Chapter 891: M-shaped Railway
It has to be said that the use of black labor has greatly improved the quality of life of East African railway workers and reduced labor intensity to a certain extent.
Of course, in recent years, with the decrease in the number of black laborers and the increase in the country's citizen population, East African society has felt a certain amount of pressure in all walks of life except agriculture.
However, with the steady development of industrialization and the prosperity of import and export trade, East Africa has also been very active in introducing advanced production tools, trying to reduce production costs through technological means.
Taking the railway system as an example, a large number of jacks, special railway construction vehicles, better quality construction tools, etc. were purchased.
Of course, the railway system can do this because of the East African government's large investment in railways. After all, railways are one of the few important industrial sectors.
…
When the railway workers in New Frankfurt were working overtime to build the railway between New Frankfurt and Rhine City.
The "M"-shaped railway system of New Frankfurt is also taking shape, and New Frankfurt will become the first important railway hub in East Africa that reaches the whole country.
New Frankfurt Mayor Loggens said: "As early as the middle of the construction of the Central Railway, the Central Railway had already formed a 'cross' line, starting from Dar es Salaam in the east, reaching Mongu in the west, Kisan in the north, and reaching the new Hamburg Port in the south."
"And until now, with the incorporation of Angola and Mozambique, the last obstacle to railway construction has been removed, and the railway structure of our country has finally been finalized."
"Our New Frankfurt city is the central hub of the national railway network. Through eight lines, it radiates to the whole country, reaching the Azande Plateau in the north, the East African Coastal Plain and the East African Plateau in the east, the South African Plateau in the south, and Angola and Southwest Africa in the west."
"Except for Southwest Africa, all of these areas are core areas of our country's economy. Except for the Ethiopian Plateau, the main plateaus are within the radiation range of New Frankfurt via railways."
East Africa is a plateau country, and the plateau economy accounts for more than 70% of East Africa's economy. Therefore, controlling the plateau of East Africa is basically equivalent to controlling the country's economic lifeline and most of its population.
The location and transportation advantages of New Frankfurt are also reflected in this point. It is the core point connecting the major plateau areas in East Africa except the Ethiopian Plateau.
As for the Ethiopian Plateau, its share in the East African economy is not high. After all, it is located in the border area, with mountainous terrain, the East African Rift Valley and other factors. Therefore, compared with other plateau areas in East Africa, it is only slightly stronger than Southwest Africa and the Azande Plateau.
As for what the mayor said, the officials of the New Frankfurt city government are naturally very clear about the important position of New Frankfurt in the national transportation system.
"Mr. Mayor, now the royal family and the central government have decided to build a new capital in New Frankfurt. This is another opportunity for our city."
Logans was very clear about what his subordinates said. He said, "New Frankfurt was built because of the railway, so in the future our New Frankfurt will definitely assume the function of the capital's transportation hub. Therefore, continuing to promote the construction of the "M"-shaped railway is the government's long-term task."
There is naturally no pictographic Chinese character for "米" in German, so the name of the "米"-shaped railway in East Africa is actually an "imported product". According to rumors, it was defined personally by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, who is well versed in Oriental studies.
There are currently eight railway lines that have been completed or are under construction in New Frankfurt:
Dar es Salaam - New Frankfurt
Kisan (Garni) – New Frankfurt
Luanda – New Frankfurt
Benguela – New Frankfurt
Beira-New Frankfurt
Quelimane – New Frankfort
New Hamburg – New Frankfurt
Walvis Bay - New Frankfort
At present, except for the two railways of Quelimane-New Frankfurt and Walvis Bay-New Frankfurt, which have not yet started, all the others have been completed.

Quelimane and Beira are both coastal port cities in Mozambique, with Quelimane located in northern Mozambique, north of the Zambezi River.
The Quelimane-New Frankfurt Railway actually has another name, which is the "Zambezi Railway". It starts in Quelimane in the north of the Zambezi Delta, passes through Tete along the Zambezi River, and then passes through the Luangwa Valley and finally connects to New Frankfurt.
The purpose of this railway is actually to fill the transportation gap between the Zambezi River and Lake Malawi. After all, the Zambezi River Valley and Lake Malawi are areas with quite good conditions, and Tete and the downstream city of Quelimane were both important cities in Mozambique in the past.
The Walvis Bay-New Frankfurt Railway, also known as the Southwest Railway, is currently being surveyed and investigated because it crosses the desert. In addition, the economic conditions in Southwest Africa are too poor and there is basically no economic value along the line, so the construction time is planned to be relatively late in the East African Railway Department. It will take a long time for the Walvis Bay Railway to connect to the inland.
The city of New Frankfurt can become the most important railway hub in East Africa thanks to the construction of the Central Railway. Among its "M"-shaped railways, five are directly derived from the Central Railway, and along the line are very important cities in East Africa, including Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Harare and so on.
The other three lines are also closely related to the Central Railway. For example, the Beira-New Frankfurt Railway is actually formed after the Hubbe Railway was connected to the Central Railway.
Similarly, the Walvis Bay Railway connects to the Central Railway from Bulawayo, and only the Quelimane Railway is a new line that directly connects to New Frankfurt.
Loggens said: "The railway hub is the biggest advantage of our New Frankfurt. In addition, it may become a transportation hub for Rhine City in the future. We will give priority to attracting a number of advanced equipment manufacturing industries to settle in New Frankfurt and build an inland national central city comparable to Dar es Salaam and Mombasa."
It has to be said that the city of New Frankfurt has great ambitions. After all, in terms of land transportation alone, the city of New Frankfurt is indeed the strongest now. However, there may be some possibility of catching up with Dar es Salaam and Mombasa, but it will be difficult to surpass them.
At least before other port cities in East Africa develop, the status of Dar es Salaam and Mombasa will be difficult to shake, especially Mombasa, which drives the entire north and is the only excellent seaport in the northern region.
Dar es Salaam is far behind in this regard. First of all, Dar es Salaam has too many competitors. Except for the East African plateau, most inland areas now have more options, including Luanda, Benguela, and Beira. The central region can already go to the sea with the help of these three ports, and it is not necessary to go to Dar es Salaam.
The western part of the African continent, that is, the Atlantic coast, which is opposite to Mombasa, belongs to colonies of other countries. There is no outlet to the sea in East Africa, and the natural wall of the Congo rainforest further hinders the development of transportation.
Therefore, if most provinces in the north want to go out to the sea, without leaving the country, they can only give priority to Mombasa as the seaport, including the Sigmaringen royal territory.
