Chapter 37, Being Kept?

Chapter 37, Being Kept?

The Buddha then walked over and instructed his subordinates:

"Please ask them to leave. From now on, there's no need to send invitations to the Wei and Su families anymore."

Wei Wei's tears fell instantly, but she didn't dare to defend herself. After all, no one present could bear the blame for smearing the Qin family.

"Miss Wei, please remember to take care of your health in the future."

Qin Ling, holding Wen Hanyun's arm, smiled at her, her tone devoid of any sympathy.

Two bodyguards in black quickly stepped forward, helped up the limp Wei Wei and the ashen-faced Su Wenjing, and escorted them out of the banquet hall.

Yan Sheng walked to Wen Hanyun's side and gently hooked her hand with his fingertips.

"That's amazing, Teacher Wen."

"It's just self-preservation."

Wen Hanyun's palms itched, and she pressed down on his mischievous fingers, but little did she know that this was exactly what he wanted.

He squeezed her hand back, "Then Teacher Wen, you must protect me from now on."

"......"

There was no excuse left for her to stay at home today. Despite his reluctance, Yansheng still had to send her back to the school's staff dormitory.

The next morning, Wen Hanyun finished washing up and went downstairs. As soon as she stepped out of the building, she saw Yansheng.

"Good morning, Teacher Wen."

Seeing the man's gentle smile, Wen Hanyun, who was still a little sleepy, immediately smiled and said, "Good morning."

There were no classes in the morning, so the two of them went to the office together. They were organizing the teaching materials from the past few days when the department head knocked on the door and came in. "Professor Wen, the college is planning to have you take the lead in organizing this year's freshman association meeting and have the second-year students put on a small performance."

"A freshman performance?" Wen Hanyun asked curiously. "In previous years, it was always the freshmen who performed?"

"Professor Wen, you've been very popular this year, and you've even made our A University quite famous online... This arrangement is the principal's idea. Please don't refuse; just think of it as leading the second-year students to welcome the new students."

The department head chuckled and handed her a program, saying, "You can do the opening, and we'll also invite you to be a judge this time."

Wen Hanyun picked up the notification slip and hesitated for a moment.

"I understand, I will finalize the program as soon as possible."

She folded the notification and stuffed it into her lesson plan, while sending a text message to Qin Ling on her phone.

"Yansheng, I'm going to the music room."

"Go..."

Wen Hanyun didn't have to wait long before Qin Ling arrived at the music room. "Sister Wen, did you call me here because of something at school?"

She stepped forward, inserted a straw into the milk tea she was holding, and handed it to him.

"No, it's to put me in charge of the freshman association's program." Wen Hanyun took it naturally, took a sip of milk tea, "I want to form a small band. I'll play guitar, but we need a lead singer. Ah Ling, would you like to come?"

Qin Ling's eyes lit up instantly, and she grabbed her hand and shook it, "Going with Sister Wen? Of course!"

Wen Hanyun was shaken helplessly. "I chose a song. It's a song I've rearranged before, and it'll be perfect to use this time."

She walked to the instrument rack, removed the dust cover from the electric guitar, and plugged in the power to the amplifier.

After adjusting the pitch and gently strumming the strings, a series of chord notes emerged.

"Listen to the melody first. This song is quite famous; you should be familiar with it..."

The distorted tone of the electric guitar exploded, and Wen Hanyun closed her eyes, instantly getting into the zone.

After playing a prelude, she turned to look at Qin Ling.

"So? Can you sing the chorus?"

Qin Ling nodded and cleared her throat.

When Wen Hanyun started singing again, she followed suit.

Qin Ling's voice is indeed very good, with a youthful energy that perfectly matches Wen Hanyun's playing style.

The two of them just kept arguing in the music room.

Looking at Wen Hanyun's profile as she played the guitar with her eyes half-closed, Qin Ling suddenly said, "Sister Wen, I've noticed that the way you play the electric guitar is completely different from how you usually are."

Wen Hanyun looked up, her fingertips still resting on the guitar strings. "Really?"

“Of course, I saw a video of you playing the guitar that was posted online before, and I was immediately attracted by your appearance,” Qin Ling sat down next to her and nudged her. “You’re a gentle and beautiful teacher in class, but you’re obviously happier when you play this, like there are stars in your eyes.”

Wen Hanyun smiled but didn't say anything, and then plucked the strings again.

For the next few days, the two spent almost all their time in the music room except for class time.

Wen Hanyun not only had to play the guitar, but also had to arrange the music. She made a simple backing track, and Qin Ling worked with her to repeatedly practice and ensure that the two of them had enough chemistry when they went on stage.

“Perfect,” Qin Ling finished singing the last line, then casually found a place to sit down and rest. “Don’t you think Sister Wen and I have great chemistry?”

Wen Hanyun turned off the speakers, and the music room instantly fell silent.

She wiped her sweat and nodded, saying, "That's about it. I should be fine going on stage."

"Sister Wen is too modest! I dare say you'll be the most eye-catching person on stage that day!"

Wen Hanyun praised without reservation: "Our A-Ling is also great."

Qin Ling turned her head away somewhat embarrassedly, her face slightly flushed.

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside the door.

"Teacher Wen, the vice principal wants to see you in his office."

The department head, panting heavily, pushed open the door to the music room with a furrowed brow. "Something's happened. The vice-principal looks terrible. You... try not to talk back to him."

"What happened?" Qin Ling stood up abruptly and asked with concern.

"It's hard to say. As a student, it's best if you don't discuss this matter," the department head shook his head. "Go ahead, Professor Wen."

"Don't worry, A-Ling, I'll be right back." Wen Hanyun put down her guitar and smiled reassuringly at Qin Ling.

After leaving the music room, it took less than two minutes to reach the vice principal's office.

The department head knocked on the door, led Wen Hanyun inside, and then closed the door behind them.

Upon entering, Wen Hanyun immediately sensed that something was amiss. The vice principal sat upright behind his desk, holding a teacup and looking at her with a serious expression.

Several school leaders sat on a sofa nearby, some of them watching the show with amusement, while a few female teachers wore expressions of disgust and disdain.

Upon seeing Wen Hanyun enter, the vice principal said, "Come and sit down."

Although they were supposed to be sitting, the only empty chair was placed opposite everyone, as if it had been reserved specifically for a prisoner about to be interrogated.

Wen Hanyun frowned, glanced at the people staring at her, and then walked to her desk.

"No need, Principal, please just say it."

"Sit down when we tell you to, why are you arguing with us like this?"

One of the female teachers, with a pointed chin, scoffed, clearly harboring deep resentment towards her.
