Chapter 216: One Day Notes: The Arrival of Spring

Chapter 216: One Day Notes: The Arrival of Spring

In the year 537 of Gujia, on the night of October 17th of the Pre-Arctic calendar, unknown forces raided the headquarters of the Lehomi Church, causing an unquenchable fire. In the capital of the Segarot Empire, Lachigo, the wings of the Buma Lingda columns appeared, and a long howl could be heard across the eastern continent.

That night, many papers fell down, containing the life story of Buma Lingdare, and the snow season arrived early.

In the same year, Vifia Kesley, the second daughter of the Kesley family of the Segarot Empire, inherited the title with the witness of the goddess Lehomi and the granting of the title by the emperor of the empire. She became the first woman to inherit the title of marquis in the Segarot Empire and the first female marquis in the East Continent.

On the evening of February 14th, 538 AD, the ninth princess of Iskanar, Avril François, launched a coup d'état, murdering her father and brother. On the 20th of the same month, Avril François ascended the throne and refused the Pope's coronation, becoming the first female monarch of Iskanar and the first queen of the Eastern Continent.

Five days before the God's Birthday in the year 539 of Guga, the Emperor of the Segarot Empire married the Minister of the Palace, Lila, and the whole country celebrated. Lila Dodu became the first commoner queen in the history of the empire. In the same year, the eldest son of the Blubert family, Edmont Blubert, voluntarily gave up his title, and the second daughter, Gillian Blubert, became the second female marquis of the empire.

In the year 540 of Gujia, on the evening of May 23rd of the ancient lunar calendar, the Emperor of the Segarot Empire and the Queen attended the birthday party of their second son. The Emperor was poisoned and was in critical condition. The Queen was terrified. Through the key testimony of the Knight Marquis of Kesley, the second son was found to be the real murderer of the king and was hanged on a chosen day.

On the 27th, the third son launched a coup, while the fourth son refused to participate in government affairs. The Empress, exhausted, asked Grand Princess Constance to take charge of the situation. Constance took the initiative and ordered Grand Knight Commander Osa Dodu to lead the troops to suppress the rebellion. The next day, the third son was beheaded on the spot, and the emperor died that same day after unsuccessful medical treatment.

On July 16th of the pre-homoic calendar, with the support of Queen Lila, Marquis Kesley, and Marquis Brubert, Conseils Dodo inherited the throne and was crowned by the Pope. She was the first female emperor in the history of the Segarot Empire and the second female monarch of the East Continent after Queen Iskana.

On the eve of the God’s Birthday in the year 542 of Gujia, the long snow season that lasted for six years since the Buma Lingda Le incident finally came to an end.

The Empress of the Segarot Empire, Queen Iskana, King Urushia, and Pope of the Lehomi Church officially named it the Winter Ring Era.

The ice on the river surface shattered, the sun broke through the clouds, the snow melted, and the major territories were filled with joy that spring had finally arrived again.

"Lady Vifiya, come out and bask in the sun!" Marlene stuck her head out of the half-open study door and excitedly shouted to Vifiya who was handling official business inside.

Arnold, who was guarding the door, glanced at her and chose to ignore her because it was indeed time for Vifiya to go out for a walk.

Vivienne clung to Marlene, her innocent eyes looking at her expectantly.

When Vifiya looked up, she saw two pairs of sparkling eyes. Her brows softened and she waved to them.

The two of them trotted over and stopped in front of the desk.

Vifia put down her quill, stood up, walked around the desk, and took the leaves from the two people's heads. "Where did you go to play?"

Vivienne smiled innocently, "Marin took me on an adventure outside the castle." After a moment's thought, she added, "I've already reported this to Mei."

She acted like a good kid, and Vifiya praised her naturally, "Really? You did a great job. Keep it up next time."

Marlene's pointed gaze was too obvious. Vifia turned around and asked, "Have you reported this to Mei as well, Marlene?"

Marlene's mouth twitched: "No."

"Your skills in coaxing people haven't improved at all." A disgusted voice came from my mind.

Vifiya chuckled but didn't respond. She said to Marlene and the others, "You go first. I'll be there later."

"Okay!" Without waiting for Marlene to say anything, Vivienne pulled Marlene over and walked out.

The two figures disappeared into the study.

Vifiya turned around to finish her business and asked in a low voice, "Do you want me to coax you, [Vifiya]?"

"Am I a child?"

"Then accompany me to bask in the sun?"

"What's so good about being in the sun? Just leave if you want."

After finishing her official business, Vifiya put away the reply letters to Avril and Letitia, and picked up the few sips of hot tea left.

The tea surface reflected a familiar face, with familiar blonde hair and red eyes.

Twenty-one-year-old [Vifiya] has grown up and looks more and more like her mother Yotina, but her eyes are not as sharp as Yotina's, but are rounder.

"What? After looking at this face for a long time, are you also fascinated by it?" [Vifiya] raised her voice slightly, with a hint of ridicule.

Vifiya brought the hot tea to her lips, and her reflection swayed on the tea surface. She drank it all in one gulp.

"Do you like it?" Vifiya asked back, do you like how you will look when you grow up?

She gently placed the teacup back on the table and turned to walk out.

"They're all just shells, what's the difference?"

[Vefiya]'s answer was not beyond Vefiya's expectations.

She stepped out of the study and said to Arnold, "Together?"

Arnold nodded. He was her knight. Wherever she went, he would go.

"Why did you invite me if you invited him? I'm going back to bed."

“It’s different.”

[Vefiya] paused for a moment before speaking reluctantly: "Alright."

Arnold saw her talking to herself and realized that she was talking to that person.

Five years ago, when she came back from the dining room, she explained to them that the person was the real Vifiya.

She didn't explain to them that the person was the real Vifiya, and who she was?

She didn't speak up, and they didn't ask. It was enough for them to know that it was her who had experienced a lot with them.

Everyone has secrets.

Years of winter have not withered the garden of the Marquis of Caseley's Palace. The flower beds are full of flowers that are good at surviving in winter. Now the snow has melted and the petals are covered with crystal water droplets.

Vifiya glanced at the flower pavilion on one side and walked to the other side.

Mei had already prepared the tables and chairs, as well as the desserts needed for afternoon tea.

Marlene and Vivienne were sitting upright. When they saw Vifiya coming, they stood up. Marlene complained, "You're so slow! I'm hungry."

Vivienne asked doubtfully, "But didn't Marlene just steal a piece of currant almond cookie?"

Marlene's face fell. She pulled Vivienne away from the table and started tickling her. "Didn't you promise me you wouldn't mess with me next time?"

Vivienne was tickled so hard that she couldn't help but laugh. "But...hahaha...I can't...hahaha...lieve...hahahaha...Lady Vifia..."

The two people's cheerful voices echoed in the garden.

Vifiya shifted her attention from Marlene and the other person to two exquisite oak tables, both covered with embroidered cloth. There were eight seats in total, and with Arnold, there were only five people.

She had a vague answer in her heart.

Mei looked up and smiled, "I invited Master Osa, Master Isidore, and Master Kaharun."

Normally, Mei didn't need to address Isidore and Arnold, who didn't have any titles, with honorifics. However, they had been frequently in the Marquis's mansion for six years, so even if she hadn't revealed their identities, she probably knew them.

They were also good friends of Vifiya's, so she was willing to give them respect.

"Tsk, she still does unnecessary things." [Vifiya] said with disgust.

Mei set out the desserts and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Lady Vifiya, for inviting guests without your permission."

"She knows that, too."

Vifiya didn’t pay attention to [Vifiya’s] complaints. She said, “It’s okay.”

She knew Mei had her limits.

"Viv---a--"

There was a drawn-out call and the sound of running footsteps coming from not far away.

Vifiya looked in the direction of the voice and saw Kaharun running towards her with his arms open.

"How disgusting." [Vefiya] sneered without emotion.

When Arnold was about to hug Vifiya, he quickly grabbed his collar. Isidore, with an expressionless face, took a few quick steps and grabbed half of his cloak.

Kaharun didn't care. He smiled and said, "I heard there are walnut and date pie."

Osa looked past them, bending over the delicately crafted walnut and date pie. "Oh, mine."

Hearing this, Kaharun was incredulous: "I was here first!"

The sun in early spring is not very warm, with a faint temperature, and the breeze is still cool.

"What a nice weather today." Marlene couldn't help but sigh after eating several cookies in one breath.

She looked at Vifiya beside her and said, "It's really fast. Lady Vifiya has grown up too."

Vivienne: “Yes.”

Mei smiled with relief: "That's right."

Vifiya paused while drinking mint mead. Why did this sound a bit strange?

Oh, yes, she seems to have grown up a long time ago.

She did not open her mouth to refute them. In their eyes, she had indeed just reached adulthood.

Fortunately, she had cooperated with Queen Mother Lila and others before. Now, as long as she doesn't do anything that is detrimental to the Segarot Empire, Conseils will not do anything to her.

She was an adult and was not forced into marriage by the royal family, but on the surface, Constance still had to urge her to get married.

There was a lot of noise at the other table.

Kaharun, clutching the last piece of walnut and date pie, was in tears. He cried to Vifiya, "Vifiya, are there any more walnut and date pie? Osha took them all."

Before Vifiya could speak, Arnold handed him a bowl of fig, raisin and apple stew.

Kaharun lowered his eyes and silently reached out to take it: "That's fine."

Osa finished the last piece of walnut and date pie with satisfaction. Seeing that Isidore hadn't touched the almond pastry, she knew that he was not picky about food, so she asked, "Why don't you eat it?"

Kaharun looked up and answered for him, "He's been experimenting on himself. He can't eat almonds lately."

Vifiya's eyes glanced over, lingered on Isidore for a moment, and then moved away.

By the time Isidore noticed, she was already interrupting Vivienne.

In the garden, water drops fall silently onto the soil.

It feels pretty good, Vifiya thought, it’s a long-lost peaceful time.

Traveling back to Isidore's past five years ago, everything on Saint Fagus Island seemed like a dream, less real than her rebirth.

She did not tell Isidore that she already knew what he had said about the past.

There are only two options for her future: go home or wander in this world forever.

Going home, they were in two different worlds and the chances of them meeting again were slim.

Wandering in the world, Isidore, as a person who once did not exist, she had no idea how he could have the memory of her intervention in the past for sixteen lifetimes, but would he still be there in the next life, and the next life after that?

After telling him, tie him up?

Tell him to hold on until he sees her in the next life?

The wait she personally arranged was enough once.

She understood how long the wait would be.

In her sixteenth life, she had no future, and she and Raylord died together in the cave.

It was rare for Vifiya to think about the world after her death.

What about those who are still alive?

Neve, Arnold, including Isidore of the Sixteenth Century, Kaharun who tested her, and the Mei sisters whom she had helped...

She wondered if her feigned ignorance was another form of cruelty to Isidore.

She would not try, because no matter how clever the temptation was, there was a chance that it would be discovered.

It’s better to pretend it never happened.

It's good now.

To be honest, she didn't tell Isidore and the others who she was.

It's not that she doesn't want to say it, but she doesn't know how to start...

"Lady Vifia, this pudding is delicious!" Vivienne said as she pushed it to her excitedly.

Vifiya's eyebrows softened: "Well, thank you."

Five years of rest and planning are almost enough, it's time to move on.
