Chapter 158 Trying to Get Out of the Tower
Layers of clouds and mist spread across the azure sky, and a veil covered the sky irregularly.
The library was very quiet today. Vifiya sat by the window, raised her head, and hid her three days of deep thoughts.
Is she really that good at sleeping?
Even though she knew it was abnormal, she still didn't think much about it, because she was sure that it was related to the dream she had been having.
Seeing that she was staring at one place, Fei Yi and the little fat man couldn't help but look up to see what was there. The surface of the empty ceiling was still a little irregular, just like what they were tired of seeing.
Vifiya didn't pay attention to their actions. She glanced sideways as if bored, and her eyes fell down, just in time to see Madam Maggie passing by through the small window.
The afternoon is a break every two weeks. According to Fei Yi and the others, Madam Maggie is always patrolling other places in the tower at this time, and the task of looking after the children in the library in the morning is left to Clover.
It was almost noon and Madam Maggie was doing her final checks.
"Bang-bang-bang-bang"
As expected, the bell rang throughout the island. Several people quickly put down their books and went straight to the dining hall.
Vifiya and the others were not in a hurry at first, but now there is a little fat boy. He is often hungry and only eats regular meals and dinner in a day.
Even with Vifiya's gravel sugar, it was not enough to fill his stomach. The little fat boy could only drink water continuously in the morning. He felt that there was only water left in his stomach.
When a few people rushed to the cafeteria, there were already quite a few children queuing inside.
Nerys, who was standing next to Vifiya, was much quieter than before. When she entered the dining hall, she adjusted herself and acted as usual.
Today's lunch is dried herring and stewed pork.
Vifiya breathed a sigh of relief. It was finally not pea porridge anymore. She had been eating pea porridge for several days in a row and she really couldn't stand it anymore.
Several people sat down around the long table, and it was obvious that the other children were also happy about the change in dishes today.
The little fat boy ate voraciously, his cheeks filled with food.
Vifiya took a bite of pork, paused, and chewed hesitantly. A strong garlic smell instantly overwhelmed the slight spiciness in it.
"Did Sister Clover put too much spices?" Even Nerys, who was never picky about food, couldn't help asking.
Eddie fell silent and stopped eating.
Fei Yi's face wrinkled into a ball, and she said firmly: "I hate garlic."
Clover's eyes locked onto her with incredible precision: "Don't be picky about food!"
Fei Yi curled her lips, looked up and saw that Vifiya and Eddie beside her were similar to her, and smiled with satisfaction.
The sultry midday wind blew into the Samson Tower, making the linen on my body feel a little hot.
This little incident was still insignificant. Vifiya lay on the bed, thought for a while, then got up and half-closed the small window.
She turned around and met Nerys's hesitant eyes.
She sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Nerys: "Don't worry."
The girl on the other side avoided her sight, and she really had no reason to stop them from going out.
She closed her eyes and stopped looking at Vifiya.
Nerys clearly saw her own contradictions.
She wanted them to be able to get out successfully, but she also hoped that Maggie would find them.
Vifiya lay down again, rubbing her clothes. Ever since she refused to listen to their discussion of the plan yesterday, Vifiya knew that she would not join their plan.
"When?" Nerys' voice came softly.
Vifiya didn't intend to hide it from her: "In the afternoon."
"I see." If Sister Clover came to check, she would help cover it up.
——
A few birds whose names I couldn't tell flew across the cloudless sky from time to time, and the scorching sun shone on the island.
Madam Maggie stopped writing with the quill in her hand, wiped the sweat from her forehead, and looked out the window.
Recently, apart from Xiao Hui, no new children have arrived on St. Fagus Island. I don’t know whether it is a good thing or a bad thing?
She looked away and tidied up the things on the table.
It was within her expectation that Xiao Hui could get along well with Nerys. Nerys was one of the few "normal" children in Samson Tower, and when she came to the tower, she would abide by the rules.
But… Madam Maggie paused at Papyrus Qi’s hand.
What she didn't expect was that Fei Yi, Eddie and the little fat boy would get together because of her.
She had never expected the children to be together. She rubbed her nose. Was it because of Xiao Hui? Shouldn't she have arranged Xiao Hui to the sixth dormitory?
Seeing the combination of five people, she didn't know what to make of it.
Fei Yi, Eddie and the little fat boy don't cause trouble very often, but whatever they want to do will shake the rules of Sansonta.
She breathed a sigh of relief, put a stack of papyrus aside, and pressed it down with a stone to prevent it from being blown away by the wind outside the window.
Madam Maggie pulled out a piece of paper from the other side, picked up the quill, paused slightly, and then made a stroke on it. A black line was stained on the low-quality paper, crossing the name "Dell".
She stood up and skillfully put it back in the cabinet against the wall.
After doing all this, she walked out. The little fat boy had been quiet for too long, and she had a premonition that he would do something today.
She smoothed the wrinkles on her dress, then opened the door and walked to the open space in front of the tower.
The sunlight fell into her eyes, and it didn't take long for her to get used to the brightness.
She took a step forward and walked straight towards the gate. She put her hand on the iron gate and shook it, and the big chain made a sound.
The tower guard, who had been soundly asleep, suddenly opened his eyes and turned to see Madam Maggie. He quickly stood up and said, "Madam, I have repaired the hole in the sixth floor floor. Is there anything else?"
Madam Maggie didn't care about his dereliction of duty and reminded him, "Look around more. If you see a child, catch him."
"Okay!" The red-haired man understood instantly. It seemed that it was the day when the fat boy would try to leave the tower again. "I understand."
Madam Maggie's footsteps were heading somewhere else. The sleepiness on the red-haired man's face was no longer there. He smiled and hummed a tune in good spirits.
Madam Maggie stood in the middle of the open space, the hot sun shining on her face. She looked around thoughtfully and walked decisively to the left.
Stepping onto the grassy area of Samson Tower, she walked under the shade of the trees. The coolness hit her, and without stopping, she walked back into the sunshine.
There was another shade, she brushed past the leaves, her calm gaze falling on a blind spot.
The little fat man stretched out his hand and tried hard to dig a hole. He brushed away all the fallen leaves, and a hole leading directly to the outside appeared before his eyes. The little fat man chuckled.
Maggie took a few steps forward, and when the fat boy heard the noise and tried to turn back, she grabbed his shoulders.
"Where do you want to go?" Madam Maggie's voice sounded faintly behind him.
The little fat man didn't look back, and his whole body drooped down. He knew that he would be caught by Madam Maggie again. How did she do it?
Maggie aimed at the hole below and missed the fat boy blocking the hole.
The little fat man's eyes were dull, and he spoke weakly: "I just want grilled fish, grilled fish..."
His appearance didn't affect Madam Maggie in the slightest. As usual, she made her decision about him: "Since I discovered you in advance this time, I won't punish you for now. Next time, go to the red-haired man to receive your punishment."
The little fat man stared at Madam Maggie in disbelief.
She continued, "Why, do you still want to be punished now?"
"No." The little fat man refused subconsciously. He blinked in confusion and slowly walked back into the tower.
Only when the little fat man disappeared from her sight did she turn to look at the cave entrance. Instead of covering the hole again, she blocked it with leaves again.
Out of Maggie's sight, the fat boy sat down in front of the tower with a puzzled look on his face.
Strange? What happened to Madam Maggie?
In the past, whenever he was about to go out, Madam Maggie would punish him, and at most she would let the red-haired girl decide the content of the punishment.
Why is today different from before?
The heat hit his face and he stopped worrying.
He went all the way inside and suddenly turned a corner. Before Madam Maggie came back, he jogged to the back of Samson Tower again.
Of course, he had to speak as quietly as possible during the short distance past the big iron gate. There was a high probability that the red-haired man who was not sleeping would hear his footsteps, and he was very familiar with this.
He skillfully turned around the wall, stepped carefully onto the grass, and saw three people waiting here in the sunlight in front of the shade of the tree.
The little fat boy was different from usual. He was now radiating a vitality that Vifiya and the others could not ignore.
Fei Yi was about to complain, but when she remembered what Weifeiya had said, she shut her mouth again.
The little fat boy walked quickly to their side, but also followed what Vifia had said in her plan and tried not to leave any traces on the grass.
He stared at Vifiya with burning eyes. When she saw him about to speak, Vifiya put her index finger in front of her lips.
She pointed to some trees not far away.
They nodded and started climbing the tree as agreed.
To be honest, Fei Yi and the other two didn't understand why tree climbing was included in the plan.
Since the fat boy can deceive Mrs. Maggie once and pretend to be caught, and then go out for the second time when Mrs. Maggie relaxes her vigilance, why does he still need to climb the tree?
If you are worried that Madam Maggie will come over, this place is the least likely to get out successfully.
When the fat guy suggested that the best location for his plan was here, Fei Yi and Eddie thought they had misheard.
Sharp iron mesh is interwoven into the wall, and no one knows what is behind it.
Few people come to the back of the Samson Tower.
However, seeing Vifiya's determined eyes at that time, they didn't know her reason.
The four of them quickly climbed up the trees, Fei Yi and Eddie were in one tree, and Vifiya and the little fat boy were in another.
Vifiya didn't know how she actually learned to climb trees. She was worried that she couldn't do it, but as soon as she touched the tree trunk, the movements came naturally.
If I were really a noble in the past... would a noble climb a tree? It would be indecent no matter how you look at it, right?
But what surprised her was the fat boy. Among the four people, he was the most flexible. Could it be that she had always had some prejudice against fat boys?
The leaves just covered the branches, and even if the wind blew, the figure on them was not exposed at all.
Several people squatted on the tree for a while. The noise of the children in the tower gradually dissipated, and bursts of noisy sounds were heard outside.
Only here there is nothing.
The little fat boy blinked and held onto the tree trunk beside him. He was in a very complicated situation. He didn't expect that the physical exercise that the red-haired boy had punished him with before would come in handy now.
But... he glanced at the girl next to him and wondered what the purpose of climbing the tree was. He had observed that even Madam Maggie didn't often come to this place.
Thinking of this, he turned his attention to the empty grass in front of him.
In the place where there were no leaves to block the view, a low shadow came around the corner.
Vifiya's eyes did not change.
The other three people naturally saw it as well.
Fei Yi blinked in surprise and looked at Eddie, who was equally surprised.
The little fat boy suddenly widened his eyes and held his breath.
