Chapter 65, Uncle and nephew meet, their eyes blazing with hatred.
In the evening, the setting sun painted the sky a warm orange-red.
At this moment, Wen Hanyun was carrying a small black bag and wearing high heels, walking slowly down a bustling street in the city center.
This street is the route Yanzhe takes every day to and from her residence and the hospital, a fact she learned from Bai Ke's friend.
She deliberately chose this time to appear, just to create a chance encounter with him.
Wen Hanyun tilted her head slightly, looked around, and revealed a just-right amount of curiosity in her eyes, pretending to be a female tourist who was lost alone in a foreign country.
Her delicate high heels clicked on the pavement, and her designer bag and exquisite makeup quickly attracted some ill-intentioned glances.
In the shadows of the street corner, a thin man was pretending to stare at her casually, his eyes occasionally glancing at the bag on her shoulder.
Wen Hanyun saw all of this out of the corner of her eye. Although she felt a little scared, she still hesitated by the roadside.
Theft and robbery are common here, and being targeted was part of her plan.
If she were to approach Yan Zhe directly, it would definitely arouse his suspicion, so she needed an opportunity to make him take the initiative to approach her.
Wen Hanyun continued to spin in circles, slowed her pace, took out her phone, and pretended to check the map, looking like she had no sense of direction.
Seeing this, the man exchanged a glance with his companion who was guarding the motorcycle, and quietly followed.
When they reached a relatively quiet alleyway, he suddenly rushed up, grabbed Wen Hanyun's bag from her shoulder, and pulled her back forcefully.
"Ah!" Wen Hanyun exclaimed in surprise, instinctively grabbing the bag strap, her body staggering as she was pulled.
As planned, she didn't resist with all her might, but simply tried to make a loud noise, shouting, "Is anyone there? Help!"
The man on the motorcycle rushed over when he saw this, not wanting her screams to attract too many passersby.
Wen Hanyun deliberately loosened one hand, letting the bag strap slip off her shoulder, and at the same time, her body fell to the ground, making her look even more disheveled.
Just then, a familiar figure strode over.
"stop!"
Yan Zhe had just come out of the hospital when he saw someone robbing someone. He was just about to watch the excitement when he was surprised to find that it was Wen Hanyun.
The two men were taken aback when they saw someone they knew suddenly appear.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Yanzhe rushed forward and kicked one of the men, knocking him to the ground.
As more and more people gathered to watch the spectacle, another man, seeing this, was so frightened that he quickly let go of his bag, turned around, got on his motorcycle, and sped away with his companion.
Yan Zhe didn't chase after her, but instead bent down and helped Wen Hanyun up from the ground.
"Hanyun, are you alright?" Yanzhe's gaze fell on her slightly disheveled shoulders, and he swallowed imperceptibly. "Are you hurt?"
"Yan Zhe? It's you..." Wen Hanyun looked up, her eyes red-rimmed, looking quite frightened.
She shook her head, her gaze, filled with surprise and uncertainty, falling on Yan Zhe.
"I'm fine, thank you."
Looking at her pale face and frightened appearance, Yan Zhe felt a surge of inexplicable protectiveness.
"What are you doing here?" Yanzhe asked. "Are you... also here for tourism in Country Y?"
"I...I came here to clear my head," Wen Hanyun said, lowering her head and feigning shyness. "I didn't expect to get lost and even get robbed. Luckily, you saved me..."
As she spoke, she tidied her clothes and hair.
“It’s too crowded and not safe here. Let me take you back,” Yanzhe said, casually slinging her bag over his shoulder, just like he used to carry her bag when they were in college. “You’ve got everything in your bag, haven’t you?”
"No, thank goodness you arrived in time," Wen Hanyun looked up and gave Yan Zhe a grateful smile. "But I haven't found a place to stay yet; I was just about to look for a hotel."
Upon hearing this, Yan Zhe's eyes lit up. "In that case, why don't you stay at my hotel? It's a nice place and quite safe."
Wen Hanyun sneered inwardly, but pretended to hesitate on the surface, "Wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"
“It’s no trouble at all. It’s not safe for a girl like you to find a hotel alone. Let’s just leave it at that,” Yan Zhe added, somewhat trying to cover up his misunderstanding. “Besides, we’ve known each other for a while now, so it’s only right that we help each other out.”
After saying that, he carried Wen Hanyun's bag and walked ahead first, saying, "Let's go, I'll take you there."
Wen Hanyun followed behind him, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Her clenched hands fell limply to her sides, her fingers slightly tightened, and only one thought occupied her mind:
Complete the tests as soon as possible, get the evidence, and then everything will be over!
Along the way, Yanzhe kept talking to Wen Hanyun, asking her about her situation during this time. It seems that he was really suppressed by Yansheng in China, and didn't even have the opportunity to learn about her life, let alone get close to her.
Wen Hanyun responded in a half-hearted manner.
"Hanyun, I've missed you so much all these years."
As they reached the hotel entrance, Yanzhe suddenly stopped, turned around, and looked at Wen Hanyun with a serious expression. "It was my fault back then. I betrayed you in a moment of confusion. I know I was wrong, and I have been regretting it all these years."
"Can you give me one last chance?"
Wen Hanyun felt a surge of disdain in her heart, but on the surface she pretended to be moved.
"Yanzhe," she gently shook her head, "what happened between us is all in the past..."
“I can’t get over it,” Yanzhe suddenly grabbed her hand. “I know I hurt you deeply, but I have really turned over a new leaf.”
"I have been working hard all these years, hoping that one day I can stand in front of you again and make up for the mistakes I made back then."
His hands were very hot, and Wen Hanyun subconsciously tried to break free, but he held on even tighter.
She could feel the sweat seeping from Yan Zhe's palms, and a chill ran down her spine.
The thought that he might also have that disease made her feel even more uncomfortable, and she just wanted to get away from him immediately.
But she knew it wasn't the right time yet.
She had to hold back and continue acting until she received the test sample.
"Yanzhe, don't be like this." Wen Hanyun lowered her head, her voice choked with sobs. "There's no possibility between us anymore."
"Why is it impossible?" Yanzhe still held her hand and asked, "I know you still blame me, but I will prove with my actions that I have changed."
"Hanyun, please give me another chance, okay?"
Wen Hanyun was trying to figure out how to start a conversation to calm him down when she suddenly heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Wen Hanyun!!!"
Wen Hanyun's body stiffened, and she slowly turned around, only to see Yan Sheng standing not far away.
His face was terribly gloomy, and his eyes were fixed on her and Yanzhe's clasped hands.
