Chapter 156 Dai Er's Revelation Is Not Forgetting
Vifiya lay on the bed, her eyes gradually adjusting to the darkness after the small oil lamp was blown out.
After hearing the bell ringing, Fei Yi and the others returned to their dormitories to sleep. After all, even if they wanted to break the rules, they didn't want to be caught by Madam Maggie.
The moonlight shines through the small window, bringing a little light.
Got a lot of information tonight, if they weren't lying.
Vifiya blinked her sleepy eyes.
St. Fagus Island is made up of a group of "abnormal" people, each of whom has his or her own differences.
I am not allowed to go out at night because of the legend of the devil.
She stared at the ceiling and made a rough guess.
Are Maggie and Clover's warnings because there really are demons on St. Fagus Island, or are they simply afraid of the darkness?
Fei Yi had said that she had gone out before, but that was different from what the fat boy had described. In other words, would Sangsong Tower occasionally let the children out? Was there a set time for them to leave the tower?
Also, every year children jump off Samsonta because they believe that normal children cannot stand the life in Samsonta.
She squeezed the quilt slightly, finally gaining some understanding about the island, but it was still not enough.
She still knew nothing about herself, and the envy of Nerys and the others didn't seem fake, but no matter how much they envied her, she had to regain her memory.
There may be misfortunes in her memories, but that was her past and she has no intention of abandoning it.
The sea breeze blew in through the small window, and the sound of my roommates' sleeping breaths could be heard from the side.
Vifiya also slowly closed her eyes. She had been having strange dreams recently, but when she woke up, she didn't remember anything.
Will she remember tonight's dream tomorrow? She couldn't get an answer.
The night on St. Fagus Island is like that of an ordinary city, but with the sea breeze and the occasional sound of seabirds flapping their wings.
Everything fell silent.
The tower keeper of Samson Tower sat and slept at the door as usual, hoping that tonight, like the past few days, Rodo would not bring new children to disturb him.
He likes such peaceful days very much.
"Cough." A small cough sounded in the dim dormitory.
"Cough." The sound was as dull as if it was locked in the chest.
"Ahem."
The moonlight reflected a few white spots in the dark pupils. Vifiya turned her head and looked in the direction of Dai'er.
"cough."
"Ahem."
"Cough cough cough."
The sound seemed to be suppressed, not wanting to disturb others in the middle of the night.
Vifiya didn't move. She watched the movement in the bed next to her vigilantly.
There was a faint fishy smell in the air. The moment the smell entered her nostrils, Vifiya threw back the quilt and stood up suddenly. Without time to put on her shoes, she ran over barefoot.
He pulled open the quilt that Dai'er had pulled up, revealing her head which was buried underneath.
Dai'er's breathing was a little rapid. She covered her mouth with her hands. She looked up and saw that it was Vifiya. She was a little surprised that she could still hear her voice even though it was so low.
"Cough." Another cough that was trying hard to suppress.
Vifiya stared at her for a while, then pulled down her hand, which was all red. Her lips, which had always been white, were stained with blood, as if they were embroidered with flowers.
"Cough!" Her chest suddenly heaved violently.
Vifia decisively shouted to Nerys, who had half-opened her eyes after hearing the noise in front of her: "Nerys! Go find Clover!"
Nerys was frightened by her voice, and the remaining sleepiness was driven away. She hurriedly got out of bed, and when she saw Dale's appearance, she did not hesitate. As she did before, she ran out of the dormitory to find Clover when she encountered an accident.
"Cough, cough!" Dai'er was speechless. The blood clot blocked her throat and robbed her of most of her breath.
Her brows were gentle, and she breathed weakly, trying to focus her eyes on the girl in front of the bed again.
She opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, she suddenly felt like vomiting.
A warm liquid surged from her throat, overflowed her mouth, and dyed her cheeks red.
There was no more violent coughing, the blood flowed quietly like a spring, and the chest trembled as the body tried to breathe.
"Cough!" Drops of blood splashed in her eyes.
Vifiya subconsciously stopped her hand as she was about to reach out. For some reason, an unclear face suddenly appeared in her mind. The person was also lying on the bed, with blood constantly coming out of his mouth.
That person seems to be in great pain.
When her mind met reality, Weifeiya saw Dai'er clearly in front of her.
"Cough cough cough!" Dai'er's face wrinkled and she looked painful.
Without any hesitation, Vifiya quickly moved to push her quilt aside.
Her face was calm. She didn't know where she got the strength from, but she forcefully turned Dai'er's body over, making her lie on her side, and slightly lowered her head.
She moved closer to Dale, resting her knees on the edge of the bed to support her whole body, and gently stroked her back with her hands.
"Cough, cough, cough!" She spat mouthfuls of blood onto Vifiya, and the blood clots were finally coughed out of her throat.
Having regained her breath, Dale didn't relax. She knew that after the blood, there would be excruciating pain all over her body. She knew the course of her illness very well, but this time...
She struggled to grab the corner of Vifiya's clothes, which was stained with her blood.
The girl lowered her head. Even though her vision was blurred, Dai'er could still see that the pair of black pupils were different from what she saw tonight. There was no panic or anxiety, but a calmness that was disproportionate to her age.
Vifiya freed her other hand, pulled the nightgown, which didn't fit her well and was a little too long, to one side and started wiping Dale's face.
"It's useless." The bleeding seemed to have stopped, and Dai'er felt that her body was in a different state of decline this time than before.
Although she spent most of her time sleeping, she could actually hear some sounds from the outside world.
She could probably guess what the girl in front of her wanted.
Xiao Hui, she remembered her name. She had almost no connection with her, but she was willing to help her.
Dale clearly remembered her parents pushing her onto the boat and leaving her to wander on the ocean.
She thought she had forgotten their faces in the endless pain.
Dai'er's breathing became heavier again, and every bone in her body was aching. She seemed to feel that the breath of death was getting closer and closer to her.
It turned out that she had not forgotten how she cried heart-wrenchingly that day, nor had she forgotten the relieved and laughing faces of her parents.
It turned out that she had been brooding over it all the time.
She just didn't understand, that's all.
Why would a person who is almost a stranger help her so much and want to save her life, but why would the parents who brought her into the world treat her as a burden and a bug?
She doesn't understand.
Perhaps she vaguely anticipated her own ending, or perhaps Vifiya reminded her of the past.
So, she wanted the girl in front of her to understand.
"Leave the tower..." Her voice became even softer than she thought. Could Xiao Hui not hear it clearly?
She desperately tried to speak again with the little strength she had left.
A delicate and warm palm wrapped around her cold hand. The black-haired girl lowered her head and said, "I heard it."
"Look... go..." Dai'er really didn't have the strength to say a complete sentence. She hoped that Vifiya could understand.
Vifiya stared at her face, with a hint of concern in her eyes.
Even though she heard what Dai'er said clearly, she didn't react obviously. Everything was calm.
Dale opened her mouth again, and Vifiya seemed to understand what she meant, and she moved closer to her.
"The devil... is... real..."
"Bang!" The dormitory door was suddenly opened.
Vifia looked over and saw Clover, wearing a shawl and carrying a small box, hurried over, followed by a worried Nerys.
The smell of blood, stronger than ever before, hit Nairis's nostrils. Her pupils shrank, and she saw that both of her roommates were covered in blood. She didn't know who to look at for a moment.
Clover skillfully examined Dale's body, took out something from the small box, and gave it to her to eat.
She found that her expression did not ease, but her pupils were gradually dilating. Her expression changed and she directly picked up Dai'er. She did not forget the small box she brought with her.
"I'll take her to see Madam Maggie." Clover ran out with her solemnly.
Vifia and Nerys couldn't help but follow her.
The oil lamp outside the dormitory was dim. Clover turned around and spoke quickly: "You don't have to follow!"
The two girls stopped abruptly.
Behind Clover, the doors of the other dormitories slowly opened a crack.
In the quiet night, even the smallest twists and turns can be heard clearly.
Vifia looked at Clover's receding back. Somehow, a picture suddenly appeared in her blank memory.
A pair of eyes as white as glass were looking at her. No, they were... a pair of brown pupils...
That person... She was catching that person's unstoppable bleeding, she...
Like a line, it suddenly broke, and everything was blank again.
"Fine."
"Fine."
"No way, you're not scared silly, are you?"
Vifiya's eyelashes trembled and she looked towards the source of the sound.
Fei Yi, looking cheerful and cheerful, said, "Are you scared already?"
She waved her hand: "You'll get used to it. It's not easy for Dai'er's body to hold on until now."
Nerys suppressed the uneasiness in her heart. Dale had been taken to see Madam Maggie by Sister Clover several times before, and she would return within seven days each time.
It's the same this time, right?
The fat boy yawned and walked slowly over from a distance. He smacked his lips and stared at the blood all over Vifiya's body: "Aren't you going to wash it?"
Eddie stood behind Fei Yi, looking at her calm face, yet also with obvious confusion.
Vifiya blinked, as if she had just come to her senses: "Is Maggie a doctor?"
"No." Fei Yi shrugged. "Every child who was taken to see Madam Maggie would disappear the next day."
No one else added to her words. After all, they knew the same thing as Fei Yi.
"Aren't you scared?" Eddie asked unexpectedly.
Vifiya did not miss his gaze. She lowered her head and carefully felt her emotions. She then realized that she was anxious, worried, and calm, but not afraid.
Is it related to the past? As the surroundings quieted down, she recalled her actions in response to Dale's illness...
Before she had time to think about it, a strong sense of sleepiness swept over her.
