Chapter 320: Nothing

On the way back, Chen Yuan was still very curious about what Bai Lan said.

Questioning and investigating along the way.

But Ayao is the strictest and never tells the truth.

"Nothing."

In the back seat, A Yao curled her lips and made up a lie.

Shen Yuan didn't even notice anything unusual about his calm appearance.

"It was just a normal conversation. We didn't say anything extraneous. But you kept chatting with Gu Jiju. You must have disturbed his work, right?"

Naturally, Chen Yuan would not take the initiative to talk to Gu Jiju.

If Gu Jiju hadn't brought up the topic, the office would probably have remained silent.

Facing A Yao's question, Chen Yuan did not answer.

A pair of black pupils flashed sharply, and after a while, he gave the order:

"I'll take you back to the Wen family to rest first, and then you can go back to school in a few days. If there's anything you're not used to, feel free to tell me. The people in the Wen family are easy to get along with, so there shouldn't be any trouble."

A Yao didn't say anything and fell into silence again sitting in the back seat.

The seeds of doubt were deeply planted in Shen Yuan's heart.

When I returned to the Wen family, Wen Su came to look for Chen Yuan.

A Yao had just changed her clothes when Wen Su pushed the door open.

In an instant, A Yao was frightened and panicked, and Wen Su also stood at the door, not knowing what to do.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know you had guests."

Chen Yuan came out of the bathroom and came to Wen Su's rescue with a smile.

"He's not a guest. He's my adopted child. His name is Ayao."

Chen Yuan pulled Wen Su in and enthusiastically introduced their identities to both parties.

But A Yao was unhappy, as if she was very resistant to the word "adoption".

Whenever the word 'adoption' is mentioned, A-Yao's face will fall.

It’s a pity that Chen Yuan never noticed or felt A Yao’s emotions.

"Adopted?"

Wen Su, on the other hand, had sharp eyes and was always observing A Yao's every move.

When her identity was mentioned, a hint of obvious gloom flashed across the child's eyes.

This made Wen Su frown, and she immediately pulled Chen Yuan out.

"Are you sure that you adopted this child and have a good relationship with him?"

The door was closed, and Wen Su asked in a low voice, but her question made Shen Yuan a little puzzled.

"Of course, but I'm not sure whether the relationship is good or not... This child has been emotionally unstable lately, sometimes unwilling to talk, and I don't know much about her, so..."

Chen Yuan sighed deeply and said with great regret:

"As for being close, it doesn't seem to be that close, so I don't know how to respond."

Wen Su patted her shoulder, as if he had something to say.

But she stood at the door, always worried that A Yao would hear her.

"I can tell you, A-Yao is no ordinary child. She's very sensitive, and you can tell at a glance, especially since... you just said A-Yao was your adopted child, and she's very resistant to this identity."

It was probably due to Wen Su's personality that made her observe more carefully than Chen Yuan.

The reminders that Wen Su spoke out were all things that Shen Yuan had never noticed before.

Sure enough, Shen Yuan's ears perked up and he felt unbelievable.

"Resistance? But when we first communicated, she didn't refute my opinion..."

"Not refuting and resisting are two different things. You'd better pay attention to this child's mental health and stop her from overthinking it. You should also communicate more with her about her identity."

After all, this is a private matter between the two of them.

Wen Su didn't want to say much, let alone get involved.

After the reminder, Wen Su went to the guest room to take care of her own business, leaving Chen Yuan alone in the room, trying to test A Yao's thoughts.

"Ayao, at school... has anyone ever asked about your family?"

"Or, what do you think of our relationship? Would you be upset if someone said you were adopted?"

A Yao didn't say anything, but just focused on the things in his hands. It took him a while to respond.

"No, and I won't."

These two brief answers were the result of A Yao's continuous efforts to calm his heart.

She is good at disguising herself, and now she is hiding all her emotions in order to avoid being discovered by Shen Yuan as much as possible.

Sure enough, Shen Yuan didn't investigate further.

"How about this? The Wen family has more guest rooms. You can sleep next to me today. Once we've contacted the school, I'll take you back. Is that okay?"

A Yao nodded but said nothing.

Chen Yuan thought that she had tacitly agreed to his actions, and immediately took his things and settled in the guest room next door.

As the door closed, A Yao's heart sank.

Unexpectedly, in the evening, Bai Lan took the initiative to contact A Yao and called her directly on her cell phone.

"You haven't changed your mind about what I told you this day, have you? We can meet and talk anytime if you're willing. What do you think?"

A Yao responded cautiously in a deep voice.

"Yes, thank you."

"Why are you thanking me for anything? After all, Mr. Gu has needed a woman to take care of and support him over the years. I think that although you are young, your personality is suitable for Mr. Gu. If I can really bring you two together, I will be considered a matchmaker!"

A Yao was stunned and flattered.

"Really? I'm sorry to bother you..."

"Do you have time to meet tomorrow? If possible, I'll pick you up and we can sit down and talk about this. We didn't have time to continue the conversation when we met in the office last time."

"I'm not sure either. If I have time, I'll contact you."

As he said this, Chen Yuan's door just opened and closed.

She went out in the middle of the night and wanted to go downstairs to get some water.
