Chapter 16 A Brief Awakening

Mu Chen nodded approvingly and said apologetically, "Mu Ci certainly doesn't want you to get involved in these conspiracies, but he was born into the Mu family, and there are some things he can't help!"

Zhou Shuo shook his head nonchalantly. "It doesn't matter. Master said, 'Take off your shoes when you cross a river, and sing the song that suits the mountain you're on.' Since it's so dangerous around my brother, I have to stay by his side to protect him. At least I can make sure he doesn't get poisoned or sick!"

Mu Chen originally thought that he would have to spend some effort to persuade Zhou Shuo, after all, she looked very much like a little white rabbit. However, he did not expect that this child's ability to accept things would be so strong. This made him like the girl in front of him even more.

That night, Zhou Shuo rejected the kindness of Liu Ming and Lao Jiang to keep watch for her, and slept next to Mu Ci's bed to prevent Mu Ci from having a relapse at night. After all, this was her first time to solve such a difficult disease independently.

That night, she didn't dare to sleep soundly. She still knelt at the head of the bed and slept half asleep and half awake. As expected, Mu Ci had a fever again at night.

Seeing that the temperature was not high, Zhou Shuo used physical cooling methods and applied acupuncture on important acupuncture points. He worked until dawn, and finally the temperature stabilized.

Zhou Shuo murmured, "Brother Shitou, you must do your best and get better. I'm almost exhausted. Don't let me down."

Hearing Mu Ci's breathing steady, Zhou Shuo yawned, then dozed off on the edge of the bed with his arm as a pillow. However, he was still thinking about Mu Ci and couldn't sleep well. When the sunlight shone through the gap in the curtains onto his face, Zhou Shuo tried to pull himself together, stretched, and stood up to stretch his muscles. Unexpectedly, his feet went numb and he fell to the ground.

"Ouch." Although the carpet was very thick, Zhou Shuo still felt pain in his butt.

"Zhou Shuo." Mu Ci called her name softly.

Zhou Shuo jumped up and said, "Brother, are you awake?"

Mu Ci opened his eyes and looked at Zhou Shuo.

Zhou Shuo reached out and felt Mu Ci's pulse, giving him a bright smile: "The pulse is much better than yesterday, it's starting to get stronger. Is it still painful, brother?"

Mu Ci nodded slowly: "It hurts, but it's much better than yesterday."

Zhou Shuo hurriedly said, "Let's keep working hard today. It will be better. Brother, you must hold on! It will definitely be okay!"

Mu Ci's lips curled up slightly: "Okay, Zhou Shuo, it's great that you're here."

Zhou Shuo's smile became even brighter.

Mu Ci said softly, "When I was eight years old, I woke up and saw your little you. Your smile was just like it is now, so beautiful."

Zhou Shuo chuckled: "Brother actually remembered. I named you Stone because I hoped you could be as hard as a rock. But look at you, you still messed yourself up."

Mu Ci smiled: "I can't do it without you. Don't leave me in the future."

Zhou Shuo nodded: "Okay! I won't leave you. I have nowhere else to go anyway. Your house is so big, please take me in!"

Mu Ci looked at Zhou Shuo, and the satisfaction in his heart overcame the pain in his body.

This girl doesn’t understand feelings yet, but it doesn’t matter, it’s fine this way.

He slowly closed his eyes; he was so tired.

"Brother, you take a nap first. I'll go make the medicine and bring you some porridge." Zhou Shuo rubbed the acupuncture points on his hands. Mu Ci suddenly felt the pain subsided and he felt sleepy.

When Zhou Shuo went out, he saw Liu Ming guarding the door and hurriedly said, "Uncle Liu, I'm going to make some medicine. My brother just woke up a while ago. Can you help me keep an eye on him?"

"Yes, Madam." Liu Ming also hadn't slept all night and had too many things to deal with, but when he heard Mu Ci woke up, he couldn't help but cheer up and immediately pushed the door and entered the bedroom.

While Zhou Shuo was boiling the medicine, she asked Xiaoling and Xiaobai to help her cook some thick porridge. Sick people need to maintain their physical strength, and the pain is not pleasant!

Xiaobai cooked porridge while Xiaoling quickly prepared breakfast for Zhou Shuo: "Madam, we don't have enough people. Please make do with what I made for now."

Zhou Shuo's eyes lit up as she looked at the sandwich Xiao Ling brought her: "That's not called settling, Xiao Ling, you're so nice!"

She took a bite of the sandwich and gave Xiaoling a thumbs up.

Xiaobai served her a small bowl of porridge that was still cooking: "Young Madam, please try it. It will warm your stomach."

Zhou Shuo took a sip of the porridge and gave Xiaobai a thumbs-up: "It's delicious, really delicious."

The two girls felt a little embarrassed by her praise. After what happened last night, they realized clearly that this family belonged to the young master and the young mistress, and there would be no good end for anyone who dared to go against them!

Suddenly, a voice came from outside: "Where are all the people? Why is there no one here?"

Zhou Shuo frowned. It was Mu Ci’s mother Duan Si.

Xiao Ling quickly put down the things in her hands and whispered, "It's the Madam, Young Madam. I'll go and entertain her first. There's no one else at home. Please take care of the Young Master's medicine first."

Zhou Shuo did not object.

The medicine was ready, and Xiaobai's porridge was also ready. The two of them served them up, and Xiaobai brought it on a tray, and they went upstairs together.

As soon as I walked into the living room on the first floor, I saw a beautiful woman sitting next to Duan Si.

Duan Si saw her and said, "Stop!"

Zhou Shuo asked Xiaobai to bring the medicine and porridge upstairs first, then looked at Duan Si: "You called me?"

Duan Si said with a cold face: "That's right! Besides you, is there anyone else in this family?"

Zhou Shuo pointed at Xiao Ling and said, "Yes, there are Xiao Ling and Xiao Bai as well, right?"

Duan Si said angrily: "You——"

Zhou Shuo looked puzzled.

Instead, the girl next to Duan Si stood up, extended her hand toward her, and said softly, "Are you Zhou Shuo? Hello, I'm Song Nan."
