Chapter 23: Sue if you don't divorce
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
Zhou Wu looked at the receptionist who had spoken with displeasure.
The receptionist didn't take Shen Shuangmiao seriously at all, which is why she dared to be so sarcastic, but she didn't expect Zhou Wu to be completely unmoved by her.
She quickly lowered her head, not daring to utter a sound.
Zhou Wu helped Shen Shuangmiao up: "You came to ask when A Jin got divorced, right? Come on, I'll take you upstairs first. A Jin is really something, you came and he didn't even let anyone entertain you, what's the point of leaving you here?"
Shen Shuangmiao pursed her lips, said nothing, and silently followed her over.
There are five elevators in the company lobby.
There is also a private elevator for the president.
Zhou Wu pulled Shen Shuangmiao to the president's private elevator, pressed the open button, and led her inside. Then he took out the elevator card from his bag.
Shen Shuangmiao noticed that her elevator card was a specially customized spare card, and it was Zhou Wu's favorite light purple color.
She curled her fingertips, and couldn't help but think of what Zhu Jin had once said: if their studio grew bigger and stronger in the future, they would buy a building, and the group would still be called Mu Shuang, with only them having the elevator card for the president's private elevator.
Years passed, and all the promises made to her were broken, but fulfilled by Zhou Wu.
Shen Shuangmiao couldn't express her current feelings; she only felt a heavy weight on her heart.
She slowly exhaled, calmed down, and followed Zhou Wu to the top floor.
Zhou Wu went to knock on the door.
Zhu Jin's voice immediately came from the president's office.
"Please come in."
Zhou Wu pushed open the door: "Ah Jin."
Zhu Jin looked up from his busy work. His gaze was gentle when he saw her, but when he saw Shen Shuangmiao beside her, his expression suddenly darkened.
He put down his pen and looked coldly at Shen Shuangmiao.
What are you doing here?
Zhou Wu hurriedly explained, "Miaomiao came to see you, but she was chased away by the bodyguards in the company building. Honestly, why didn't you tell the receptionist to call you as soon as she saw Miaomiao?"
She feigned reproach, but there was no intention of blaming her at all; it sounded more like she was being coquettish.
Zhu Jin slammed the file on the table, leaned back, crossed his arms, and looked down at Shen Shuangmiao.
"We're getting a divorce anyway, and she's nobody to me. Why should I give her special treatment?"
A single sentence struck a nerve with Shen Shuangmiao, making her feel uneasy.
She took two steps forward.
"I came here to arrange the final time to get our marriage certificate. Don't worry, after we get the certificate, I will completely disappear from any place where you are. If we meet again, we'll pretend we don't know each other."
Zhu Jin was taken aback, then narrowed his eyes and looked at her coldly, his gaze sweeping over her face before moving down to her lower body.
"Your foot has recovered?"
Shen Shuangmiao nodded: "Yes, don't worry, when we go to the Civil Affairs Bureau, I guarantee no one will be able to tell that my foot is injured."
Before Zhu Jin could speak, she glanced at the calendar.
"Today is Tuesday, and I have no work to do for the next three days. I can be on call 24 hours a day. I'll wait for you to have time so we can get the marriage certificate right away. You only need to spare half an hour."
After Shen Shuangmiao finished speaking, she met Zhu Jin's cold and gloomy gaze: "President Zhu, even if you are busy with countless affairs every day, you must still have this little bit of time, right?"
Zhou Wu's eyes flickered, and he couldn't help but look at Zhu Jin.
A fountain pen appeared in Zhu Jin's hand at some point, and he was casually playing with it.
His eyes were lowered, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.
Shen Shuangmiao couldn't understand what his silence at this moment meant.
She couldn't help but step forward: "Zhu Jin, are you listening to me? Half an hour, three whole days, you can always find the time."
Zhu Jin slammed down her pen and stared coldly at him: "So eager for a divorce, do you want to get a marriage certificate with Fu Xuan right away?"
Shen Shuangmiao frowned: "This has nothing to do with Fu Xuan. Our marriage should have ended in the first place. Isn't this what you wanted?"
Without a second thought, Zhu Jin said, "You were the one who proposed the divorce first, and now you're turning around and saying it was what I wanted?"
"So you mean you don't want a divorce at all?" Shen Shuangmiao retorted.
Zhu Jin was silent for two seconds before retorting, "Who wouldn't want to divorce a woman like you?"
Even though Shen Shuangmiao had guessed what he was going to say, she still felt a pang of pain in her heart upon hearing those words.
She suppressed her emotions and said calmly, "Then let's set a time. You must give me a specific time today."
Zhu Jin remained silent.
Zhou Wu listened quietly without interrupting, simply gazing at the pristine white floor.
Half a minute later, Zhu Jin picked up his phone, fiddled with something for a while, and finally dialed a number.
"Zhao Dong."
He pressed the speakerphone button.
Zhao Dong's voice came from inside: "What's wrong, President Zhu? I'm hosting a small investment promotion meeting here, I'll be right there..."
"No need, just check my itinerary for the next three days for me first," Zhu Jin interrupted him, his tone impatient.
Zhao Dong paused, as if looking through something, and then quickly spoke again: "President Zhu, you need to start visiting the construction site in person to supervise the work and hold meetings with the project team in the next three days."
"Is there a time when we can go get the divorce certificate?" Zhu Jin asked.
Shen Shuangmiao held her breath and listened quietly.
Soon, Zhao Dong hesitated and said, "You have to go to six construction sites a day. Forget about getting the marriage certificate, you don't even have time to eat. How about next week? I'll arrange it for you."
Zhu Jin hung up the phone and raised an eyebrow at Shen Shuangmiao.
"Did you hear that? I'm busy this week."
Before Shen Shuangmiao could say anything, Zhou Wu couldn't help but cough lightly.
"Ah Jin, why don't you skip the construction site tomorrow morning? If there's anything I can help with..."
"Sister Wu, I need to do all these things myself. I really can't get my marriage certificate with Shen Shuangmiao this week, so please don't try to help her."
Zhu Jin interrupted Zhou Wu, his tone still gentle, but upon closer listening, it carried a subtle hint of domineering.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Wu took a deep breath; he was completely at a loss.
She could only smile.
"Fine, I won't interfere in your affairs anymore."
Shen Shuangmiao pursed her lips, speechless for a moment.
Zhu Jin threw his phone on the table: "Aren't you leaving yet?"
Shen Shuangmiao clenched her fists.
She's not stupid.
Before making the call, Zhu Jin fiddled around for a while, clearly sending a message to Zhao Dong, which is why the two of them were able to go back and forth saying they didn't have time.
She couldn't be bothered to guess Zhu Jin's motives; she only felt angry.
Even if Zhu Jin hated her for forcing him into marriage and had no feelings for her, they had at least gone through hardships together before.
Now, even a peaceful breakup is not an option; do they have to find ways to torment her to feel better?
Shen Shuangmiao had lost count of how many times Zhu Jin had delayed her.
She walked over slowly, looking down at Zhu Jin across the desk.
"This is the last time."
“If you haven’t made time to go with me to get our marriage certificate by next week, I will wait until the 30-day cooling-off period ends before filing for divorce.”
"I believe you don't want things to get so ugly, right?"
Shen Shuangmiao threatened Zhu Jin for the first time, her gaze resolute.
