Chapter 67, Shall we have a drink?

Chapter 67, Shall we have a drink?

Wen Hanyun's gaze fell on the crystal vase on the coffee table, which contained a few roses.

As if she had thought of something, she took a deep breath and suppressed the discomfort in her heart.

"Yanzhe," she tried to soften her voice, "it's been quite a long time since we last saw each other."

"It's amazing to meet you like this in a foreign country, and I'm so grateful that you saved me, otherwise I really wouldn't know what to do."

Yanzhe's eyes lit up, and he immediately replied, "It's truly fate that we can meet again."

"After we broke up back then, I always thought about when we could sit down and have a proper talk again, but I just never had the chance..."

“Yes,” Wen Hanyun said with a hint of melancholy, “Actually, I’m quite sentimental too, after all, you were my first love.”

"Let's not talk about that anymore. Since we have so much time today, shall we have a drink?"

Her suggestion was exactly what Yanzhe wanted to hear.

He stared at Wen Hanyun's fair face, suppressing the overwhelming joy in his heart.

"Alright, but the wine you buy outside isn't very interesting. I have a few bottles of good wine in my room that a friend brought back for me. They taste great. Would you like to try some?"

"Really? That's great!" Wen Hanyun immediately showed a surprised expression. "I rarely drink alcohol, is it very strong?"

"No, what are you afraid of with me here?" Yan Zhe smiled.

Wen Hanyun rolled her eyes at him with disdain. Wasn't he the biggest danger?

"Wait here, I'll go get it."

As she watched him turn and walk towards the bedroom, the smile in Wen Hanyun's eyes vanished instantly.

She calmly took out a small white medicine bottle from her bag, which was half-filled with powder.

This was a potent sleeping potion she had specially prepared before setting off. It was colorless and odorless, and would cause a person to fall into a deep coma within ten minutes of taking it. After waking up, there would be no major side effects, only some dizziness and weakness.

She carefully poured the powder into two crystal glasses, ensuring the dosage was just enough to make Yanzhe unconscious for two or three hours, enough for her to complete the sampling and leave safely.

Soon, Yanzhe came out carrying an exquisite wooden wine box containing a beautifully packaged bottle of champagne.

"I've been treasuring this wine for a long time, and I haven't been able to bring myself to drink it. Today, I'll open it for you."

As he spoke, he skillfully opened the bottle, and the amber-colored liquid slowly poured into the glass, releasing a faint aroma.

As Wen Hanyun watched him pour the wine, her heart began to race uncontrollably.

She knew that she couldn't afford to make any mistakes from the very beginning. If Yanzhe noticed anything amiss, not only would she not be able to get the samples, but she herself might also be in danger.

“Here, have a taste,” Yanzhe handed one of the glasses to her, staring at her intently. “This wine isn’t low in alcohol, but it’s very smooth. It should suit your taste.”

Wen Hanyun took the wine glass, but didn't drink it immediately. Instead, she held the glass up and swirled it gently, smiling as she said, "It looks very good. Thank you, Yanzhe."

"Why are you being so polite with me?" Yan Zhe raised his glass. "Come on, cheers, to our reunion."

"Cheers." Wen Hanyun raised her glass and gently clinked it against his, making a crisp sound.

She took a small sip, letting the liquid flow over her tongue to ensure that most of the powder remained in her mouth.

Seeing that she had actually drunk it, Yan Zhe also tilted his head back and took a big gulp, his eyes burning even more intensely, "Han Yun, actually I have never forgotten you all these years, I think about you every day."

"I was out of my mind back then and did something I'm ashamed of. I really regret it."

Wen Hanyun smiled perfunctorily, took another small sip from her cup, and observed his reaction discreetly.

"Let's not dwell on the past," she said softly. "Aren't we doing just fine as we are now?"

“No,” Yan Zhe put down his wine glass and suddenly grabbed her hand. “That’s not what I want. I want you back in my life, and for us to start over.”

"Hanyun, give me a chance, I will definitely make it up to you."

His palms were burning hot, and Wen Hanyun gently pulled her hand away: "Yanzhe, let's drink first, we can talk about these things later."

Yan Zhe assumed she was just shy and didn't press her. He poured himself another glass of wine, drank it all in one gulp, and kept talking about the past, mostly praising himself and belittling Yan Sheng.

Wen Hanyun responded half-heartedly, silently counting down the time in her mind.

About seven or eight minutes later, she saw that Yanzhe's eyes began to glaze over, his speech became slurred, and his face turned an unnatural red.

"Hanyun, why do I feel... a little dizzy?"

Yan Zhe shook his head, trying to open his eyes wide, but he couldn't concentrate at all.

Wen Hanyun knew the drug was starting to take effect.

But she still had a worried expression on her face, and reached out to support his arm. "Yanzhe, what's wrong? Did you drink too fast?"

"Maybe..." Yan Zhe's body began to sway, his voice growing softer and softer, "I'm starting to lose my balance..."

As soon as he finished speaking, his body fell straight down onto the sofa.

Wen Hanyun let go of his hand and watched him fall heavily onto the sofa. His eyes closed quickly, and his breathing became even.

After confirming that Yan Zhe had lost consciousness, Wen Han Yun immediately got up.

She took the sealed bag out of the book, quickly walked to the sofa, and squatted down.

Yan Zhe's hair is rather stiff, with a few barely noticeable white hairs mixed in with the black, suggesting that he has been under a lot of pressure lately.

Wen Hanyun held her breath, pinched a few strands of hair with her fingertips, pulled hard, and then quickly put the hair into a sealed bag and tightened the seal.

After carefully checking and confirming that there were no problems, I put the sealed bag back into the wallet's inner compartment.

After doing all this, she didn't look at Yanzhe again, turned around, picked up her bag, and left quickly.

She gently closed the door and turned to walk into the elevator.

As the elevator descended, Wen Hanyun breathed a sigh of relief, her tense nerves finally relaxing a bit.

Wen Hanyun hailed a taxi at the intersection and headed towards the flower shop. On the way, she watched the street scenes rushing past the window and pondered in her heart.

On the one hand, she breathed a sigh of relief that the sample had been successfully obtained and the plan was half completed. On the other hand, the thought of her argument with Yansheng and the disappointed look in his eyes made her heart ache.

She knew how hurtful her words had been, but only by getting Yan Sheng away would Yan Zhe not become suspicious, and only then could her plan proceed smoothly.

but......

Even though everything is over now, she doesn't want to explain to Yansheng.

He wronged him, and she hurt him in return.

They no longer have a reason to start over.

It was already late at night when I got back to the flower shop.

Lina left the door open for her; she had already gone back to her apartment, and the shop was quiet.
