Chapter 232: District Establishment
After discussion, the top leaders of the East African Kingdom decided to set up provinces in the East African Kingdom in imitation of Europe, and the original regions were no longer mentioned.
The kingdom's administrative regions were divided according to factors such as terrain, economy, environment, and national defense needs, and finally a rough map was made.
"Somalia's northern province should draw its border along the river," one official suggested.
"Well! That won't do. It's better to cross the river in this province."
As he spoke, Felix took a pen and drew a line between the Juba River and the Shabelle River.
"In this way, the entire Shabelle River basin, that is, the oases along the river bank, can provide military rations for the north without having to dispatch them from the south. The productivity of the land north of the Shabelle River alone is definitely not enough."
"Well, that makes sense, next one," King Constantine said.
“Will the provincial capital be Mogadishu?”
"Mogadishu is close to the sea, and its geographical location is very dangerous. It is also too far inland. It is definitely not a good choice for the provincial capital. Beledweyne on the south bank of the Shabelle River is a good choice."
"I have no objection to Beledweyne being the provincial capital, but a separate military town should be set up in the northwest to deal with potential threats in the northwest corner. Both Mogadishu and Beledweyne are too far away from here."
"Then let's choose Dire Dawa Village! This location is right at the northern foot of the mountain and is also a key military location."
"agree."
“How to choose the capital of the Juba River Basin Province?”
"Like the Northern Province, there is a port and an inland city as the provincial capital. Although Kismayo is more economically developed, it is too far east like Mogadishu and cannot radiate inland."
"Then choose Baidabo Town!"
"agree."
"I have a suggestion for the South Salzburg Province. We should concentrate the forces on Lake Malawi in Karonga Port and unify the management of the Lake Malawi area to facilitate wartime dispatch and cooperate with the army's operations. It will also help prevent the enemy from taking advantage of the Malawi Lake to go north."
"Okay, then we will also incorporate the former territory of the Kingdom of Malawi into the Southern Salzburg Province and establish a river and lake force sub-center in Karonga."
…
May 23, 1870.
After a period of discussion and analysis by the East African government, the Kingdom of East Africa finally made the following administrative adjustments:
Tropical desert climate region.
1. Turkana Province (capital: Omorate). A province with Lake Turkana as its geographical center.
2. Northern Province (Beletweyne, capital, Mogadishu port, Dire Dawa military town - to deal with British Somaliland and French Djibouti colony, as well as the Abyssinian Empire.), the northernmost province, Beledweyne is a city on the Shabelle River.
3. Juba Province (provincial capital: Baidabo, Port of Kismayo). Baidabo is a city along the Juba River, a transportation and military point.
Because of the tropical desert climate, all three provinces are large in area, but only Turkana Province has considerable arable land and water resources.
Changes to the three major regions of the original Southern Kenya region.
1. Eastern Province (with its capital in Mombasa). The former Eastern Kenya Region was expanded by adding some northern lands.
2. South Prussia Province (capital Nairobi). Formerly the Central Kenya Region.
3. Eastern Great Lakes Province (with its capital city Kisumu). Formerly the Western Kenya Region.
Changes in the original Tanzania region.
1. Coastal Province (capital: Tanga Port). Formerly the Upper Coastal District.
2. Central Province (the capital, the first town, and the two ports of Bagamoyo and Dar es Salaam) is incorporated into the original Central Coastal Area.
3. Lake Malawi Province (provincial capital: Newyuan City, Mtwara Port, Ronroda, Songea). It is formed by the merger of the former East Lake Malawi Region and the Lower Coast Region. The new provincial capital is Newyuan City between Ronroda and Songea.
4. South Salzburg Province (with Mbeya as its capital and Lake Karonga as its port, including the Katanga Plateau and the coast of Lake Malawi). Formerly the Upper Lake Malawi area, it has expanded in area and was renamed South Salzburg due to its important geographical location.
5. Plateau Province (with Dodoma as its capital), formerly the Central Plateau Region.
6. Kilimanjaro Province (with Arusha as its capital) was formerly the northern plateau region, and its capital was moved from Karatu to Arusha.
7. Southern Great Lakes Province (with Mwanza as its capital) incorporates part of the Savannah region.
8. The former Lake Sollern region of the Hohenzollern Province (capital city Kigoma) was incorporated into part of the steppe region.
The rest of the Great Lakes region is administratively nearby (almost unchanged).
1. Western Great Lakes Province (capital Bujumbura.)
2. Northern Great Lakes Province (capital Kampala.)
Western tropical rainforest region.
1. Mitumba Province (capital city: Kindu). Tropical rainforest and partly tropical savanna climate.
2. Hesse Province (capital city: Kisangani). Tropical rainforest climate.
Administrative divisions of Zambia and the Katanga Plateau region.
1. West Katanga Province (provincial capital: Lubumbashi.)
2. East Katanga Province (provincial capital: Kazembe City.)
3. Western Plateau Province (Capital Ndola.)
4. Western Province (Capital: Mongu City.)
5. Southern Frontier Province (capital Lusaka.)
6. Valonga Province (provincial capital: Bos.)
Two islands.
1. Pemba Island (New Hamburgo City.)
2. Mafia Island (Mafia City.)
Subjects:
The Sultanate of Zanzibar has a garrison.
A total of 24 provinces, 26 provincial-level administrative regions, and 1 subject country.

This time the Savannah region was divided up administratively and its capital, Tabora, was incorporated into the Southern Great Lakes Province, becoming the second largest city in the province after Mwanza.
The northwestern banks of Lake Malawi were incorporated into the Southern Salzburg Province. The provincial capital is still Mbeya, and Karonga, as a lake port, is still the second largest city. At the same time, part of the Katanga Plateau was incorporated. The Southern Salzburg Province spans the East African Plateau and the Katanga Plateau, and its status as a transportation hub has been further strengthened.
It established the unique status of the two islands of Pemba and Mafia, and clarified the vassal status of the Sultanate of Zanzibar.
The newly established Kilimanjaro Province replaced the original northern plateau area, and the capital was moved from Karatu to Arusha, which has a more geographical advantage (closer to Tanga Port and Mombasa Port, and with a more open and flat terrain).
The Lower Coastal Region was merged with the East Lake Malawi Region to form the new Lake Malawi Province, with the provincial capital located in the new city of Tunduru (formerly known as Tunduru Village) between the former Songea and Ronroda.
At the same time, some places adopted names with German characteristics, mainly including the city of New Hamburg, South Salzburg, South Prussia, Hesse, and Hohenzollern.
The special provinces set up in East Africa for national defense are mainly the South Salzburg Province, the Lake and Sea Province, and the North Province, which are mainly used to deal with other Western colonial forces, while there is no demand for them in areas bordering the indigenous people.
With this administrative division change, the East African government will establish ruling institutions in the newly occupied areas. At the same time, it will begin to differentiate these indigenous people in Zambia and other regions, exile the old, weak, sick and disabled, eliminate resistance forces through military action, and use young and strong slaves to fill the "labor" gap in the east.
