Chapter 142 Three Districts and One Change

Chapter 142 Three Districts and One Change

After acquiring all the land along the Great Lakes region, these new lands needed to be divided into new administrative districts to facilitate management and statistical data.

Including the northern part of Kenya, which was still in a state of temporary lack of administrative divisions.

This time, due to the expansion of the Northwest War, the land west of Lake Turkana in the town of Omorate also fell into the hands of East Africa.

Previously, East African colonies had no power presence on the western shore of Lake Turkana, and Lake Turkana itself was a natural barrier that hindered East African expansion.

Moreover, the south was separated by the Buganda Kingdom and many tribes at that time, and it was difficult for the western Kenya region to develop westwards.

Now, the coasts of the Great Lakes fell into the hands of the East African colonies, which took advantage of the situation to take over the land west of Lake Turkana all the way to Lake Frederick (Lake Albert).

Since the climate in many areas west of Lake Turkana is similar to that in northern Kenya, it is relatively dry and water-scarce and not suitable for agricultural cultivation.

Therefore, the arid land west of Lake Turkana and northern Kenya are considered to be the same area. In fact, this place also belonged to northern Kenya in the past, but at this time, East Africa occupied this area later than the east.

There are many seasonal rivers in this area, which can be seen as a unique feature of the area.

In addition, in the entire northern part of the East African colony, only the Omo River Basin on the northern shore of Lake Turkana was suitable for large-scale agricultural cultivation. Ernst simply established the entire northern Kenya and the Omo River Basin as the Northern Region.

The capital is located in the town of Omorate. Due to the dry climate in the north and many places being pastoral areas, the population will definitely not be too large, so it doesn’t matter if the area is a bit larger.

In this way, the largest administrative region in East Africa was born. The northern region reached more than 300,000 square kilometers and bordered Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia in the previous life.

Earlier this year, when East Africa annexed the Omo River Basin, the East African colonies easily occupied this area because the Abyssinian Empire was being beaten by the British.

During the colonial era, many countries did not have detailed borders, but rather spheres of influence. For example, the tribes in northern East Africa were theoretically similar to vassals of the major North African powers.

Therefore, their overlord had reason to protect these tribes. The Omo River basin was a group of black tribes, some of which were subject to the Abyssinian Empire and some were independent.

The East African colonies took over the land while the Abyssinian Empire was busy dealing with the British and had no time to take care of its own brothers.

After the war between the Abyssinian Empire and Britain ended, the Abyssinian Empire has now triggered a political crisis. The country is in chaos and all forces are busy fighting for the throne, so they have no interest in the lives of their younger brothers in the south.

After the establishment of the town of Omorate, East Africa drove all the indigenous people in the area to the west. In addition, the indigenous people in northern Kenya were previously packed up and sent to the south for development by East Africa. Currently, the only pure black indigenous forces in northern East Africa are the indigenous people in the Somalia region.

The Sahara Desert is a racial dividing line. Most people to the north of the desert, including the desert area, are white, while those to the south of the Sahara Desert and the edge of the southern desert are black.

Many black people in Somalia are influenced by Arab culture, so their living habits are no different from those of Arabs. This is also the reason why they can adapt to the desert climate and survive.

Other areas, such as northern Ethiopia, are mainly white and mixed-race. Now East Africa has driven out all the blacks in southern Ethiopia. Without the injection of fresh blood, Ethiopia will only become whiter and whiter in the future.

Because Ethiopians in their previous lives considered themselves to be tanned white people, and because East Africa will definitely eliminate the purely black forces around it in the future, Ethiopia will definitely only be able to deal with other races other than blacks in the future.

In addition, the people in northern Ethiopia have light skin to begin with, and in a few hundred years, their skin color may become similar to that of Indians.

Ernst never believed that Indians were white. Their indigenous people were more brown and black in color. It was the continuous invasion of white people from the north that gradually made Indians look somewhat like white people.

This is similar to Ethiopians, but Ethiopians are closer to black people after all, so they retain more black genetic characteristics.

If Ernst cuts off Ethiopia's future contact with pure black people, he can avoid the blackening of northeastern North Africa.

Maintaining the numerical advantage of the white race in northeastern North Africa will ensure that northern East Africa will not be darkened in the future.

The population of the newly established Northern Region is mainly concentrated in the Omo River Basin in the northwest. Especially during the war, a large number of immigrants entered the Omo River Basin. The Omo River Basin is mainly engaged in crop production, while other places in the Northern Region are mainly developed in animal husbandry.

Generally speaking, animal husbandry can support a relatively small population, so there are not many people in the grazing areas planned in the northern region.

The development of animal husbandry in some areas is actually forced. For example, in areas where crop production is the main industry, if they are not developed, the water and grass will be more abundant. Generally speaking, the climate environment in areas where animal husbandry is developed is not suitable for the development of crop production.

In addition to the newly established Northern Region, near the Great Lakes (Lake Victoria), Ernst followed the experience of establishing the Great Lakes Region and Western Kenya Region.

Two administrative districts were established in the newly occupied areas, whose scopes happened to be the areas of the original four southern countries and the four northern countries.

However, the four southern countries are relatively small in area, so they need to be extended slightly to the north, with Lake Friedrichshain (Lake Albert) as the boundary.

The Western Great Lakes Region was established by adding the area where the four southern countries are located and the land between the southern shore of Lake Frederick (Lake Albert), with its capital in Bujumbura on the northern shore of Lake Solon (Lake Tanganyika).

The area of the four northern countries was established as the Northern Great Lakes Region, which also included many lands in the northwest.

The capital is located in Kampala, an excellent port in the north of the Great Lake (Lake Victoria).

The original Great Lakes region (Mwanza) is no longer appropriately called this name, as East Africa previously consisted of only part of the Great Lakes (Lake Victoria).

In addition, this area was developed early, so it doesn’t matter if it is called the Great Lakes Region. Now the entire Great Lake (Lake Victoria) has become an inland lake in East Africa.

The Great Lakes Region can no longer be used to refer specifically to the region centered on Mwanza, so in order to distinguish it, the original Great Lakes Region was renamed the Eastern Great Lakes Region. Except for the name, everything else remains unchanged.

In the future, when we talk about the Great Lakes region, it will be a geographical concept, referring to the Great Lake (Lake Victoria) and all the land along its coast.

Three new districts were established this time, namely the Northern District, the Northern Great Lakes District, and the Western Great Lakes District. The original Great Lakes District was renamed the Eastern Great Lakes District.
