Chapter 14, his movements suddenly froze, that voice...
"You mean Mr. Yan? He went to the second floor of the auditorium, and... he shouldn't have left yet."
After asking the staff about Yan Sheng's whereabouts, Wen Hanyun thanked them and jogged back.
As I passed a storage room on the second floor, I happened to hear faint sounds of arguing.
"I'll never do it again! Just let me go, I'll do anything you want!"
Wen Hanyun subconsciously slowed her pace. The room was dimly lit, but it sounded very noisy.
Do you want to continue listening?
Reason told her she shouldn't meddle, but curiosity compelled her to slowly approach.
"Anything is acceptable?"
The man deliberately slowed down his speech, and his simple words sent chills down one's spine.
Wen Hanyun froze abruptly; that voice...
It's Yansheng!
"Miss Xie, it shouldn't be difficult for you to keep pestering Yan Zhe, right?"
"If you can do it, I can spare your life as a reward."
Unexpectedly, his request was this. Xie Xiaoyu was stunned for only a few seconds before quickly agreeing, "I agree, don't worry, I will definitely do it!"
"You'd better keep your word, or I won't mind using some special methods."
The conversation inside the door continued.
Outside the door, Wen Hanyun squatted on the ground, covering her mouth tightly.
Why is it that even the person she gradually lowered her guard and slowly trusted was a fake?
It turns out that Yansheng and Xie Xiaoyu had been in contact for a long time, and Xie Xiaoyu's appearance may even have been his doing!
Why exactly?
In Yan Sheng's eyes, was she a chess piece in the game, or a dispensable pastime?
Or perhaps, both.
Why Yansheng could appear so precisely whenever she embarrassed herself, saving her from disaster, and the ambiguous, seemingly close yet distant relationship—now everything makes sense.
This made her feelings for him seem so foolish and ridiculous.
As if her soul had been ripped away, Wen Hanyun shed tears blankly. When she got up to leave, her legs staggered and she almost fell.
"Who's outside!"
Yan Sheng looked up alertly.
The bodyguards immediately chased after them.
"Boss, there's no one outside."
"Alright, you guys keep a close eye on her. Also, cancel my schedule for tomorrow night; I have something very important to do."
"......"
Hiding behind the bushes, Wen Hanyun slowly got up, pressing her wildly beating heart. She stood there, pale-faced, for a long while before she reacted.
She walked quickly down the road, forcing herself to calm down, and casually tossed the cufflinks, which she had been holding warm, into the grass by the roadside, as if throwing away superfluous emotions.
.
On the weekend, Yansheng arrived at the agreed-upon restaurant early.
Wen Hanyun pushed open the glass door and walked in. The light shone on her, making her look as if she were coated with gold leaf.
She wore a casual outfit in the same color scheme and light makeup, yet these casual clothes looked inexplicably lively and cute on her, making her effortlessly beautiful.
Wen Hanyun walked through the hall and her gaze quickly locked onto Yan Sheng, who was sitting by the window.
Yan Sheng looked up and met those beautiful almond-shaped eyes, and his heart skipped a beat.
Even after just one day apart, she had undergone an inexplicable change.
Yan Sheng stood up and waved to her.
Wen Hanyun suppressed her mixed emotions and walked towards Yansheng.
"Sorry to keep you waiting."
Her voice also became much colder.
Yan Sheng paused slightly, then smiled and said, "I arrived earlier."
Then, his gaze swept over Wen Hanyun's slightly red eyes, "What's wrong? Didn't you sleep well last night?"
She looks like she's been crying.
"A little," Wen Hanyun replied absentmindedly.
Yan Sheng pushed the menu toward Wen Hanyun.
He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but she seemed a bit quieter today.
"You choose," he said with a smile, starting the conversation.
Wen Hanyun waved and called over the waiter, "What would Mr. Yan like to eat?"
Upon hearing this address, Yan Sheng's eyes darkened noticeably.
The waiters nearby curiously observed the two people with their strange auras.
Suddenly, a cold gaze fell upon him, sending chills down his spine.
"Then please put up the sign. Thank you for your trouble." Wen Hanyun remained unmoved and gave the order indifferently.
The waiter took the menu with a sigh of relief and quickly disappeared.
Yan Sheng's smile remained unchanged as he stared intently at Wen Hanyun, as if trying to see right through her. "Hanyun, do you have something urgent to do later?"
Under such gazes, Wen Hanyun simply lowered her eyes indifferently and replied in a normal tone, "No."
After a long while, Yansheng spoke again and asked:
"What happened to you? Can you tell me?"
Sensing the probing in his words, Wen Hanyun sneered inwardly and raised her glass of red wine.
"You've already helped me enough, there's no need for you to bother anymore."
"I'll toast you this glass as a thank you for helping me that day."
As intelligent as Yan Sheng is, it's impossible for him not to understand the meaning behind her words.
Human relationships are about give and take, coming and going.
Once he accepts the toast she offers, it signifies the end of their connection.
Yan Sheng paused for a moment, then got up and sat down next to Wen Hanyun.
Feeling her body suddenly stiffen, he grabbed her hand and turned her around.
"Hanyun, what happened? What's wrong? I can help you solve it."
He can give her time to adjust, but that doesn't mean he can accept her repeatedly and inexplicably distancing herself from him!
Yan Sheng gently pulled her into his arms, and through her soft hair, he restrainedly placed a kiss on her forehead.
In an instant, Wen Hanyun's mind went blank.
Almost simultaneously, she pushed with all her might, causing the unsuspecting Yan Sheng to stumble.
"Excuse me, I need to go to the restroom."
A flicker of panic and apology crossed her eyes, followed by utter resolve.
fraud!
She, Wen Hanyun, will not make the same foolish mistake again!
The cold water from the bathroom splashing on her face helped clear her confused thoughts.
The woman in the mirror looked forlorn, her eyes filled with lingering weariness.
She took a deep breath, straightened her clothes, and turned to leave the cubicle.
"Oh, isn't this Teacher Wen?"
"Haven't seen you for a few days, where are you planning to fish for a rich guy now?"
As soon as I entered the corridor, I was blocked by several familiar figures.
"You got to show off Mr. Yan's power last time, but you won't be so lucky this time." The bespectacled old teacher was the first to attack, wanting to get back the face he had lost before.
The people around her chimed in, "But judging from her outfit, she's probably been dumped, right?"
Wen Hanyun was in a bad mood and was about to give the person a good scolding when a strong hand suddenly grabbed her shoulder and pulled her close.
