Chapter 124 Isolation from the World
Shen Shuangmiao awoke in a state of extreme discomfort and drowsiness.
My eyelids felt as heavy as if they were filled with lead, my throat was dry and sore, and my mind was foggy and dizzy.
She struggled to open her eyes, but what came into view was not the familiar villa, but an unfamiliar glass skylight.
Sunlight streamed through the glass windows, and the air was filled with the salty scent of the sea.
The surroundings were eerily quiet.
There was no urban hustle and bustle, no vehicle noise, only the faint sound of ocean waves coming from outside the window.
Where is this?
Shen Shuangmiao suddenly sat up, a strong wave of dizziness hitting her, and she almost fell back onto the bed.
She held her forehead, the fragmented memories of last night flooding her mind.
May it burn!
It was him.
All the clues came together at this moment.
Shen Shuangmiao was stunned.
Zhu Jin's quiet purchase of the island and President Wang's excessive urging to drink—it was all a meticulously planned scheme!
He never once considered letting go.
All the previous forbearance and pretense were for this final moment, on the eve of her marriage registration with Zhao Mobai, to completely steal her away from everyone's world.
Shen Shuangmiao felt cold all over and trembled uncontrollably.
She lifted the soft silk blanket and found herself wearing a comfortable cotton nightgown.
Without thinking it through, Shen Shuangmiao stumbled out of the bedroom barefoot.
Outside the bedroom is a spacious hallway that connects to a spiral wooden staircase.
The house is decorated in a minimalist resort style, open and bright, yet it feels empty and unsettling.
Shen Shuangmiao grabbed the stair railing and practically tumbled down the stairs.
Downstairs is an open-plan living space, with the living room, dining room and kitchen connected together, facing the boundless blue sea and sky.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, there was fine white sand and crystal-clear water, a scene as beautiful as a postcard, but at this moment it only made her feel boundless despair.
In front of the island in the open kitchen stood a tall figure she least wanted to see at that moment.
May it all be extinguished.
He had his back to her, wearing only a simple white linen shirt with the sleeves casually rolled up to his elbows, revealing his smooth forearms.
Zhu Jin was focused on frying the eggs in the pan, his movements skilled and composed, with toasted bread and cut fruit already laid out beside him.
The sunlight outlined his tall and straight profile, making them seem like just an ordinary couple on vacation.
Hearing hurried footsteps coming from the stairs, Zhu Jin slowly turned around, his face showing no surprise.
His gaze was calm as it fell on Shen Shuangmiao's pale, terrified face, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
"Awake?" Zhu Jin's voice was deep, with a slight hoarseness from just waking up, his tone so natural as if they had always lived here.
"Perfect timing, breakfast will be ready soon. Go wash your face first, it'll make you feel better."
His nonchalant attitude, as if everything was perfectly normal, sent chills down Shen Shuangmiao’s spine more than anything else!
Shen Shuangmiao took a deep breath, stared intently at him, her body trembling violently.
"Zhu Jin! Where have you taken me? What do you want from me?!"
Zhu Jin did not answer immediately. He put the fried eggs into a clean white plate, turned off the stove, and then slowly turned around, picked up the towel next to him, and wiped his hands.
He met Shen Shuangmiao's fiery gaze and chuckled softly.
"Haven't you always wanted to know why I've been holding back?"
Zhu Jin raised an eyebrow, his tone indifferent. "Now you know."
He admitted it.
Shen Shuangmiao felt a sudden tightness in her chest, as if a surge of blood rushed to the top of her head.
She rushed forward and swept the breakfast he had just plated onto the ground!
Smash!
The plate shattered, and fried eggs and fruit rolled all over the floor, leaving a mess.
"Let me leave!"
Shen Shuangmiao was terrified, tears streaming down her face. "Let me go right now! You're a madman! Do you hear me? Let me go!"
Zhu Jin looked at the mess on the ground, but there was no sign of anger on his face.
He didn't even look down at the fragments and food; his eyes were fixed on Shen Shuangmiao, a possessive, obsessive urge surging within them.
He spoke slowly: "The drone that brought you here has left. This is my private island. No ships or planes will approach without my permission."
"The satellite phone and all communication equipment are here with me, and there is enough food and fresh water stored underground for the two of us for three months."
With each word he uttered, he extinguished all of Shen Shuangmiao's hopes.
"so,"
Zhu Jin looked at her face, which had instantly lost all color, and continued, "Don't even think about leaving. You forced me to do this."
"It was you who wanted to get a marriage certificate with Zhao Mobai, it was you who insisted on leaving me, it was you who forced me to this point."
Shen Shuangmiao was so angry at his distorted and untrue remarks that she trembled all over.
She sneered, "I forced you? Zhu Jin, listen carefully, it's me who doesn't want to be with you! I don't want to! Do you understand? I don't love you anymore, I hate you! I feel disgusted just looking at you! What you're doing is pointless!"
Shen Shuangmiao roared with all her might, each word filled with hatred.
However, Zhu Jin's face still showed no sign of pain.
He simply stared at her silently, his unfathomable black eyes filled with a terrifying stubbornness.
"I know."
"I know you hate me and resent me."
"It doesn't matter."
"It was my fault before. I was a jerk. I didn't treat you well, I didn't protect you, and I made you suffer so much."
"It won't happen again."
"Here, it's just the two of us. I will take good care of you and make it up to you for the rest of my life."
Zhu Jin reached out, trying to grab Chen Shuangmiao.
"You're a madman! You're a complete and utter madman!"
Shen Shuangmiao couldn't listen anymore. She turned around, staggered back upstairs, and slammed the bedroom door shut with a bang.
She leaned against the cold door panel, slid down to the ground helplessly, and tears streamed down her face.
This is a cage of despair.
It was no different from the two years she was married to Zhu Jin, and even more terrifying.
She was trapped.
She tried her best to escape Zhu Jin, to escape the obsessive and mad man, but she was still trapped on this isolated island.
Shen Shuangmiao hugged herself helplessly and cried softly.
downstairs.
Zhu Jin silently picked up the cleaning tools and began to tidy up the mess on the ground.
His movements were unhurried and his expression focused, as if he were accomplishing something extremely important.
Just then, the satellite phone he had casually placed on the island counter began to vibrate.
The screen displayed Madam Su's name.
Zhu Jin glanced at it but didn't answer immediately.
He swept the last shard of porcelain into the dustpan, then carefully wiped the floor clean with a damp cloth before picking up the satellite phone and pressing the answer button.
"Zhu Jin!"
Madam Su's voice, suppressing her anger, immediately rang out, "Where did you take Miaomiao? Bring her back safely at once!"
