying that, the woman scratched Su Anchi's chin like she was coaxing a kitten, "Let's go, I'll tell you after we eat."

“Um…” Su Anchi’s face was so red that it was unbearable to look at.

The woman quickly turned her head. "Hmm?"

"How can I contact you?" The voice trailed off, sounding like fear or perhaps inferiority.

Su rubbed her hair. "Yeah, how about we add each other on WeChat?"

"good."

When it was almost time to eat, Su Anchi went out on his own.

The setting sun cast its rays on the balcony. The woman had changed her clothes and was now wearing a slip dress. Her hair was tied up, and her fair back was faintly visible. The sunlight shone on her profile, making her stunning features mesmerizing. She was on the phone, talking incessantly. When she saw Su Anchi come out of the room, she raised her other empty hand and waved to him through the glass door as a greeting.

The afterglow reflected on the glass door, creating a scene that was both dim and bright, a feeling that made Su Anchi's heart pound faster and faster.

Boys at this age are most prone to having wild fantasies, but clearly, given Su Yao's personality, he only regarded Su Anchi as a child.

This is Su Anchi's third heart palpitation today.

After hanging up the phone, Su Anchi didn't move. He didn't know what expression or gesture to make, nor how to respond to the greeting.

But Su didn't care about any of that. She opened the balcony door, went inside, and laughed, "You little rascal, why are you just standing there like an idiot? Since we invited you out to eat, you should just go to the table."

As she walked to the dining table, Su Yao muttered to herself, "So silly, could her grades be fake?"

Hearing this, Su Anchi became a little anxious. He quickly walked to Su Yao's side, but without paying attention to the distance between them, he blurted out, "No, the grades are real, I just wanted to..."

She stopped talking there. Su turned her head, her fine hair falling down to partially obscure her face, but it couldn't hide her fox-like eyes, which were as alluring as if they had possessed a soul.

Su Anchi couldn't help but wonder, was the "yao" in Su Yao really not the "yao" in "yaojing" (妖精, meaning demon)?

Seeing that the person in front of her didn't speak, Su raised an eyebrow. "Have you lost your voice again? What do you want?"

"I want to wait for you to eat together."

"Then sit down quickly, don't just stand there like an idiot."

The food was delivered by someone, and Su opened each lunchbox one by one; the food was still steaming.

It's clear that Su Yao is very busy; she's eating while also replying to messages.

He boldly stated, "Not eating properly will be bad for your health."

The woman sitting opposite him glanced at him sideways, and that one glance made him feel timid. That glance seemed to say, "Who are you to dare to interfere with me?"

"It was my fault, but I'm a bit busy right now. Why don't you eat first, and I'll eat by myself when I'm done with my work?"

Unexpectedly, Su took the initiative to admit her mistake, and then she began to reduce the frequency of using her phone and started eating seriously.

The two people ate without speaking.

As they were almost finished eating, Su Yao swallowed the last bite of food and looked at Su Anchi, who was already waiting for her. "Did you enjoy the food?"

“Sure,” he added, as if afraid the person he was talking to would think he was just being perfunctory. “It’s delicious.”

With a couple of hums, Su Yao looked at the boy who seemed at a loss since she entered the room, recalling the taciturn person Su Wenxie had mentioned. However, she still spoke of the same old story, "Before Aunt Hong returned, I had my assistant deliver this restaurant over?"

"If... you don't mind, I can cook." Since Su Anchi had the courage to say the first sentence, saying the second one wasn't too difficult.

Su rested her chin on her hand, pretending to think, "Hmm... what would you make? If it doesn't taste good, I won't eat it."

He had assumed it would be either a refusal or an agreement, but he hadn't expected this response. A little flustered, he said, "I... I can cook some... simple dishes, that should be fine."

"You're such a tease, I don't care what I cook. If you don't find it troublesome, you can make it every day." Su Yao seemed to have found amusement and always wanted to tease him.

He was somewhat at a loss, and hesitant to speak, unable to figure out what kind of person Su Yao really was.

In this world, as a stranger, he would only encounter two kinds of people: those who despise him and those who pity him.

Su Wenxie was one of those who despised him.

Logically speaking, those who adopted and helped him should pity him, or at most, love him.

His tragic background, resilient character, and sensible attitude will only add to his endearing qualities.

But Su Yao seemed to genuinely treat him like an ordinary family's child, showing no discrimination or pity, and even finding pleasure in teasing him.

"Then I'll clean up." Su Anchi took on the task of tidying up the table.

Su clicked her tongue in dissatisfaction and tugged at her eyebrows, which curved like her eyes. "When Aunt Hong was around, did you also like to take on this much work?"

Hearing the tone of her voice, his heart clenched. Was she really like Su Wenxie?

"No, Aunt Hong won't let me do it," he answered honestly.

The woman stood up and pulled Su Anchi's bent-over waist up, saying, "Then you don't need to clean up. Since you don't have to do it, then don't do it at all."

"Then this..." Before he could finish asking, he heard Su say, "Xiao Bai! Come and tidy up."

The robot, which had just been in the room, came out excitedly, stood by the dining table, suddenly raised its base, extended its unusual wings, and began to tidy up.

He had never seen Xiaobai in this form before.

"Next time, you should persuade Aunt Hong not to clean up either. It's so easy," Su Yao said with a smile as she turned around, who was about to walk into the house.

She is truly different from others.

Su Anchi lowered his eyes, and only after the person left did he slowly raise his head to look at the closed door.
