Chapter 49, Did you have a fight with your boyfriend?
"Okay, I understand." Wen Hanyun nodded obediently.
The car drove smoothly on the highway, and in the night, the shadows of the trees illuminated by the streetlights flashed quickly across the car window.
Yan Sheng stared intently at the road ahead.
"Oh, right," Wen Hanyun suddenly remembered something, "I heard from your older brother that... because you defended me, your father's attitude towards you seems to be not very good?"
Yan Sheng glanced at her, a gentle smile playing on his lips: "I'll tell you these things later; now is not the time."
The Yan family is a complicated place, and he didn't want her to know too much about the negative aspects of the family. He just wanted her to do what she liked in peace.
Leave the shady dealings and scheming to him.
.
Just two days after the band's first residency at the livehouse ended, several clips casually recorded by audience members have already quietly gone viral on social media.
Initially, only a few local music bloggers shared and interpreted the story. However, just two days later, the official vlog was released, and the topic of this unknown band skyrocketed, soaring to the top of the trending searches.
The people present in the video blended together perfectly, creating an amazing chemistry.
Under the spotlight, the most eye-catching woman wore a gothic-style long dress, her fingertips flying across the strings of a piano. The close-up shot at the end was captured and went viral online.
"I'm a sucker for good looks, this is such a goddess!"
"Does anyone who knows anything about this think she's at this level?"
"Does anyone remember that the president of Yan Corporation publicly pursued her before? I wonder if it turned out to be successful?"
"Look at the ring on her middle finger, it's obviously a done deal! Student counselor, come quick, I'm feeling uneasy!"
"A free-spirited and unrestrained female guitarist × a restrained and aloof older wealthy tycoon, both sides are completely outmatched."
"Upstairs, the bookstore is smashing up."
The atmosphere in the comments section was generally positive, with some music industry professionals also offering their praise.
A well-known domestic music producer forwarded the video and publicly invited them to be guests on the tour. In no time, the band's private messages were flooded with business collaborations and performance invitations.
Looking at the surge in followers and the constant stream of collaboration requests in the background, Yu Zhimu smiled and said, "Everyone is really awesome. We've made a name for ourselves this time."
The hype came unexpectedly, but none of the band members were blinded by fame and fortune. They always knew that this was just a small-scale test, and the final result would have to wait until the official release in a few weeks. Wieland also stepped in to screen collaborations for them, rejecting overly commercial offers that didn't fit their style, leaving only a few high-quality small-scale shows.
Wen Hanyun and her team continue to rehearse every week, and no matter how full their schedules are, they always make sure to leave enough time to work out the details before the performance.
As the band's small shows progressed, their popularity gradually grew, and everything was moving in a positive direction. Everyone was looking forward to the day when the band would embark on their first official tour.
Wen Hanyun was busy with rehearsals, performances, and work coordination, while Yan Sheng's cooperation with the Qin family had entered a crucial stage.
Due to the importance of this collaboration, Yansheng devoted himself almost entirely to it, spending his days in the conference room and his nights dealing with mountains of documents, and business trips became a regular occurrence.
Such situations are becoming more and more frequent. Sometimes, Wen Hanyun would be overjoyed and want to take him out for a stroll, only to find that he had fallen asleep after a day of meetings, and his phone screen was still stuck on the meeting interface.
Sometimes, the two wouldn't see each other for an entire week, only able to exchange a few words via video call, with the conversation mostly revolving around their respective work.
Noticing Wen Hanyun's bad mood, after the performance, Yu Zhimu gave Bai Ge a wink, and Bai Ge immediately understood and pulled the group to dinner.
"Sister, did you have a fight with your boyfriend? You haven't seemed very happy lately, and the driver has been picking you up alone all the time."
Wen Hanyun casually stirred the soup in her bowl and shook her head. "We didn't argue. We've just been too busy and haven't seen each other much lately."
"No matter how busy I am, I can't neglect you!" Bai Ge said indignantly on her behalf. "But sister, you're doing so well right now, your career might not be much worse than his in the future."
"Don't worry," Wen Hanyun gave her a reassuring smile, "He has always been very supportive of me."
“I think Xiaobai is right. You can’t carry this burden on your own.” Yu Zhimu frowned. “Last time you had a high fever, I was the one who took you to the hospital.”
"With such a demanding job and no family around, how about... moving in with me?"
"No need," Wen Hanyun smiled. "I'll take good care of myself."
Speaking of this, Wen Hanyun felt a pang of sadness.
She rehearsed until late at night that day, and perhaps because she was exposed to too much cold wind, she suddenly felt weak all over. Yu Zhimu happened to notice something was wrong and quickly took her to the hospital.
Wen Hanyun was afraid that Yansheng would worry, so she didn't dare to tell him. It wasn't until the next morning that he learned from the housekeeper that she hadn't returned home all night, so he canceled his schedule and rushed to the hospital to be with her.
She laughed at him, saying, "I'm an adult, it's just a cold, why make such a fuss?"
Even so, I still couldn't help feeling a little empty inside.
Wen Hanyun understood his busy schedule and knew the pressure on his shoulders. This cooperation with the Qin family was crucial for him to gain a foothold, and there could be no mistakes.
While it's understandable, deep down she still longs for his company, and those joys and grievances that she can't share with anyone will still unexpectedly well up in her heart.
“That won’t work either. What if you get sick on the way?” Yu Zhimu came up with a compromise. “At least we’ll make sure you get home safely after each performance.”
That evening, Yansheng returned from a business trip to another province. He deliberately ended his work early and bought Wen Hanyun's favorite dishes, wanting to surprise her when he got home.
He had just walked downstairs when he saw Wen Hanyun returning surrounded by band members. The group was chatting and laughing, and Wen Hanyun had a bright smile on her face that he hadn't seen in a long time.
He stood in the shadows, watching her and Yu Zhimu discuss the upcoming arrangement, and watching Bai Ge try to make her happy with a grin.
When Wen Hanyun looked up, she saw him. Her smile faltered for a moment, then she quickly walked over: "You're back? Why didn't you tell me beforehand?"
"Of course I wanted to surprise you," Yan Sheng stepped forward, naturally took the violin case from her hand, and showed her the fresh ingredients in his hand. "Just finished a performance? Are you tired? I'll make you something delicious in a bit."
"It's alright, but I've already had dinner." Wen Hanyun looked at the bloodshot eyes and knew that he must have been working late into the night again.
