Chapter 51 Slander
Everything happened too fast.
Before Shen Shuangmiao could react, the door to the lounge was pushed open.
When Zhu Jin entered, he saw Shen Shuangmiao standing in front of Zhou Wu, her face showing a mixture of anger and surprise.
Zhou Wu was pushed to the ground, her eyes red, looking extremely wronged and frightened.
“Ah Jin…” Zhou Wu raised her head to look at Zhu Jin, her voice trembling with tears. She hesitated, glancing timidly at Chen Shuangmiao, as if she dared not say more.
Zhu Jin's expression quickly darkened, and his brows furrowed.
He strode over, completely ignoring Shen Shuangmiao standing to the side, and squatted down to support Zhou Wu's shoulder.
His tone carried a concern that Shen Shuangmiao hadn't heard in a long time.
"What happened? Are you hurt anywhere?"
"No, it's nothing..."
Zhou Wu leaned against him and sobbed softly.
She whispered, "It's nothing, I just lost my balance, it has nothing to do with Miaomiao."
The more she said that, the clearer the implication became.
Zhu Jin raised his head, his gaze suddenly shooting towards Shen Shuangmiao, filled with icy anger.
"What are you doing here? Who gave you permission to hurt Sister Wu!"
Shen Shuangmiao felt a pang of pain in her heart as she was struck by the non-blame in his eyes.
"I didn't push her! She did it herself..."
"Enough!"
Zhu Jin interrupted her coldly, his eyes filled with unfamiliarity.
"I don't want to hear your explanation, get out!"
While scolding Shen Shuangmiao, he took off his suit jacket and carefully draped it over Zhou Wu's body, covering her chest with gentle movements.
Without turning his head, he instructed Zhao Dong outside, "Go to the nearby shopping mall and buy Sister Wu a new outfit. Make sure it's the best!"
He Dong immediately agreed and left.
As Shen Shuangmiao watched this scene, seeing his meticulous care for Zhou Wu and his cold disgust towards her, she felt a chill run from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, and her blood ran cold.
All explanations stuck in my throat, becoming utterly ridiculous.
Shen Shuangmiao clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug deep into her palms.
The pain kept her conscious for the last time.
She can't leave.
She thought of the employees still under investigation and the precarious state of her studio.
If we turn away now, all our previous efforts will have been in vain.
Shen Shuangmiao took a deep breath, suppressing the stinging in her eyes and the urge to turn and leave. She stood there, her voice becoming somewhat hoarse.
"Zhu Jin, I'm not here to cause trouble. There's been a problem at my studio, and several employees have been taken away for investigation. I need your help."
Zhu Jin looked down to check if Zhou Wu had any injuries. Upon hearing this, he paused, but instead of looking up, he let out a very soft, sarcastic laugh.
"Help you? Shen Shuangmiao, after you just pushed Sister Wu down, you still think I'd help you? Why should I help you?"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Wu's eyes flashed with a hint of barely perceptible smugness, but he gently tugged at Zhu Jin's sleeve.
She gently advised, "Don't be like this. Miaomiao is probably just too anxious. She must be very worried about what happened to the studio. I just said a few words to her, telling her not to keep bothering you and to think of other solutions. She might really be a little unhappy, that's why..."
Her words, seemingly meant to reconcile, were actually full of implications.
Only now did Shen Shuangmiao realize Zhou Wu's true colors and how fragrant the tea was.
She just found it ridiculous.
Zhu Jin's expression grew even colder, and his attitude towards Shen Shuangmiao showed no sign of softening.
"Did you hear that? They're still defending you! Shen Shuangmiao, what kind of heart do you have?"
Shen Shuangmiao stood there being criticized by him, feeling utterly suffocated.
Further explanation of whether or not it was pushed is pointless.
Zhu Jin would never believe her.
"You pushed Sister Wu down, and you still have the nerve to come begging me? To ask me for help?"
Zhu Jin stood up and walked step by step to Shen Shuangmiao.
Zhou Wu had already been helped to the sofa, his eyes filled with a smug, cold light as he watched the show unfold.
"Ah Jin, you should talk things out properly, don't be too hasty."
Shen Shuang glanced at her, ignoring Zhou Wu's extremely hypocritical and irritating performance.
"Even if I pushed it, I apologize to you and to Miss Zhou, but the matter at the studio is urgent. Zhu Jin, please help me, even if it's for the sake of our past relationship, or whatever conditions you set."
This time, for the sake of the studio and the employees who worked so hard with her, she had no choice but to back down.
Even if she admits that she pushed Zhou Wu, it doesn't matter, as long as she can carve out a way for the studio to survive.
Zhu Jin looked down at her, his eyes filled with a cold light.
“You’re trying to negotiate with me now, wanting me to help your studio. Fine, but an apology isn’t enough.”
Shen Shuangmiao looked up at him in surprise.
In fact, she had already guessed that Zhu Jin would make things difficult for her in this matter.
She was mentally prepared, so she wasn't surprised at all.
She asked calmly, "Then what else do you want?"
Zhu Jin walked step by step toward her.
"Do you really want to know?"
He narrowed his eyes, a dark and unfathomable light flashing within them.
Shen Shuangmiao pursed her lips, looked at him quietly for a few seconds, and then stepped back.
"good."
Zhu Jin turned around and said casually, "Come to my house tonight. I'll take care of things at the studio once you've satisfied me."
Shen Shuangmiao was taken aback when she heard this.
She didn't know if she was overthinking things, involuntarily interpreting Zhu Jin's words in that unspeakable way, or if he really intended to humiliate her in that way.
In short, she sensed an unspeakable hint in Zhu Jin's tone.
It was as if he was implying to her that she would have to offer something physical in exchange for him to do her a favor tonight.
Zhou Wu's eyes flickered, and the smugness on his face vanished.
She glanced at Shen Shuangmiao, then at Zhu Jin, and a bad feeling crept into her heart.
"Ah Jin," why don't you help Miaomiao? She's already come all this way, why wait until tonight to specifically ask her to come to your house to talk? Don't bully her."
Zhu Jin ignored her words. He simply pressed on, "What, you're unwilling?"
Shen Shuangmiao felt as if she had fallen into an ice cellar, and clenched her fists.
She said, enunciating each word clearly, "There's nothing I'm unwilling to do. I'll go over there tonight, and please keep your word. Don't play games with me over this kind of thing; I don't have that much time to waste on you."
After saying this, Shen Shuangmiao left without looking back.
As Zhou Wu watched her figure disappear through the door of the lounge, he slowly frowned.
Unexpectedly, Zhu Jin actually let her leave just like that.
What happens to them at night?
While Zhou Wu was still in shock and uncertainty, he looked at Zhu Jin's expression again.
She said casually, "Miaomiao really didn't mean it just now, so please don't hold a grudge against her because of me."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Jin gave her a deep look.
After a long pause, he said, "Sister Wu, no matter what happens, I will take good care of you and stand by your side, but I don't like roundabout tricks."
After he finished speaking, Zhou Wu was taken aback.
What's going on?
Zhu Jin realized that it wasn't Shen Shuangmiao who pushed her just now?
