Mu Chen took the bowl and asked casually, "Well, he's always been filial. What has he been busy with these days? Why haven't I seen him bothering me?"
Duan Si placed another bowl of soup in front of Mu Ci, saying, "He's busy with work too. Mu Ci, this is a gift from your brother. Drink it. You've lost weight lately. Don't always eat those bland soups! Pay attention to nutrition. We're not some small family that hasn't seen the world. What kind of top-quality ingredients can't we afford? Your health is the most important thing. Don't be hard on yourself with your diet!"
After saying that, she glanced at Zhou Shuo intentionally or unintentionally.
Zhou Shuo glanced at the soup that Duan Si placed in front of Mu Ci. Just as he was about to speak, Mu Ci picked up the vegetarian soup she made, took a sip, then another sip, and motioned Zhou Shuo to sit down.
"Thank you, Mom! The medicine I've been taking lately shouldn't be used with greasy food. Zhou Shuo, bring the white marble bracelet I put on the bookshelf and ask Uncle Liu to give it to Mu En. He'll definitely like it." Mu Ci's tone was calm and gentle, but the way he handled it was impeccable.
Mu Chen couldn't help but nodded slightly.
Zhou Shuo stood up, and Liu Ming hurriedly said, "Madam, I'll go get it."
Duan Si's face looked very bad, and seeing Zhou Shuo's even more hostile gaze, he couldn't help but said, "I don't think your condition has improved at all! On the contrary, your appetite has become worse. You used to be able to eat some of the dishes made by the kitchen helpers, but now all you can eat are some porridge and side dishes. I think you should see a regular doctor, Dad! Don't you agree? I'm doing this for Mu Ci's own good!"
Before Mu Chen and Mu Ci could say anything, Duan Si sat down with red eyes, "Why do you despise me so much? You won't even eat a bite of the food I made for you. How could I possibly have any ill intentions towards my own child? I always feel like I'm a stepmother and you don't like me. Do you want me to dig my heart out and show it to you before you acknowledge me as your mother?"
As she spoke, tears fell from her eyes.
Mu Chen's face looked a little unhappy.
Mu Ci whispered to Zhou Shuo, "I want to drink some honey water."
Zhou Shuo hurriedly got up and went to the kitchen. To be honest, Zhou Shuo couldn't understand Duan Si. Her own biological mother turned a blind eye to her and even had disgust written on her face.
But Duan Si had a completely different approach. Even she could feel that the eldest lady did not like her son, but she insisted that her son not care about her dislike and should do everything a son should do, including not resisting emotionally.
Zhou Shuo sighed and prepared a cup of honey water for Mu Ci. This was also the honey she carefully selected. She used to let Mu Ci drink a cup when he was in a bad mood. It seemed that Mu Ci was not in a good mood now.
When she turned back, Duan Si's expression was no longer so ugly, and even had a hint of pride.
Zhou Shuo's gaze fell on the soup bowl in front of Mu Ci. Sure enough, the bowl was empty. Zhou Shuo sighed in his heart again.
Mu Ci urged the wheelchair and said calmly, "I'm done eating. Grandpa, Mom, take your time. I'll go upstairs to take care of some things first."
He took the water cup from Zhou Shuo and said softly, "Let's eat."
Duan Si stood up and said, "Dad, I'm done eating too. Enjoy your meal. I'm going back now and will come to see you another day."
He glared at her fiercely as he walked past Zhou Shuo.
Mu Chen felt helpless and called Zhou Shuo, "Girl, come and have dinner with grandpa."
Mu Chen put a piece of food into Zhou Shuo's bowl with his chopsticks and sighed, "Your mother-in-law is always confused. Don't take it to heart. Let her make a fuss. Mu Ci is feeling miserable. This child, ah."
"Grandpa, I understand. I will stay with him well." Zhou Shuo promised softly.
Mu Chen nodded, "Well, good boy, thank goodness for you."
Mu Chen looked around and lowered his voice, "I think his condition is getting better and better. Girl, how long will it take for him to fully recover?"
Zhou Shuo said, "If everything goes smoothly like this, I'll be able to recover in about a year."
Mu Chen's brows immediately lit up with joy. "Great, that's great, little girl. Grandpa really doesn't know how to thank you enough! You are our Mu family's lucky star! Hearing what you said, Grandpa can eat another bowl of rice! And live another ten years!"
Zhou Shuo didn't expect to be slapped in the face so quickly.
By the time she packed all her things for tomorrow's school, it was already eleven o'clock, and Mu Ci was still in the study and had not returned. Zhou Shuo frowned. Mu Ci had a particularly bad habit. He would always forget the time at night and would not go to bed unless urged.
She was about to go to the study to look for him, but she saw Xiao Ling running in in a panic, "Madam, Madam, come quickly, the eldest master is in trouble!"
Zhou Shuo's heart sank.
Mu Ci was leaning in a wheelchair with a pool of vomit next to him, and Liu Ming was feeding him water.
Zhou Shuo put his hand on Mu Ci's pulse without saying a word.
Liu Ming looked at Zhou Shuo intently, not daring to breathe.
After a moment, Zhou Shuo breathed a sigh of relief, "Not bad! Uncle Liu, push my brother to the bedroom."
Liu Ming quickly responded.
Mu Ci closed his eyes and gently held Zhou Shuo's hand: "Don't tell grandpa!"
"Okay." Zhou Shuo agreed.
Mu Chen, who had just walked to the door, heard this and quietly left the room. He waved to Zhou Shuo and Liu Ming with a gloomy look on his face.
Back in the bedroom, Zhou Shuo quickly changed Mu Ci's clothes and gave him acupuncture. Mu Ci's breathing gradually calmed down and he seemed to have fallen asleep.
Zhou Shuo gently said to Liu Ming, "Uncle Liu, you go and rest first. I'll watch over you."
Liu Ming then said, "Madam, the young master suspects it was Madam's bowl of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall."
